  • The purpose of this study was to use phenomenological perspectives to identify the meaning and structure of the exercise experiences in patients with low back pain. The participants were 20 patients who live in one city. The patients were asked to describe their exercise experiences. With permission of the subjects, the interviews were recorded and transcribed. Colaizzi's method was used for the phenomenological analysis. The investigator analysed the data to identify and categorize themes and basic structural elements. The process of the exercise experiences in patients with low back pain has three proposed phases pre-exercise phase, exercise phase, post-exercise phase. 150 formulating meanings, 54 themes, 20 theme clusters were identified. The interview data were organized by theme clusters into 9 categories : 'difficulties with activities of Daily Living', 'Psychological Distress', 'Support', 'Effectiveness after Exercise', 'Confidence of Healing', 'Importance of Exercise', 'Exorcise Self-Efficacy', 'Control', and 'Barrier'. Since the importance of exercise and exercise self-efficacy were identified as significant factors in this study, it may be important to plan nursing interventions to assist clients to realize the exercise self-efficacy and importance of exercise. Also, continuous support from health professionals, family, and experienced persons are needed. Further strategies for reducing barriers should be devised.

Methods: In-depth interviews were conducted with nine study participants who had experience volunteering with children receiving pediatric palliative care. The study analysis was conducted using the Colaizzi method, a rigorous qualitative research method, to develop "intra-group" comparisons among the study participants. Results: Through an analysis of the data, 51 themes, 18 theme clusters, and five main categories were derived. The results confirmed that the experience of university student volunteers in pediatric palliative care can be summarized as "awareness of the role of a volunteer," "difficulties encountered while volunteering," "efforts to overcome the difficulties of volunteer work," "personal reflection," and "awareness of life and death." To this end, a total of three interviews were conducted on seven college students aged 20 to 25. Interview data were conducted through analysis and interpretation using the phenomenological research method, the Giorgi method, and as a result, 40 semantic units were derived, grouped into six sub-components, and divided into three categories. As a result of the analysis, college students' thoughts on artificial abortion consisted of fetal rights, respect for women's rights, and choices for a healthy life. Based on the above meaning, college students' thoughts on artificial abortion were, in conclusion, that considering the happiness of the baby and the quality of life of the woman, consideration for non-marriage mothers was more urgent than legal sanctions, and that abortion was not irresponsible. Accordingly, this study suggests that understanding and consideration for pregnant women should be prioritized over legal sanctions.

  • Purpose : This study was attempted to explore the paramedic student's experience on simulation education. Methods : Data were collected through in-depth interviews from 15 paramedic students. The study was analyzed by phenomenological method, specifically Colaizzi's method. From the protocol, significant statements were organized into formulated meanings. Results : The formulated meanings were identified 35 themes, 12 theme clusters, and 6 categories. The 6 categories include burden of demonstration, role experience as a paramedic, confidence in field treatment, sense of disjunction caused by difference from real situation, realization and learning by oneself, and sense of stability from hypothetical situation. Conclusion : This study suggested that, even though some negative perceptions were observed, simulation education will fit as a replacement for the field practice of paramedic's students given that more field-like practice environment and repetitive simulation education are present.

Participants in this study were twelve elementary school teachers studying at K University Graduate School of Education, located in the central region, who underwent a semi-structured interview. The study method was the phenomenological research method which is one of the qualitative research methods, and the interview papers had been examined by three scientific experts. As a result of the study, it was divided into twenty six themes, eight theme clusters, and two categories, and considered the thoughts on the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident, its influence on Korea, the relationship between science and society as a result of the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident, interested in social issues related to science, application in class, response from students and the influence on students. Teachers had a general understanding of science-related social issues, but did not have much interest in the subject. However, they mentioned that to apply the issues in the curriculum would have a positive influence and encourage scientific motivation in students and, furthermore, helped them to develop the awareness of science in their surroundings.
