산사태 모니터링을 위한 지상라이다 자료의 정확도 평가 (An Accuracy Assessment of the Terrestrial LiDAR for Landslide Monitoring)

  • 우리나라는 여름철 집중호우와 태풍으로 인해 산사태가 빈번히 발생하고 있으며, 이로 인해 많은 인명피해와 경제적 손실이 발생하고 있다. 특히 강원도 지역의 대부분 도로가 산악지형에 위치하고 있어 산사태의 위험에 노출되어 있다. 따라서 산사태를 막기 위한 대책마련이 시급한 실정이며, 이를 위해 다양한 사면조사 및 사면유지관리를 위한 첨단 관측기술이 요구되고 있다. 최근에는 광섬유 센서, GPS, CCD 카메라, Total Station, 위성영상을 이용한 사면관측 기술이 활용되고 있으나 경제성, 정밀성, 효율성 등의 제약으로 인해 활용빈도가 떨어지고 있는 실정이다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 지상라이다를 이용하여 시범사면을 모니터링한 후 정확도를 평가함으로써, 지상라이다의 사면관측을 위한 적용 가능성을 분석하고자 하였다. 그 결과 수 mm의 미세변위를 높은 정확도로 관측할 수 있었으며, 신속하게 사면의 지형정보를 획득할 수 있었다.

산업융합을 위한 소프트웨어 기반 서비스모델 평가방법론에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Software Service Model Evaluation Methodology for Industry Convergence)

  • SW 기반 서비스모델은 지식기반 경제에 있어 국가 선진화와 국민 경제 발전을 견인하기 위해 필요한 전략산업으로 평가받고 있으며, 공익성과 수익성의 특징을 모두 가지고 있어 평가 또한 민간의 측면과 공공의 측면을 모두 반영한 지표를 통해 평가를 수행해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 기존 비즈니스모델 평가와 관련한 연구와 기술개발 관련 평가기법, 공공부문 평가기법 등을 종합적으로 고려하여 전문가그룹 분석을 통해 SW 기반 서비스모델의 평가모형을 도출하고, AHP 분석기법을 이용해 평가영역 및 평가항목간의 중요도를 차별적으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 민간 비즈니스모델과 공공사업 평가항목, SW 서비스모델의 특징을 반영한 5개 상위항목과 15개 하위항목을 도출하였고, 항목별 가중치를 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 향후 민간 또는 공공에서 우수한 SW 기반 서비스모델 선정을 위한 유용한 가이드라인을 제시할 것으로 기대된다.

전주지역 강수의 황동위원소비와 대기오염원의 추적자로서 그 유용성 (Sulfur Isotopic Ratios in Precipitation around Chonju-city, Korea and Its Availability as a Tracer of the Source of Atmospheric Pollutants)

  • In order to investigate the origin of sulfate in rain waters and to evaluate the feasibility of using sulfur isotope method as a tracer of atmospheric pollutants, the sulfur isotopic ratio of sulfate in rain waters collected in Chonju city from October 1994 to March 1995 was monitored and was compared with those of possible sources proposed by previous works. The pH of rain waters shows an intermediate acidic range from 4.45 to 6.88 and their daily variation appears to be well correlated with to the amount of precipitation. The sulfur isotopic ratios of sulfate in rain waters show a highly restricted range from 0.0 to + 1.8‰. The ${\delta}^{34}S$ values are similar to those of soil and pine tree surrounding Chonju city, but largely deviate from those of China. D-parameter($d={\delta}D-8{\delta}^{18}O$) of rain waters varies from 9.4 to 28.8. The values indicate that the rain waters in Chonju city are originated from the rainy front of China continent. All data obtained from this study suggested that sulfate in the rain waters collected in Chonju city was mainly derived from the sulfur dioxide gas emitted by the petroleum combustion. Therefore, sulfur isotopic study for the precipitation provided an excellent tool for environmental assessment in this region and for tracing the source of atmospheric pollutants.

Effect of sodium restriction on blood pressure of unstable or uncontrolled hypertensive patients in primary care

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The aims of the present study are: 1) to quantify sodium consumption of patients with unstable or uncontrolled hypertension, 2) to investigate if reduced sodium intake can lower BP in these patients, and 3), to assess the acceptability and feasibility of this approach. SUBJECTS/METHODS: This study included 25 adults (age: 50+ years) with frequently elevated BP or patients with uncontrolled, uncomplicated hypertension despite drug treatment in a general practice setting. BP and salt intake (24h urinary excretion and food records) were measured at baseline and after a sodium reduced diet. RESULTS: Mean (${\pm}SD$) systolic (SBP) over diastolic (DBP) blood pressure (mmHg) at baseline was $150.7({\pm}9.5)$/$84.149({\pm}5.6)$. Mean urinary sodium excretion was 146 mmol/24h. A reduction of 28 mmol sodium excretion decreased SBP/DBP to $135.5({\pm}13.0)$/$82.5({\pm}12.8)$ (P < 0.001). After one month of no dietary advice, only in 48%, SBP was still ${\leq}140mmHg$. CONCLUSION: Assessment of sodium intake using food records, 24h urine collections and probing questions to identify use of sodium containing supplements or drugs are essential for tailored advice targeted at sodium intake reduction. The results of the present study indicate that reduced sodium intake can lower BP after 4 weeks in unstable or uncontrolled hypertensive patients.

Assessment of Scale Effects on Dynamics of Water Quality and Quantity for Sustainable Paddy Field Agriculture

  • Modeling non-point pollution across multiple scales has become an important environmental issue. As a more representative and practical approach in quantifying and qualifying surface water, a modular neural network (MNN) was implemented in this study. Two different site-scales ($1.5\;{\times}\;10^5$ and $1.62\;{\times}\;10^6\;m^2$) with the same plants, soils, and paddy field management practices, were selected. Hydrologic data (rainfall, irrigation and surface discharge) and water quality data (time-series nutrient loadings) were continuously monitored and then used for the verification of MNN performance. Correlation coefficients (R) for the results predicted from the networks versus measured values were within the range of 0.41 to 0.95. The small block could be extrapolated to the large field for the rainfall-surface drainage process. Nutrient prediction produced less favorable results due to the complex phenomena of nutrients in the drainage water. However, the feasibility of using MNN to generate improved prediction accuracy was demonstrated if more hydrologic and environmental data are provided. The study findings confirmed the estimation accuracy of the upscaling from a small-segment block to large-scale paddy field, thereby contributing to the establishment of water quality management for sustainable agriculture.

Bottom Ash를 재활용한 저강도 고유동 재료의 내구성 및 환경영향 평가 (Durability Characteristics and Environmental Assessment of Controlled tow-Strength Materials Using Bottom Ash)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 저강도 고유동 재료(CLSM)로서 매립처리 되는 bottom ash의 재활용 가능성을 실험하는데 있다. 저강도 고유동 재료는 포틀랜드 시멘트, 플라이애시, 모래, 물의 혼합으로 만들어지는 결합성 재료로서 재료의 타설과 동시에 유동성과 셀프레벨링성을 나타낸다. 플라이애시만을 사용한 배합이 bottom ash가 저강도 고유동 재료로서 사용가능한 내구성능을 나타내는지 비교하기 위하여 같이 실험되었다. bottom ash를 사용한 배합의 내구성능은 해로운 물리, 화학적 환경에서 실험되었으며 그 결과로서 bottom ash를 사용한 저강도 고유동 재료의 내구성능은 비구조 부재의 충전을 위한 적용분야에서 사용가능하게 나타났다. 또한 bottom ash를 첨가한 저강도 고유동 재료는 환경적으로도 안전하게 나타났다.

친환경 에너지 개발 기술 최적 조합 선정을 위한구조적 방법론: 풍력 발전 기술 조합 선정을 중심으로 (A Structured Methodology of Optimal Combination of Eco-Energy Development Technologies: Focusing on Wind Power Technology Combination)

  • 현재 전 세계적으로 환경오염과 자원위기 등 문제를 해결하기 위한 친환경 에너지와 관련된 기술 개발 투자가 확대되고 있다. 이러한 기술 개발 프로젝트는 국가적, 대규모적일수록 단일 기술이 아니라 여러 가지의 요소 기술들이 같이 개발되는 형태를 취하게 된다. 그러나 어떠한 기술 조합을 개발하는 것이 좋은지에 대한 의사결정을 하여 주는 방법론은 거의 존재하지 않는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구의 목적은 최적의 친환경 에너지 기술 조합을 선정하는 방법론을 제안하는 것이다. 개발 기술들을 여러 개의 카테고리로 분류한 다음, 가장 근간이 되는 기준기술을 정하고, 해당 기준기술과의 관련성과 개발 성공에 대한 위험성이라고는 두 가지 차원과 관련성 및 위험성의 상대적 중요도를 고려하여 각 카테고리 별로 최적의 기술을 선정하게 된다. 제안한 선정 방법론의 가능성을 검증하기 위하여 풍력 발전 기술 조합 선정에 대한 사례에 적용해 보았다.

다자간 원자력 협력: 요소와 현안 (Multilateral Nuclear Approaches (MNAs), Factors and Issues Lessons from IAEA Study to Regional Cooperation)

  • In response to the increasing emphasis being placed on the importance of international cooperation as part of global efforts to cope with growing non proliferation, and security, concerns in the nuclear field, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohamed ElBaradei, appointed an international group of experts to consider possible multilateral approaches to the nuclear fuel cycle. The mandate of the Expert Group was three fold: ${\bullet}$ To identify and provide an analysis of issues and options relevant to multilateral approaches to the front and back ends of the nuclear fuel cycle; ${\bullet}$ To provide an overview of the policy, legal, security, economic, institutional and technological incentives and disincentives for cooperation in multilateral arrangements for the front and back ends of the nuclear fuel cycle; and ${\bullet}$ To provide a brief review of the historical and current experiences and analyses relating to multilateral fuel cycle arrangements relevant to the work of the Expert Group. The overall purpose was to assess MNAs in the framework of a double objective: strengthening the international nuclear non proliferation regime and making the peaceful uses of nuclear energy more economical and attractive. The Group identifies options for MNAs - options in terms of policy, institutional and legal factors - for those parts of the nuclear fuel cycle of greatest sensitivity from the point of view of proliferation risk. It also reflects the Groups deliberations on the corresponding benefits and disadvantages (pros and cons) of the various options and approaches. Although the Expert Group was able to agree to forward the resulting report to the Director General, it is important to note that the report does not reflect agreement by all of the experts on any of the options, nor a consensus assessment of their respective value. It is intended only to present options for MNAs, and to reflect on the range of considerations which could impact on the desirability and feasibility of those options.

Analysis of Empirical Constant of Eddy Viscosity by Zero- and One-Equation Turbulence Model in Wake Simulation

  • In this paper, the wakes behind a square cylinder were simulated using two kinds of different turbulence models for the eddy viscosity concept such as the zero- and the one-equation model in which the former is the mixing length model and the latter is the k-equation model. For comparison between numerical and analytical solutions, we employed three skill assessments: the correlation coefficient(r) for the similarity of the wake shape, the error of maximum velocity difference(EMVD) for the accuracy of wake velocity and the ratio of drag coefficient(RDC) for the pressure distribution around the structure. On the basis of the numerical results, the feasibility of each model for wake simulation was discussed and a suitable value for the empirical constant was suggested in these turbulence models. The zero-equation model, known as the simplest turbulence model, overestimated the EMVD and its absolute mean error(AME) for r, EMVD and RDC was ranging from 20.3 % to 56.3 % for all test. But the AME by the one-equation model was ranging from 3.4 % to 19.9 %. The predicted values of the one-equation model substantially agreed with the analytical solutions at the empirical mixing length scale $L=0.6b_{1/2}$ with the AME of 3.4 %. Therefore it was concluded that the one-equation model was suitable for the wake simulation behind a square cylinder when the empirical constant for eddy viscosity would be properly chosen.

ICT 기반 노인간호 역량 개발: 우울증 측정 사례를 중심으로 (Developing Geriatric Nursing Competency Using Information and Communication Technology: Focusing on a Case of Depression Assessment)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to describe problems and solutions for older adults living alone and using wearable devices to report depressive moods in daily life. In addition, gerontology nurses' competencies and strategies were discussed based on lessons learned from the observational study. Methods: A hybrid method was used, combining literature review and content analyses based on interviews with 53 participants and observations done by the research team. Results: Main issues and relevant strategies were identified in terms of (1) applicability of information and communications technology (ICT) devices for older adults, (2) feasibility of older adults' use of ICT devices, (3) integration of ICT devices into daily life, and (4) relevant issues when older adults use ICT. Important roles and competencies were discussed regarding general and gerontology aspects of ICT. Conclusion: Findings indicate that a wearable device is feasible to measure daily depressive moods in older adults living alone in community settings. To extend our research protocol to practice, gerontology nurses must adequately prepare to meet emerging health care trends and end users' needs for ICT-based nursing. It is necessary to develop diverse educational programs and active involvement in research and design of relevant devices and programs.
