Assessment of Insulation Condition between Diagnosis and Impregnation for Hydro-Generator (대용량 수차발전기의 절연진단과 절연보수 상관관계 평가)

  • The measurements were performed to assess the insulation deterioration condition of the stator winding of Dae-Cheong hydro-generator #2 which had been in service after being constructed 1980. After repair of the stator winding insulation, we conducted insulation diagnostic tests which include resistance, polarization index(P.I), AC current, dissipation factor($Tan\delta$) and partial discharges ($Q_{max}$). The results of diagnostic tests were compared to the previous records. On the basis of these test results, this paper tried to present the importance of insulation repair for the generator stator winding.

An Analysis on Core Loss Characteristics for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator considering the Load Conditions (부하조건을 고려한 영구자석형 동기발전기의 철손 특성 해석)

  • This paper deals with an improved core loss calculation under the load conditions, namely, no-load, AC-load and DC-load of multi-pole PM generator from curve fitting method using modified Steinmetz equation considered anomalous loss. For an accurate calculation, magnetic field analyses in stator core considering the time harmonics are performed. And using the nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA), we applied separated rotating and alternating magnetic field to core loss calculation. In order to verify the core loss results by proposed method, the experimental system for no-load core loss measurement has been implemented with DC motor, power analyzer and manufactured PM generator. And, the analysis results with rotational speed agree extremely well with those obtained by measurement.

  • This paper presents the determination of synchronous compensator(S.C) rating and parameter in Cheju AC network. The role of S.C is to supply Inertia and reactive power to HVDC system which is a kind of a generator without the function of reactive power control and Inertia. Therefore, the parameters of S,C have to be determined by considering HVDC operating characteristics. The background of this paper is the determination of S.C parameters in Cheju AC network in the case of replacing current operating S,C to new S.C type.

  • Damage and upset of control and communication equipment due to transient overvoltages which occur due primarily to internal switching surge and external lightning surge are an important problems in electromagnetic compatibility(EMC). In this paper, we analyzed operation characteristic of metal oxide varistor widely used low voltage AC line using the electromagnetic transients program(EMTP) and compare it with experimental results and also, we modeled combination generator producing $1.2/50{\mu}s$ open circuit voltage and $8/20{\mu}s$ short circuit current as a source which is critical in calculating operation characteristic. Simulation results showed that most of Transient energy consumes at MOV located in service entrance side than load side, and it showed similar to experimental results. Therefore, entrance side MOV should be selected more energy capacity than that of load side MOV.

  • This paper describes design results of the measurement system to test the properties of broadband AC magnetic field sensors used in weapon system. This measurement system consists of 3-axis helmholtz coil, signal generator, signal amplifier, sensor data acquisition unit and measurement & analysis controller including the operating software. This system is able to measure various properties of AC magnetic field sensor such as sensitivity, linearity and dynamic response in the frequency of 1 Hz to 10 kHz. The performance of this system was verified by measuring and analyzing the property of a MAG 639, standard magnetic field sensor of bartington instruments, with this developed system.

  • The background of this paper is the HVDC concept design of Jeju HVDC #2, which will be operated at 2011. The concept design is the first step of HVDC design procedures and the contents handled in this procedure are operation conditions, short circuit ratios(SCR) and interactions between AC network and HVDC. The operating conditions are based on the reliability of HVDC and AC network, SCR is related to HVDC stability and overvoltage and the interaction is between HVDC and other AC equipments, that are FACTS, generator and HVDC. The results of this paper are a keystone of HVDC #2 design.

  • 본 논문은 연료전지와 플라이윌 저장 시스템용을 결합한 복합전원으로 하는 연료전지 발전 시스템의 전력변환장치 연구에 관한 것이다. 이를 위한 전력변환장치는 연료전지로부터 저전압을 상승시키기 고조파 DC-DC 컨버터 이를 안정된 교류전원으로 변환하기 위한 DC-AC 인버터 및 플라이휠에 에너지 회생과 재생하기 위한 DC-AC 컨버터로 구성된다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 UPS 시스템은 AC 발전기 및 배터리를 백업 전원으로 사용하는데 맡은 유해 물질을 발생시키지만, 이 시스템을 사용하면 환경 오염, 높은 효율 및 대용량에 적합하다. 또한, 시뮬레이션을 통하여 연료전지 발전 시스템에 과부하시 안정하게 출력 성능을 가지도록 Fly-Wheel 시스템을 적용한 모의실험 결과를 제시한다.

A New Approach to HVDC System Control for Damping SSO Using the Novel Eigenvalue Analysis Program

  • This paper presents a new approach to HVDC system control for damping subsynchronous oscillation (SSO) involving HVDC converters and turbine generator shaft systems. This requires a novel eigenvalue analysis (NEA) program, derivation of HVDC system modeling considering steady-state conditions and dynamic conditions in the combined AC/DC system, and an appropriate control scheme. The method suggested makes possible the design of a subsynchronous oscillation damping controller (SODC) to provide positive damping torque for the range of torsional modes in combined AC/DC systems. There are three steps involved in the design of a SODC; first the worst torsional mode is determined using the NEA program, next the SODC parameters are designed for the range of that torsional mode, and then finally an off-line simultaneous time domain program such as PSCAD/EMTDC is used to verify the parameters of the SODC. The suggested SODC design method is applied to two AC/DC systems, and its practicality is verified using the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation program.

  • This study deals with output characteristics of a hybrid power generation system for a vehicle such as a crane, a fire engine, and a wingbody. The proposed method obtains the commercial AC voltage of single phase 220V/60Hz by connecting a variable speed three-phase PMSG(Permanent magnetic synchronous generator) and an AC/DC/AC power converter to PTO (Power take off) or hydraulic motor. The proposed system is fabricated and tested to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed system.

Reduction of Current Ripples due to Current Measurement Errors in a Doubly Fed Induction Generator

  • This paper proposes a new compensation algorithm for the current measurement errors in a DFIG (Doubly Fed Induction Generator). Generally, current measurement path with current sensors and analog devices has non-ideal factors like offset and scaling errors. As a result, the dq-axis currents of the synchronous reference frame have one and two times ripple components of the slip frequency. In this paper, the main concept of the proposed algorithm is implemented by integrating the 3-phase rotor currents into the stationary reference frame to compensate for the measured current ripples in a DFIG. The proposed algorithm has several beneficial features: easy implementation, less computation time, and robustness with regard to variations in the electrical parameters. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by several experiments.
