수령(樹齡)에 의한 포플러펄프의 성질(性質)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (Studies on the Properties of Mechanical Pulp from Italian Poplar Wood(Populus euramericana I-476) by the Age of Tree)

  • The first step to utilize the growing resources of Italian poplar (Populus euramericana I-476) for pulp-Woods, its characteristics and adaptabilities to the pulp industry must be investigated completely. The plantation methods are important for its fast growing in stock, and no less important is the cutting age for its utilization as pulpwood. In this paper, the stone groundwood pulping, refiner groundwood pulping and chemi-groundwood pulping characteristics by the age of tree, along with their physical and chemical characterstics were tested, and relationships between the age groups were analyzed to find out the optimum felling age. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The coefficient of pliability was a little higher in the case of younger trees. 2. The water retention value of each pulp was directly proportional to its physical strength, but this tendency was not detected between the age groups of sample woods. 3. Generally, the physical strength of younger wood pulp was lower regardless of the pulping process. But in the case of pretreatment with NaOH, Asphund and CGP pulp from 5 year old sample wood were stronger in physical strengths than those of GP and Asplund pulp with no pretreatment from 10 years old sample wood. 4. The tear factor of Asplund pulp with alkali pretreatment was higher than that of CGP pulp but the breaking length and the burst factor was similar in all processes. Considering the pulp yield and its brightness, CGP process seems to be advantageous. 5. The dissimilarity of physical strength between 7 and 10 years old wood pulp was not very large in all pulping processes but the physical strength of 5 year old wood pulp was very weak. In the of groundwood pulping from Italian poplar woods, 5 year old wood pulp should be mixed with other long fiber pulp for making a good paper.

위성자료를 이용한 산화지의 입목 손실량 평가 (Evaluation of Damaged Stand Volume in Burned Area of Mt. Weol-A using Remotely Sensed Data)

  • 본 연구는 1995년 4월 5일 진주시 월아산지역에서 발생한 산화지를 1995년 5월에 관측된 Landsat TM화상 데이터로부터 산림내 피해지를 분류하고 그 입목손실량을 추정하기 위해서 실시되었다. 화상 데이터에서 11개의 GCP를 선정하여 Affine좌표변환식에 의해 TM지도좌표체계에 일치되도록 화상을 기하보정 처리한 후 공1차내삽법(bilinear interpolation)에 의해 재배열하였다. 재배열된 화상 데이타를 감독분류 중 최대우도법에 의해 토지이용구분을 실시하였다. 산화지로 분류된 지역과 비산화지로 분류된 인접지역 중 임상(Pinus thunbergii)과 지형이 동일한 지역을 GIS기법에 의해 추출하고 이 지역을 표준지로 선정하였다. 선정된 표준지를 중심으로 표준목의 재적과 수령을 Criterion laser estimator와 WinDENDRO$^{tm}$(v. 6.3b)시스템에 의해 분석하였다. 표준목의 흉고직경은 20.9cm, 수고는 9.7m, 재적은 $0.1396m^3$으로서 표준지의 임분재적은 $2.9316m^3$/0.04ha로 나타났으며, 산화지 218.4ha에서의 총 입목손실량은 $16,007m^3$로 평가되었다.

완도지역 붉가시나무의 성장 및 결실 특성과 종실량 상대성장식 (Growth and Fruiting Characteristics and No. of Acorns/tree Allometric Equations of Quercus acuta Thunb. in Wando Island, Korea)

  • 완도수목원내 백운로 상부의 붉가시나무림을 대상으로 난대 상록활엽수림 복원 시 붉가시나무의 성장 및 종실공급과 관련된 기초정보를 제공하는 목적으로 붉가시나무의 성장 및 결실특성을 조사하고 종실량 상대성장식을 구하였다. 성장특성은 평균흉고직경급에 속하는 실생 임목 3주의 표본목을 선정 벌목하여 수간석해하였다. 표본목의 평균치의 수령(X)에 의한 흉고직경과 수고의 성장특성(Y)의 상대성장식(Y=aX+b)을 개발하였으며, 추정식에 의한 붉가시나무 수령에 따른 흉고직경 및 수고를 추정하였다. 결실특성은 성숙종실초기인 8월에 평균 흉고직경급에 속하는 임목을 대상으로 결실이 충실한 임목 3주의 표본목을 선정 벌목하여 조사하였다. 붉가시나무의 종실량 상대성장식을 개발하기 위하여 결실목 중 흉고직경이 고르게 10주의 표본목을 선정 벌목하였다. 벌목한 표본목은 흉고직경, 수고, 수관폭, 수관고 등의 성장특성(X)과 종실량(Y)을 조사 분석하여 종실량 상대성장식($Y=aX^b$)을 유도하였다. 표본목 평균치의 수령에 의한 상대성장식은 흉고직경 Y=0506X-2.064($R^2=0.999$), 수고 Y=0.321X+0689($R^2=0.992$)이었다. 개발된 상대성장식에 의하여 수령 10, 20, 30, 40년일 때 흉고직경은 각각 3.0cm, 8.1cm, 13.1cm, 18.2cm, 수고는 각각 3.9m, 7.1m, 10.3m, 13.5m가 되는 것으로 추정되었다. 결실특성 조사 결과 결과모지(結果母枝)당 잎 수를 제외한 결과모지의 길이, 직경, 결과모지 당 결과지 수, 종실 수는 유의적인 차이를 보였으며, 수관 상, 중, 하부로 갈수록 감소하였다. 종실 총수의 경우 수관 상, 중, 하부 각각 1,312립, 115립, 5립이었다. 붉가시나무 표본목을 일괄하여 추정한 종실량 상대성장식의 흉고직경(D)를 독립변수로 하는 상대성장식은 $Y=0.003X^{4.260}$, 결정계수($R^2$)은 0.896이었다. 흉고직경만을 독립변수로 하는 상대성장식은 흉고직경과 수고($D^2H$)를 독립변수로 하는 결정계수가 다소 낮으나, 측정오차를 고려하면, 흉고직경만을 독립변수로 하는 상대성장식을 적용하는 것이 실용적이라고 판단된다.

광릉삼림의 생태학적 연구 낙엽송의 Site Index와 임상식생에 관하여 (Ecological Studies on Several Forest Communities in Kwangnung. A Study of the Site Index and the ground vegetation of Larch)

  • In order to determine the factors related to site quality, 13 areas of Larch growing in the Kwangung and its vicinity forest as sample plots, were examined. Sample plots included various site classes as well as age classes. Three were divided into two groups (major and minor trees). Average height of dominant trees was determined through messurement of 5 to 6 dominant tree in each sample plots. Average height of dominant 30 year-old trees was the basis for site index. A Standard Yield Table for the larch produced in Kwangnung forest was made by various data, which included age class 5, ranging from 10 to 45 years. The relationship of the height of the trees, the site conditions, and ground vegetation are investigated in this paper. The site indexes of 40 forest class age in 28-B and 28-G forest classes of the larch associations for ground vegetation had comparatively rarge differences due to the sampled areas. The relation of the direction of forest communities to the height and the diameter of the tree shwoed that its communiteis of northest and northwest parts appeared higher valueof the height and the diameter. The diameter and the height of trees were closely realted to each other. The samller the occupied area per tree and the smaller the average distance among trees, the more density was increased. The larger the density was the lower height of the trees. In the ground vegetation of the larch communities, there seems to be a definite correlation between the height of trees and the occupied area per tree or the average distance among the trees. The height of trees and site index of two larch communities were as follow: 28-B forest class site index 20.8, height 24.0m, 28-G forest class site index 18.4, height 20.9m. The ground layer was analyzed by the method of Quadrat(20/20sq. cm) with an interval of 1M. It set up 40 Quadrats of the larch communiteis. The community structure of the ground vegetation of two larch was analyzed, and important value was calculated and then evaluated. The ground vegetation under the larch had developed Burmannii Beauv stratal society below the 28-B and 28-G the forest class. Accordingly, the first important value of Burmannii Beauv was found in two ground vegetation below the larch. Therefore, this species could be quantitatively considered as the forest indicator species. Common species of each community appeared 18 species out of 34 species in the ground vegetation under two larch communities. The ground vegetation of the 28-B forest class showed more than that of the 28-G forest class. the similarity of the ground vegetation was measrued by the Frequency Index Community Coefficient. The differences between the associations were lcearly manifested by the ground vegetation tested by Gleason's Frequency Index of Community Coefficient for the analysis of each stratal society of all associations. According to F.I.C.C. the ground vegetation under two larch(28-B and 28-G) forest classes showed higher value. An investigation into the relationship of physical and chemical properties of soil and site was considered the next step to be taken in the study of the larch site classification.

Stand Structure and Regeneration Pattern of Kalopanax septemlobus at the Natural Deciduous Broad-leaved Forest in Mt. Jeombong, Korea

  • Since the demands not only for value-added timber but the environmental functions of forests had been increased, native tree species has been, and is rapidly being replaced by foreign tree species in many parts of the world. However, the studies on population structure and regeneration characteristics of native tree species were not conducted enough. Regeneration of Kalopanax septemlobus growing among other hardwoods in natural forests is very difficult because of its low seed viability and germination rate. The study examined the distribution of mature trees of K. septemlobus and their regeneration pattern at the 1.12 ha study plot in natural deciduous broad-leaved forest of Mt. Jeombong. The density and mean DBH of K. septemlobus was 97 trees per ha and 32 cm, respectively. The spatial distribution of K. septemlobus showed a random pattern (aggregation index is 0.935) in the 1.12 ha study plot. The age of 90 trees among 99 sample trees of K. septemlobus ranged from 90 to 110 years and represented a single cohort, thus suggesting that K. septemlobus in advance regeneration has regenerated as a result of disturbances such as canopy opening.

신생대 제4기 울릉도 나리칼데라 부석층에서 산출된 탄화목의 연륜연대 및 수종식별 연구 (A Study on Tree-ring Dating and Speciation of Charcoal found in Pumiceous Deposit of the Quaternary Nari Caldera, Ulleung Island, Korea)

  • 본 연구는 울릉도 나리칼데라에서 산출된 탄화목의 수종식별, 연륜분석, 방사성탄소 연대를 통해 고식생/고환경, 분출연대 및 화산쇄설물의 정치온도에 대한 정보를 제공하기 위해 수행되었다. 탄화목은 울릉도 최후기 화산쇄설층을 대표하는 나리테프라층의 최하부(Member N-5) 부석질 퇴적층 내에서 채취되었으며, 나이테의 원형(횡단면)이 잘 보존된 나무의 가지 부분이다. 분석결과, 수종은 소나무과 중 가문비나무속(Picea spp.)으로 식별되었으며 최외각 나이테의 연륜은 $263+{\alpha}$ 년으로 확인되었다. 나이테는 중심(pith)에서 바깥쪽을 향해 그 나이가 점차 젊어지며 $20,260{\pm}230$, $19,995{\pm}245$$19,975{\pm}265cal\;BP$ 의 보정연대를 가진다. 가장 젊은 연대인 19,710 cal BP 는 Member N-5의 분출과 관련된 연대일 가능성이 높다. 이 결과는 후기 플라이스토세 동안 울릉도 나리칼데라는 가문비나무가 번성하였으며, 한랭 습윤한 기후조건하에 있었음을 지시한다. 광택, 취성, 색 및 조흔색 등의 특성에 기초하면, 탄화를 야기한 화산쇄설물의 최소 온도는 약 $350{\sim}500^{\circ}C$ 정도일 것으로 추정된다.

백두대간 마루금일대 소나무의 연륜생장과 기후와의 관계 (Relationships between Climate and Tree-Rings of Pinus densiflora in the Ridges of the Baekdudaegan, Korea)

  • 백두대간의 마루금일대에 자라는 소나무 연륜생장과 기후와의 관계를 알아보기 위하여 21개 지역에서 48본 시료의 연륜을 분석하였다. 모든 지역의 소나무 연륜패턴이 서로 크로스데이팅 되어 우리나라 소나무의 생장이 기후에 크게 영향을 받는다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이들 연륜연대기는 3개의 군집으로 구분할 수 있었는데, 지역적으로 그리고 해발 고도에 따라 분류되지 않아 백두대간에 분포하는 소나무의 연륜생장은 지역이나 고도보다는 미소 (microsite) 생육환경에 따른 생장량의 대소에 따라 분류되는 것을 알 수 있었다. 백두대간 소나무의 연륜생장과 기후(월 강수량과 월 평균기온)와의 관계를 상관계수로 분석한 결과, 백두대간 소나무의 연륜생장은 강수보다는 기온에 영향을 많이 받으며, 생장이 양호한 군집이 기후의 영향을 덜 받는 것으로 나타났다.

국내주요수종의 수고생장에 대하여 (On the Height Growth of Several Species growing in the Middle Korea)

  • 지위지수추정시 발생되는 오차를 감소시키기 위하여 수고생장과정에 적합한 실험식과 기타 정보를 얻고자 이 연구를 착수한 것이다. 11개 실험식으로 물오리나무, 일본잎갈나무, 잎갈나무, 잣나무, 젓나무, 리기다소나무, 상수리나무와 갈참나무의 수고생장 추정식을 계산하였다. 계산결과에 의하면 수종간에는 적합실험식의 종류가 서로 다르며 지위지수는 임령에 따라 항상 일정한 것이 아니고 변동하는 경우가 있으므로 지위지수추정시 수간석해 또는 다변형지위지수 곡선을 이용함이 합리적인 것으로 생각된다.

피복구성학적 인체계측과 집낙구조분석 ( I ) (Anthropometry for clothing construction and cluster analysis ( I ))

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze 'the natural groupings' of subjects in order to classify highly similar somatotype for clothing construction. The sample for the study was drawn randomly out of senior high school boys in Seoul urban area. The sample size was 425 boys between age 16 and 18. Cluster analysis was more concerned with finding the hierarchical structure of subjects by three dimensional distance of stature. bust girth and sleeve length. The groups forming a partition can be subdivided into 5 and 6 sets by the hierarchical tree of the given subjects. Ward's Minimum Variance Method was applied after extraction of distance matrix by the Standardized Euclidean Distance. All of the above data was analyzed by the computer installed at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. The major findings, take for instance, of 16 age group can be summarized as follows. The results of cluster analysis of this study: 1. Cluster 1 (32 persons means $18.29\%$ of the total) is characterized with smaller bust girth than that of cluster 5, but stature and sleeve length of the cluster 1 are the largest group. 2. Cluster 2 (18 Persons means $10.29\%$ of the total) is characterized with the group of the smallest stature and sleeve length, but bust girth larger than that of cluster 3. 3. Cluster 3(35persons means $20\%$ of the total) is classified with the smallest group of all the stature, bust girth and sleeve length. 4. Cluster 4(60 persons means $34.29\%$ of the total) is grouped with the same value of sleeve length with the mean value of 16 age group, but the stature and bust girth is smaller than the mean value of this age group. 5. Cluster 5(30 persons means $17.14\%$ of the total) is characterized with smaller stature than that of cluster 1, and with larger bust girth than that of cluster 1, but with the same value of the sleeve length with the mean value of the 16 age group.

A Prediction Model for studying the Impact of Separated Families on Students using Decision Tree

  • Social studies show that the number of separated families have lately increased due to different reasons. Despite the causes for family rift, many problems are resulted which affected the children physically and psychologically. This effect may cause them fail in their life especially at school. This paper focuses on the negative reaction of the parents' separation with other factors from the computer science prospective. Since the artificial intelligent field is the most common widespread in computer science, a predictive model is built to predict if a specific child whose parents separated, may complete the school successfully or fail to continue his education. This will be done using Decision Tree that have proved their effectiveness on the predication applications. As an experiment, a sample of individuals is randomly chosen and applied on our prediction model. As a result, this model shows that the separation may cause the child success at school if other factors are satisfied; the intelligent of the guardian, the relation between the parents after the separation, his age at the separation time, etc.
