A Study on the Development of the Console with LCD Panel for Exterior Advertizing (LCD 패널을 탑재한 옥외 광고용 콘솔 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The development of the console for exterior advertizing LCD Panel(LCD Console) is the purpose of this study with regard to importance of display industry. In this study, the most important point is to develop the cooling system for LCD Console. It is developed by using systematic application techniques and statistical tests and analysis to integrate commercial components, cooling fan, heat sink, thermo electronic modules etc, of it. This study, at first, shows design/manufacturing process of the cooling system and the setting process of control factors to control through experimentation. Next, after constructing the complete console, 46 inch LCD Panel and the cooling system are built in, the performance test of it is shown through experimentation.

A Study of Demerit-DEWMA Control Chart (Demerit-DEWMA 관리도)

  • Complex products may present more than one type of defects and these defects are not always of equal severity. These defects are classified according to their seriousness and effect on product quality and performance. So, demerit systems are very effective systems to monitor the different types of defects. Recently, Kang et al.(2009) proposed the revised Demerit-CUSUM for the evaluation of the Demerit-CUSUM control chart performance exactly. In this paper, we present an advanced Demerit control chart using the double EWMA technique. The double EWMA technique is very efficient and strong method for process control where defects and nonconformities occur with various defect types. Moreover, we compare exact performance of Demerit-CUSUM, Demerit-EWMA and Demerit-DEWMA control chart according to changing sample size or mean shifts magnitude. By the result, we confirm that the performance of Demerit-DEWMA control chart is more than the performance of the Demerit-CUSUM and Demerit-EWMA control chart.

An application of datamining approach to CQI using the discharge summary (퇴원요약 데이터베이스를 이용한 데이터마이닝 기법의 CQI 활동에의 황용 방안)

  • This study provides an application of datamining approach to CQI(Continuous Quality Improvement) using the discharge summary. First, we found a process variation in hospital infection rate by SPC (Statistical Process Control) technique. Second, importance of factors influencing hospital infection was inferred through the decision tree analysis which is a classification method in data-mining approach. The most important factor was surgery followed by comorbidity and length of operation. Comorbidity was further divided into age and principal diagnosis and the length of operation was further divided into age and chief complaint. 24 rules of hospital infection were generated by the decision tree analysis. Of these, 9 rules with predictive prover greater than 50% were suggested as guidelines for hospital infection control. The optimum range of target group in hospital infection control were Identified through the information gain summary. Association rule, which is another kind of datamining method, was performed to analyze the relationship between principal diagnosis and comorbidity. The confidence score, which measures the decree of association, between urinary tract infection and causal bacillus was the highest, followed by the score between postoperative wound disruption find postoperative wound infection. This study demonstrated how datamining approach could be used to provide information to support prospective surveillance of hospital infection. The datamining technique can also be applied to various areas fur CQI using other hospital databases.

  • On-line process control equipment for CO $_{2}$ laser cutting is unavailable for industrial application. The major part of the industrial cutting machines are regulated off-line by highly educated engineers. The quality inspection of the sample is visual and referred to different quality scales. Due to lack of automation potential laser users hesitate to implement the cutting method. The first step toward an automation of the process is development of a process monitoring system and the research is concentrated on the area of on-line quality detection during CO $_{2}$ laser cutting. The method bases on the detection of the emitted light from the cut front by photo diode. the signal from photo diode has been undertaken from Fourier analysis and statistical analysis. As a result, it is possible to estimate striation pattern according to beam travel speed.

A Heuristic Methodology for Fault Diagnosis using Statistical Patterns

  • Process fault diagnosis is a complicated matter because quality control problems can result from a variety of causes. These causes include problems with electrical components, mechanical components, human errors, job justification errors, and air conditioning influences. In order to make the system run smoothly with minimum delay, it is necessary to suggest heuristic remedies for the detected faults. Hence, this paper describes a heuristic methodology of fault diagnosis that is performed using statistical patterns generated by quality characteristics The proposed methodology is described briefly as follows: If a sample pattern generated by random variables is similar to the number of prototype patterns, the sample pattern may be matched by any prototype pattern among them to be resembled. This concept is based on the similarity between a sample pattern and the matched prototype pattern. The similarity is calculated as the weighted average of squared deviation, which is expressed as the difference between the relative values of standard normal distribution to be transformed by the observed values of quality characteristics in a sample pattern and the critical values of the corresponding ones in a matched prototype pattern.

  • In this paper a control chart pattern recognition methodology based on the back propagation algorithm and Multi layer perceptron, a neural computing theory, is presented. This pattern recognition algorithm, suitable for real time statistical process control. evaluates observations routinely collected for control charting to determine whether a Pattern, such as a cycle. trend or shift, which is exists in the data. This approach is promising because of its flexible training and high speed computation with low-end workstation. The artificial neural network methodology is developed utilizing the delta learning rule, sigmoid activation function with two hidden layers. In a computer integrated manufacturing environment, the operator need not routinely monitor the control chart but, rather, can be alerted to patterns by a computer signal generated by the proposed system.

  • In these days of world-wide business environment, the characteristics of quality management are variety, specialty, decentralization, totality, etc. Thus nowadays quality management is demanded to incorporate these new concepts. We propose a web-bused distributed expert system for this purpose. The system consists of four expert systems for design of experiment, acceptance inspection, statistical process control and reliability management corresponding to design quality, incoming-material quality, manufacturing quality and usability quality, respectively, throughout the total product life cycle. Each distributed expert system at the horizontal level in the hierarchy carries out its own quality jobs independently. At the lower level in the hierarchy there is an expert system for measurement analysis to provide reliable data, and at the upper level, an expert system for total quality management to coordinate, integrate and make final decisions. A prototype has been developed and its application is presented.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a process management system to manage ingot fabrication and the quality of the ingot. The ingot is the first manufactured material of wafers. Operating data (trace parameters) were collected on-line but quality data (measurement parameters) were measured by sampling inspection. The quality parameters were applied to evaluate the quality. Thus, preprocessing was necessary to extract useful information from the quality data. First, statistical methods were employed for data generation, and then modeling was accomplished, using the generated data, to improve the performance of the models. The function of the models is to predict the quality corresponding to the control parameters. The dynamic polynomial neural network (DPNN) was used for data modeling that used the ingot fabrication data.

Due to the lack of automation the potential laser users hesitate to implement the cutting method. The first step toward an automation of the process is the development of a process monitoring system and the research is cincentrated on the area of on-line quality monitoring during CO$_{2}$ laser cutting. The method is based on the detection of the emitted light from the cutting front by photo diode. The developed monitoring system consists of the OP Amplifier, A/D convertor, power supply and PC. The signal from the photo diode has been undertaken from Fourier analysis and statistical analysis with real time. The photograph of striation pattern was taken by metallurgical microscope. As a result, it is possible to predict the striation pattern according to the beam traveling speed.

Real-time evaluation of automatic production quality control for friction welding machine (摩擦熔接機械 의 自動생산品質制御 實時間 評價)

  • Both in-process quality control and high reliability of the weld is one of the major concerns in applying friction welding to the economical and qualified mass-production. No reliable nondestructive monitoring method is available at present to determine the real-time evaluation of automatic production quality control for friction welding machine. This paper, so that, presents the experimental examinations and statistical quantitative analysis of the correlation between the initial cumulative counts of acoustic emission(AE) occurring during plastic deformation period of the welding and the tensile strength of the welded joints as well as the various welding variables, as a new approach which attempts finally to develop an on-line (or real-time) quality monitoring system and a program for the process of real-time friction welding quality evaluation by initial AE cumulative counts. As one of the important results, it was well confirmed that the initial AE cumulative counts were quantitatively and cubically correlated with reliability of 95% confidence level to the joint strength of the welds, bar-to-bar (SCM4 to SUM31, SCM4 to SUM24L) and that an AE technique using initial AE counts can be reliably applied to real-time strength evaluation of the welded joints, and that such a program of the system was well developed resulting in practical possibility of real-time quality control more than 100% joint efficiency showing good weld with no micro-structural defects.
