A large size flat panel LCD-TV must fulfill different requirements than a desktop LCD-monitor: The contrast must be much larger, the viewing angle should be as wide as possible and the switching times must be shorter to allow moving pictures to be displayed naturally. The "Vertically Aligned" technology is most promising to realize such a product. LC-material development for this technology began at Merck about 10 years ago. New materials based on the 1,1,6,7-tetrafluoroindane skeleton were recently synthesized via ortho-metallation and intramolecular Heck cyclization followed by an oxidative fluorination procedure. The materials offer improved properties over liquid crystals currently employed in flat panel LCD-TVs.

In this study, the room acoustics of a hall in Kimhae Performing Arts Center is discussed. The hall is designed as a multi-purpose hall. The reverberation time of the hall is varied by absorptive/reflective surfaces. A design method using both objective and subjective evaluations is investigated. As a result, the geometrical shape and the interior materials are determined.

The effects of hot carriers and self-heating on the electrical stability of p-channel TFTs have been analysed combining experimental data and numerical simulations. While hot carrier effects were shown not to induce appreciable degradation, self-heating related instability was found to more seriously affect the device characteristics. New models have been developed to explain the reported results.

Bilateral intralobar and extralobar pulmonary sequestration is an extremely rare anomaly. At present, four pathologically proven cases and two possible cases have been reported in the literature insofar as we know. We have found no previous reports in the literature in which simultaneous bilateral intralobar and extralobar pulmonary sequestration were present. We report a first case presenting as bilateral intralobar and extralobar pulmonary sequestration, recently performed staged bilateral resection, and emphasize the importance of computed tomography and angiography in diagnosis and operation.

This paper deals with the factors affecting measurement of sound insulation performance of the ceiling panels. The factors to be experimently examined are as follows: sound diffuseness of the test room by investigating sound pressure distribution, Reverberation time, and influence of speaker location on measured results. Based on the investigation of sound pressure distribution over measuring points, it can draw a conclusion that rectangular shaped rooms as test rooms have a serious problem associated with the diffuse sound field.

We propose a neural network based up-trend detector. An auto-associative neural network was trained with 'up-trend' data obtained from the KOSPI 200 future price. It was then used to predict an up-trend Simple investment strategies based on the detector achieved a two year return of $19.8\%$ with no leverage.

The synthesis and characterization of the nitrile ligands 3,4,5-tridodecyloxy benzonitrile (7) and 3,4,5-trioctadecyloxy benzonitrile (8), and their corresponding palladium(Ⅱ) complexes are described. The nitrile ligands display only a crystalline phase and do not show liquid crystalline behavior, while their corresponding palladium(Ⅱ) complexes dispaly an enantiotropic columnar mesophase. The induction of the columnar mesophase is mainly due to dimerization through the palladium complexation of the half disk-like nitrile ligands giving rise to a trans square planar geometry.

Al - MMC, used as a neutron absorber, shows pitting corrosion and/or galvanic corrosion in 3.5wt.% NaCl solution. If pitting corrosion penetrates the core, neutron absorption performance could be affected. Galvanic corrosion was observed between Al 5052 and Al 1070, and pitting corrosion was observed around $B_4C$.

본 논문에서는 실시간 학습기능을 갖는 다층 신경회로망과 주어지는 인터넷 트래픽 데이터에서의 IDC(Index dispersion for count) 정보를 이용하여 인터넷에서의 공격(침입)을 탐지 예측 할 수 있는 모델을 제안하고 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통한 결과를 보인다.

E. coli in combination with bacteriophage $\lambda$ was used to overcome the intrinsic plasmid instability that is frequently found in recombinant fermentation especially in long-term operation. In order to enhance the stability and productivity, the bacteriophage ${\lambda}NM1070$ was used in this study. It is a $\lambda$ mutant, which is deficient in the synthesis of protein related to DNA packaging and cell lysis. The ${\lambda}NM1070$ is also a temperature-sensitive mutant. To optimize the production of recombinant protein in this temperature-sensitive system, the temperature effects on growth and cloned gene expression were investigated for stable and efficient recombinant gene expression. The induction to the lytic state was not complete at $36^{\circ}C$ while the temperature above $40^{\circ}C$ induced the lytic state completely. However, the productivity was decreased at $42^{\circ}C$ by temperature inhibition. The L-free cell concentration increased with the increase of temperature until $40^{\circ}C$. In conclusion, ${\lambda}NM1070$ has the optimal temperature at $38^{\circ}C$ for stability and at $40^{\circ}C$ for expression.
