This study investigates the effects of multi-axial diagonal forging (MADF) processing number on the microstructures of AA1100 fabricated using MADF processes. The cast AA1100 was annealed at $400^{\circ}C$ for 3hrs in $N_2$ atmosphere and cut into $25mm^3$ cubes for the MADF processes. The MADF process consist of plane forging with a thickness reduction of 30% and a diagonal forging with a diagonal forging angle of 135 degrees. In order to analyze the microstructural variations based on the number of repetitions, 1, 2, 3 and 4 cycles of the MADF process were performed. AA1100 specimens were successfully deformed without cracking of the surface for up to 4 cycles of MADF. The grain size, average misorientation and average grain orientation spread (GOS) of MADF processed materials were analyzed using EBSD technique. The results showed that MADF process effectively refined the microstructure of AA1100 with an initial average grain size of $337.4{\mu}m$. The average grain sizes of specimens which were MADF processed for 2, 3, 4 cycles were refined to be $1.9{\mu}m$, $1.6{\mu}m$, $1.4{\mu}m$, respectively. The grain refinement appeared saturated when AA1100 got MADF processed over 2 cycles. When the specimen was subjected to two or more cycles of MADF, the degree of decrease in the average grain size drastically decreased with an increase in the number of cycle due to the softening phenomena such as dynamic recovery or dynamic recrystallization during processing.

This paper describes the design, simulation and characterization of an AA size electromagnetic energy harvester that is capable of converting environmental vibration into electrical energy. A magnetic spring technique is used to scavenge energy from low frequency external vibrations. The generator is characterized by ANSYS 2D finite element analysis, and optimized in terms of moving mass, fixed magnet size, coil width and load resistance. The optimized energy harvester is able to generate 53.5 mW of average power at 8.1 Hz resonance frequency, with a displacement of 0.5 mm.
Amorphous alumina(AA) the precursor of ${\gamma}$-alumina for catalyst support was made in the newly designed ball filled heating column. Some properties of AA as precursor were investigated. In observation of microstruc-ture and pore structure of AA and its derivatives scanning electronic microscope(SEM) and transmission electronic microscope(TEM) were used. It was found that the width of one particle in AA was 45~60$\AA$ and the average distance among the particles ranged 9~12 $\AA$ which suggested a micropore structure. When AA was reacted with water the shape of the surface was found to be altered and acicular bioehmite was formed inside AA which contributed inproved formability. Pore distribution was evaluated for the three samples of AA ground and granulated lump and La2O3 coated alumina. Acid sites were quantitatively determined by ammonia TPD method and the effect of impurity of Na on acid sites was discussed. Water adsorption capacity was evaluated in terms of a desiccant.
The microstructural evolution of AA1050/AA6061 complex aluminum alloy, which is fabricated using an accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) process, with the proceeding of ARB, was investigated by electron back scatter diffraction (EBSD) analysis. The specimen after one cycle exhibited a deformed structure in which the grains were elongated to the rolling direction for all regions in the thickness direction. With the proceeding of the ARB, the grain became finer; the average grain size of the as received material was $45{\mu}m$; however, it became $6.3{\mu}m$ after one cycle, $1.5{\mu}m$ after three cycles, and $0.95{\mu}m$ after five cycles. The deviation of the grain size distribution of the ARB processed specimens decreased with increasing number of ARB cycles. The volume fraction of the high angle grain boundary also increased with the number of ARB cycles; it was 43.7% after one cycle, 62.7% after three cycles, and 65.6% after five cycles. On the other hand, the texture development was different depending on the regions and the materials. A shear texture component {001}<110> mainly developed in the surface region, while the rolling texture components {011}<211> and {112}<111> developed in the other regions. The difference of the texture between AA1050 and AA6061 was most obvious in the surface region; {001}<110> component mainly developed in AA1050 and {111}<110> component in AA6061.
The preparation of the fine BN powders by ammonia-nitridation of ammonia-decaborane derivate was attempted at temperature between 300 to 150$0^{\circ}C$. The formation mechanism of BN was examined and the resulant BN powder was characterized by means of IR, XRD, SEM and PSA method. In the nitridation below 80$0^{\circ}C$ bonding materials were identified with mainly BH and NH but above 80$0^{\circ}C$ with BN by IR spectra and X-ray patterns. Crystalite size, lattice constant and particle size distribution of hexagonal BN prepared at 1, 50$0^{\circ}C$ were La=470$\AA$, Lc=180$\AA$, a=2.5062$\pm$1$\AA$, c=6.8285$\pm$2$\AA$ and 2.0-5.4${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively.
The present study focuses on 7075 aluminum wrought alloy to investigate the potential industrial applications of thixoextrusion process. The microstructural evolution of 7075 aluminum wrought alloy for thixoextrusion has been investigated as a function of isothermal holding temperature and time in the partially remelted semisolid state. The results showed that the liquid fraction increased with increasing isothermal holding temperature and time while the average grain size was inversely proportional to isothermal holding temperature and time up to 5min. However, there was no big change of liquid fraction and average grain size with respect to isothermal holding temperature and time. The important fact that the liquid fraction and average grain size were almost uniform after 5 min holding time is considered very useful for thixoextrusion in terms of process control.
The effect of sputtering conditions on magnetic properties of CoCrMo/Cr magnetic thin film was investigated. Substrate temperature were controlled from R. T to $250^{\circ}C$. The thickness changes of Cr underlayer and CoCrMo magnetic layer were in the range of $1000-2500\AA$ and $300-800\AA$, respectively. Grain size was found to be decreased with increasing magnetic layer thickness(from $500\AA$ to $800\AA$). CoCrMo magnetic layer microstructure showed relatively small dependence on Cr underlayer thickness, substrate temperature. Coercivity increased with increasing Cr underlayer, magnetic layer thickness and substrate temperature. CoCrMo/Cr thin film showed a coercivity of 880 Oe in $700\AA$ magnetic layer thickness and $1000\AA$ Cr underalyer thickness.
A cold roll-bonding process was applied to fabricate an AA1050/AA6061/AA1050 laminate complex sheet. Two AA1050 and one AA6061 sheets of 2 mm thickness, 40 mm width and 300 mm length were stacked up after surface treatment that included degreasing and wire brushing; material was then reduced to a thickness of 3 mm by one-pass cold rolling. The laminate sheet bonded by the rolling was further reduced to 1.2 mm in thickness by conventional rolling. The rolling was performed at ambient temperature without lubricant using a 2-high mill with a roll diameter of 210 mm. The rolling speed was 5.0 m/sec. The AA1050/AA6061/AA1050 laminate complex sheet fabricated by roll bonding was then hardened by natural aging T4) and artificial aging (T6) treatments. The microstructures of the as-roll bonded and the age hardened Al complex sheets were revealed by optical microscope observation; the mechanical properties were investigated by tensile testing and hardness testing. The strength of the as-roll bonded complex sheet was found to increase by 2.9 times compared to that value of the starting material. In addition, the hardness of the complex sheets increased with cold rolling for AA1050 and age-hardening treatment for AA6061, respectively. After heat treatment, both AA1050 and AA6061 showed typical recrystallization structures in which the grains were equiaxed; however, the grain size was smaller in AA6061 than in AA1050.

In the structure of ITO/N,N'-diphenyl-N,N' bis (3-methylphenyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-diamine(TPD)/tris (8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum($Alq_3$)/Al device, we studied the efficiency improvement of organic light-emitting diodes due to variation of deposition rate of hole transport layer (TPD) materials using hole-size of crucible boat. The thickness of TPD and $Alq_3$ was manufactured 40 nm, 60 nm, respectively under a base pressure of $5{\times}10^{-6}$ Torr using a thermal evaporation. The $Alq_3$ used for an electron-transport and emissive layer were evaporated to be at a deposition rate of $2.5\;{\AA}/s$. When the deposition rate of TPD increased from 1.5 to $3.0\;{\AA}/s$, we studied the efficiency improvement of TPD using the hole-size of crucible is 1.0 mm. When the deposition rate of TPD is $2.5\;{\AA}/s$, we found that the average roughness is rather smoother, the luminous efficiency the external quantum efficiency is superior to the others. Compared to the two from the devices made with the deposition rate of TPD is $2.0\;{\AA}/s$ and $3.0\;{\AA}/s$, the external quantum efficiency was improved by four-times and two-times, respectively.
We intended to make the activated carbon fibers which could separate, remove and recover the volatile organic compounds of benzene, toluene, acetone and methanol. Changing activation temperature and time, large specific surface area and narrow pore distribution could be obtained. The activated carbon fibers have large adsorption capacity and selectivility for those organic compounds. We characterized the adsorption capability of the activated carbon fibers for benzene, toluene, acetone and methanol by BET specific surface area and pore size and micropore volume measurements. In the result of activation, the maximum value of BET specific surface area of the fibers was $1100\m^2$/g at $800^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes and $K_2$O was reduced actively in this condition. Their average pore size was 5.8~5.9$\AA$. The activated carbon fibers prepared in this work had high adsorption rate to saturation and the selectibility for the above organic compounds. The adsorbed amount of acetone and methanol(diameter of$ 4.3\AA$ and $4.4\AA$ respectively) which are smaller than micropore diameter in size was 43~49%, which was larger value than benzene and toluene(in the same diameter as $5.9\AA$).
