Magnetic Properties of Sintered Fe Cores Containing Stainless Steel-making Dusts (스테인레스 제강 분진을 함유한 순철 소결코아의 자기특성)

  • Effect of sintering temperature and dusts content on sintered density ($\rho$) and magnetic properties were evaluated. Cores sintered at 1350 $^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour with the Fe powders containing up to 10 wt.% dusts showed a good AC/DC properties. For example, the DC magnetic properties of magnetic induction (B$_{15}$), coercive force (H$_{c}$) and permeability ($\mu$$_{max}$) of cores containing 10 wt.% dusts were ranging over 9.8~ 10.9 kG, 2.2-2.3 Oe and 1950~2050, respectively. These magnetic properties are equivalent to those of competitor's (i.e, Ancorsteel produced by Hoganas). The cores obtained from the present work are expected to apply for high-performance soft magnetic components such as automotive and DC motor.

  • This paper presents an ultra-low partial discharge(PD) measurement system that has been accepted as a non-destructive method to estimate electrical insulation of low-voltage electric devices. The PD measurement system is composed of a coupling network, a low noise amplifier, and associated electronics. A shielding box is used to make a better condition against electromagnetic interference. A low cut-off frequency of the coupling network was 1MHz(-3 dB). Calibration tests on laboratory set-up have shown that the PD measurement system has a stable sensitivity of 11.4mV/pC. In an application experiment on a low-voltage induction motor(5HP), we could detect 0.77pC level of partial discharge pulse at the applied voltage of AC 664 V$_{peak}$.

  • In this paper, a new control scheme to use 6-switch IGBI module for 3-phase switched reluctance motors(SRM) is proposed. Compared with the conventional asymmetric bridge converter topology, it can minimize the entire system size and cost. Therefore, it may have a new topology lot SRM to compare the other ac motors, such as induction motors, brushless dc motors, and so on. The validity of the proposed method is verified by simulation, and experimental results.

  • A newly-built inverter has to undergo a series of stress tests in the final stage of production line. This can be achieved by connecting it to a dynamometer consisting of a three-phase machine joined by a rigid shaft to a DC load machine. The latter is controlled to create some specific load characteristic needed for the test. In this paper a test method is proposed, in which no mechanical equipment is needed. The suggested test stand consists only of a inverter to be tested and a simulator converter. Both devices are connected back- to-back on the AC-side via smoothing reactors. The simulator operates in real-time as an equivalent load circuit, so that the device under test will only notice the behaviour of a three-phase machine under consideration of the load. In odor to wove rightness of the suggested test method, the simulation and actural experiment rallied out emulation for a 2.2kW induction motor.

A New Overmodulation Strategy for PWM Inverter (PWM 인버터의 출력전압 향상을 위한 과변조 기법)

  • This paper proposes a new overmodulation stategy to give a better voltage by the full utilization of the hexagon voltage range in the space vector PWM(SVPWM) inverter. This overmodulation strategy can apply to the vector control, leading to better output torque capability in the ac motor drive system. This strategy is that in the overmodulation range, the d-axis output current is given a priority to regulate the flux well, instead the q-axis output curent is sacrificed. Therefore, the vector control even in the overmodulation PWM operation can be achieved well. For this purpose, the d-axis output voltage of a current controller to control the flux is conserved. the q-axis output voltage to control the torque is controlled to place the reference voltage vector on the hexagon boundary in case of the overmodulation. The validity of the proposed overall scheme is confirmed by simulation and experiments for a 22[kW] induction motor drive system

  • Brushless DC(BLDC) motors are widely used as AC servo motors in factory automation fields because of their quick instantaneous mobility, good energy saving efficiency and easiness of design for control system comparing with induction motors. Recently, a Two-Degree-of-Freedom(2DOF) PI control law has been adopted to some application parts to accomplish an advanced speed control of BLDC motors. The method can treat the two conflicting performances, minimum tracking errors versus reference inputs without large overshoot and rejection of some disturbances including modeling errors, independently. However, the method can not design the optimal system which is able to minimize tracking errors and energy consumption simultaneously. In this paper, a 2DOF integral type optimal servo control method is investigated to promote the speed control performances of BLDC motors considering energy consumption. In order to applicate the method to the speed servo system of the BLDC motor, the motor is modeled in the state space using the vector control and decoupling technique. To verify the validity of the suggested method, some simulations and experiments are performed.

  • According to increase of nonlinear power electronics equipment, active power filters have been researched and developed for many years to compensate harmonic disturbances and reactive power. However the commercial of active power filter is being proceeded slowly, because the cost of active power filter compared to the passive filter for harmonic and reactive power compensation is expensive. Especially, the use of DSP (Digital Signal Processing) chip, which is frequently used to control 3-phase active power filter, is a factor of increasing the cost of active power filters. On the other hand, the use of only analog controller makes the controller's circuits much more complicate and depreciates the flexibilities of controller. In this paper, a controller with low cost for 5[kVA] 3-phase active power filter system is designed. To reduce the expense of active filter system, the presented controller is composed of digital control part using Intel 80C196KC $\mu$P and analog control part using hysteresis controller for current control. Characteristic analysis of designed controller for active filter system is performed by computer simulation and compensating characteristics of the designed controller are verified by experiment.tegy can apply to the vector control, leading to better output torque capability in the ac motor drive system.
