  • Korean native goats were used for meat production test, and summarized resalts are as follows. 1. The amounts of feed consumed for Korean Native Goat were significantly higher at day than at night. 2. The feed intake was decreased and live weight gain was lower for the summer period. 3. The concentrate consumption was increased when poor quality of pasture and native grass. 4. Compared between single bran feeding group$(T_2)$ and mixed grain feeding group$(T_3)$, the roughage consumption were similar in both groups. 5. By the use of feeding standard for feeding of Korean Native Goat, the feed convertion of T.D.N, D.C.P, and M. E were decreased. 6. It is necessary to periodically protect from contamination parasitic such like stomach worm, liver flack, nodula worm disease and coccidiosis. 7. The carcass rates of goat at 11-12 months age were higher in $T_3$ feeding group as 44.56% compared with $T_2$ feeding group as 42.17% and tethering group as 35.1% and also the dressed carcass percentage were 33.89%, 30.25% and 29.92% respectively. 8. By increasing the amouat concentrate feeds, fat content in muscle was increased but moisture and ash contents were decreased. 9. The fat caused unacceptable flavour was about 4 percent of total dressed goat meat. 10. Among the spices, clove and pepper were better to improved meat flavour for sausage and can meat processing 11. It was known that the quality of goat meat was suitable for meat processing.

  • In afforestation of denuded forest land soil conditions play a very important role in early growth of cover vegetations. This study was designed for understanding the effect of soil moisture regime on growth and nutrient uptake of some seedlings. Cover vegetations such as Pinus rigida Miller, Robinia pseudoacacia L. and Lespedeza bicolor Turcz. were planted in pot with the soil transported from denuded forest land in Musu-ri Sannae-Myeon. Daedeog-Kun, Chungnam Province. There were 3 moisture treatments and 4 fertility levels in $P_2O_5$ with 4 replications. Influence on growth was observed by the variation in dry weight and nutrient uptake was studied in nitrogen, phosphate and kalium. Results are as follows: 1. For Pinus rigida seedlings decrease in soil moisture tension increases growth of dry weight and enhance the uptake of kalium. Increase in $P_2O_5$ fertility level tends to decrease the uptake of kalium rather than increase in $P_2O_5$ uptake. 2. In Robinia pseudoacacia increase in soil moisture content stimulates the uptake of nitrogen and kalium. Increase in $P_2O_5$ level enhances the uptake of $P_2O_5$ and increases growth of dry weight. 3. In Lespedeza bicolor increase in soil moisture content has a tendency of decrease in nitrogen uptake. Increase in $P_2O_5$ level increases the growth of dry weight as well as the uptake of $P_2O_5$.

  • This study was conduct to investigate the effect of intermediate culture types on the growth and survival rate of the juvenile abalone, Haliotis discus hannai fed seaweed and artificial diet. Intermediate cultures were to determine there that was to fed seaweed (SW) of artificial diet (A) of floor culture (FC), net floor culture (NFC), double shelter culture (DSC) and indoor net cage culture (INCC) in land-based tank, in two replicate. In the growth performance of juvenile abalone reared through intermediate culture to fed SW of A, that the absolute growth rate ($AGR_{SL}$, $AGR_{SB}$), daily growth rate ($DGR_{SL}$, $DGR_{SB}$), and specific growth rate ($SGR_{SL}$, $SGR_{SB}$) to the shell length (SL) and shell breadth (SB) of experimental groups were not significant. As weight gain (WG), daily weight gain (DWG) and specific weight gain (SWG) to body weight through intermediate culture types in land-based tank was not significant. However, as to survival rate to experimental groups, A-FC was higher than those of different groups (P < 0.05). Therefore, these results is showed that was not difference to growth of juvenile abalone over 2 cm fed seaweed diet and artificial diet according to intermediate culture types. But floor culture with artificial diet indicate that was highest to survival rate, therefore, it is beneficial for higher productivity in floor culture with artificial diet among intermediate culture types.

  • The study has been carried to investigate a possibility to control several major insect pest of forest by microbial pathogens existing in nature as one of the biological control measure. Microorganisms including polyhedral virus isolated from diseased fall webworm were total of 4 kinds pathogenic microbes among these 4 kinds were polyhedral virus and Bacillus .species. Control effect of these two pathogens appeared to be $70.6\%$ and $49.5\%$, respectively, when they were compared with those of control plot that was $27.8\%$. Each one of bacterium species and fungus species were isolated from diseased Japanese alder leaf beetle. Pathogenisity to the healthy beetle was recognized by the fungus species, while the bacterium showed none of pathogenisity. The fungus was identified as Beauveria sp. and its effect on the beetle control was $96.2\%$ while untreated plot showed $49.2\%$ of dead beetles in the same period. Fifteen species of microbes were isolated from diseased larvae of pine gall midge. Six species out of 15 showed certain level of insecticidal effect to the larvae of the insects. The highest efficiency was showed by a fungus species, Fusarium sp. and was followed by Bacillus SP. I, Spicaria sp. pathogens isolated from larvae of pine gall midge did not affected to both of Japanese alder leaf beetles and fall webworms in any means.

  • The purpose of the study was to define the labor change in the moutainous villages, So this study analyzed the mass dram of the population from the mountainous villages created by the unequal development between the first and second under the high economic development and the large difference in the income between city and rural area. The content of the study was (1) the foundation of the production in the survey area (2) labor change in the mountainous villages (3) the supply and the demand of the labor in this area. The date were collected from 118 household of 2 villages (one with a high level of brest product, and the other with a low level of forest products) in Cheon-nam Province through a questionarie. The results of the study were as follows. 1. The mass drain in the mountainous villages started in the middle of 1970's, and the rate of drain has been very rapid and accelerated. 2. The drain of the mountainous village with a low level of forest products is more than that of the mountainous village with a high level of forest products. 3. In the mountainous village with high level of forest products, the specialization in the farmer class has begun and the farmers with a side job are now increasing. 4. Generally the major drain consisted of the young class (16-30 age), and consequently it caused a change in the composition of labor power into old age and women. 5. The character of the forest labor market is how changing from closed to open.

  • A study was conducted to investigate the relationships between the rice weevil and associated storage molds. The results are as follows; 1. All of the developmental stages of the rice weevils are carrying some storage molds in their bodies, and the order of magnitute in the number was the adult, larva and pupa. 2. The molds persist in the body of the rice weevil for 10 days who.1 they were fed on the mold free wheat, and the most persistant mold species was A. candidus. 3. When the mold free weevils were reared on the pure culture of the molds on the wheat, the number of eggs laid by the Lveevil were the greatest for A. candidus. following A. ruber, and the . least number Lvere obtained with A. niger 4. The rice weevil could complete in the pure mold culture on the wheat except for A. niger where the larvae had developed by 2nd or 3rd instars. 3. The shortest developmental periods was obtained with A. candidus and the first adult emerged in 4th week. 6. The unfavorable effects of A. niger on the development of the rice weevil might be associated with the fast growth of the mold together with some unknown effects. 7. There seems to be a protocooperative interaction between these two oraganisms having been developed through the long evolutionary course in common habitat.

  • Study was conducted to estimate the nutritional effect of substitution levels of "IKUTON" (R) inocculate fermented sweet potato pulp for the growing-finnishing pig rations. Twenty five Large white X Landrace cross-breed (15 kg). mixed sex were used in group feeding at the substitution levels of 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40%. The results obtained were summarized as follow: Voluntary feed intake of experimental diets was lowest in 40%. No significant difference in voluntary feed intake was found in 10,20, and 30% levels except 40% P<0.05). The feed efficiency was highest in 20%; (3.43), 30%; (3.80), 10%; (3.97), control; (4.53), and 40%; (4.20) respectively. There was tendency toward increasing feed effioiency in 10,20,30% levels than control. However, the lowest feed efficiency was found in 40% level. The weeks required to gain 80 kg of live weight were 12 weeks for 10%, 13 weeks for control. 14 weeks for 20%, and 30%, but in 40% level of substitution, no 80kg live weight was found up to the end of experiment (15 weeks). Pigs in 40% level were gained live weight only 64% of control animals. The digestibility of experimental diets was 75.2-78.5%, and water intake per kg dry matter intake was $1.95-2.01{\ell}$. No significant effects of feed offer interval to the digestibility and water consumption.

  • These experiments were conducted to investigate the formation of organic acid and ethanol during fermentation by three yeast strains. One of these was industrial strain (No.7) from Japan, and the others were wild types (No. 47, No. 239) isolated from Takju-mash and Strawbery, respectively. Conditions of fermentation were varied by differing the supply of oxygen (air), and by using different fermentation media The results obtained were as follows: 1) All the yeast strains produced higher amount of total organic acid and ethanol under the conditions which were aerobic, i.e. the flasks were opened during fermentation, than in case of using the flasks with fermentation bung. 2) Organic acid and ethanol were produced rapidly in the mash medium than in the semi-synthetic medium, i.e. total amount of organic acid and ethanol was maximized in a short time in the mash medium. 3) On the mash medium, the highest amount of organic acid was obtained by the strain No. 239, the next by No. 7 and the lowest by No. 47. Ethanol was produced on this medium with decreacing order of No. 47, No. 239, and No. 7. 4) The strain No. 239 was proved to be a powerful organic acid producer, yielding higher amount of organic acid especially under the aerobic conditions. 5) Above results suggests that the strain No. 239 could be of useful in alcoholic drink industry, due to its powerful ethanol-producing characteristic accompaning with high yielding of organic acids.
