Mobility-Based Clustering Algorithm for Multimedia Broadcasting over IEEE 802.11p-LTE-enabled VANET

  • Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) facilities envision future Intelligent Transporting Systems (ITSs) by providing inter-vehicle communication for metrics such as road surveillance, traffic information, and road condition. In recent years, vehicle manufacturers, researchers and academicians have devoted significant attention to vehicular communication technology because of its highly dynamic connectivity and self-organized, decentralized networking characteristics. However, due to VANET's high mobility, dynamic network topology and low communication coverage, dissemination of large data packets (e.g. multimedia content) is challenging. Clustering enhances network performance by maintaining communication link stability, sharing network resources and efficiently using bandwidth among nodes. This paper proposes a mobility-based, multi-hop clustering algorithm, (MBCA) for multimedia content broadcasting over an IEEE 802.11p-LTE-enabled hybrid VANET architecture. The OMNeT++ network simulator and a SUMO traffic generator are used to simulate a network scenario. The simulation results indicate that the proposed clustering algorithm over a hybrid VANET architecture improves the overall network stability and performance, resulting in an overall 20% increased cluster head duration, 20% increased cluster member duration, lower cluster overhead, 15% improved data packet delivery ratio and lower network delay from the referenced schemes [46], [47] and [50] during multimedia content dissemination over VANET.

  • In ubiquitous environments, the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) protocol is a typical service used to improve the quality of life for humans. The Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) protocol, a part of ITS, needs further study with regards to its support for high reliability, high speed mobility, data transmission efficiency, and so on. The IEEE 802.11 standard provides a high data rate channel, but it was designed for peer-to-peer network protocols. IEEE 802.11p also provides a high data rate channel, however, it only facilitates communication between roadside and on-board equipment. A VANET has characteristics that enable its topology to change rapidly; it can also be expanded to a multi-hop range network during communication. Therefore, the VANET protocol needs a way to infer the current topology information relating to VANET equipped vehicles. In this paper, we present the Multi-Beacon MAC Protocol, and propose a method to resolve the problem of beacon collisions in VANET through the use of this Multi-Beacon MAC protocol. Evaluation of the performance of Multi-Beacon MAC protocol by means of both mathematical analyses and simulation experiments indicate that the proposed method can effectively reduce beacon collisions and improve the throughput and the delay between vehicles in VANET systems.

DGS를 이용한 이중대역 무선 랜 송신부 설계 (Design of Dual Band Wireless LAN Transmitter Using DGS)

  • 본 논문은 입력 주파수대역에 따라 전력증폭기와 주파수 체배기로 동작하는 새로운 이중대역 송신모듈을 제안하고, 그 성능 개선을 위하여 DGS를 이용할 수 있음을 보였다. 일반적인 무선 랜 송신부는 두 주파수 대역에서 동작하기 위하여, 각각의 주파수 대역에서 동작하는 증폭부가 분리되어 구성되어 있으나, 제안한 이중대역 송신모듈은 하나의 송신모듈을 이용하여 입력되는 주파수와 인가하는 바이어스 전압에 따라, IEEE 802.11b/g 신호에 대해서는 증폭기로 동작하고 IEEE 802.11a 신호에 대해서는 주파수 체배기로 동작하여 두 주파수 대역에서 동작 가능하도록 하였다. 또한 출력단의 접지면을 식각하는 DGS를 이용하여, 주파수 체배기로 동작시 입력주파수의 억압뿐만 아니라 증폭기로 동작시 2차고조파를 억압하도록 하였다. 측정결과, 증폭기 모드에서 2차고조파의 억압은 -59dBc.이하이고, 주파수 체배기 모드에서 입력주파수의 억압은 -35dBc이하였다. 그리고 설계된 이중대역 송신모듈은 증폭기모드와 주파수 체배기모드에서 각각 17.8dBm의 출력P1dB와 10.1dBm의 최대 출력전력을 나타냈으며, 이는 ${\lambda}g/4$ 반사기를 사용한 모듈과 비교하여 각각 0.8dB, 2.8dB의 출력 전력이 향상되었다.

A Fully Integrated 5-GHz CMOS Power Amplifier for IEEE 802.11a WLAN Applications

  • A fully integrated 5-GHz CMOS power amplifier for IEEE 802.11a WLAN applications is implemented using $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. An on-chip transmission-line transformer is used for output matching network and voltage combining. Input balun, inter-stage matching components, output transmission line transformer and RF chokes are fully integrated in the designed amplifier so that no external components are required. The power amplifier occupies a total area of $1.7mm{\times}1.2mm$. At a 3.3-V supply voltage, the amplifier exhibits a 22.6-dBm output 1-dB compression point, 23.8-dBm saturated output power, 25-dB power gain. The measured power added efficiency (PAE) is 20.1 % at max. peak, 18.8% at P1dB. When 54 Mbps/64 QAM OFDM signal is applied, the PA delivers 12dBm of average power at the EVM of -25dB.

  • 본 논문에서는 ICT기반의 차상제어 시스템 구현을 위하여 열차와 지상시스템간 데이터 송수신을 위하여 OFDM 기반의 무선랜 (802.11a 및 p)을 적용한 수신기 설계 기술에 대해 연구하고 성능 평가를 통하여 적용가능성을 확인하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 기존 전송 포맷을 유지하고 coherent 복조를 가정하면 성능은 (주파수 오프셋의 영향을 무시할 경우) 수신단에서의 채널 추정 성능에 거의 전적으로 의존하게 될 것인데 기본적으로 Preamble을 이용한 1차 추정과 Decision directed mode로 동작하는 2차 추정을 모두 고려하여 수신 알고리즘을 설계해야 한다. 본 논문에서는, 높은 mobility를 고려하여 decision-directed mode로 동작 가능한 주파수 영역 등화기의 설계에 초점을 두고 알고리즘 설계 및 성능 평가를 수행하였다.

Suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) for isolation and characterization of genes related to testicular development in the giant tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon

  • Suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) cDNA libraries of the giant tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon, were constructed. In total, 178 and 187 clones from the forward and reverse SSH libraries, respectively, of P. monodon were unidirectionally sequenced. From these, 37.1% and 53.5% Expressed Sequence Tags (ESTs) significantly matched known genes (E-value < 1e-04). Three isoforms of P. monodon progestin membrane receptor component 1: PM-PGMRC1-s (1980 bp), PM-PGMRC1- m (2848 bp), and PM-PGMRC1-l (2971 bp), with an identical ORF of 573 bp corresponding to a deduced polypeptide of 190 amino acids, were successfully identified by RACE-PCR. Interestingly, PMPGMRC1 showed a greater expression level in testes of juvenile than broodstock P. monodon (P < 0.05). Dopamine administration ($10^{-6}$ mol/shrimp) resulted in up-regulation of PM-PGMRC1 in testes of juveniles at 3 hrs post treatment (P < 0.05), but had no effect on PM-Dmc1 (P > 0.05).

수지침이 과민성 장 증후군 여대생의 장 증상과 정신건강에 미치는 효과 (A Study on the Effect of the Hand Acupuncture on IBS-affected College Women's Bowel Symptoms and Psychologic Health)

  • Purpose: to determine the effects of hand acupuncture on IBS-affected college women's bowel symptoms and psychologic health by applying the therapy to them. Method: The researcher sampled the nursing student attending a college of nursing science in Seoul and checked if they were affected by IBS in reference to the Rome II Criteria. Students were classified into a experimental group(21 subjects) and a control group(19 subjects). Hand acupuncture was applied to the experimental group 8 rounds for 4 weeks; each round lasted 30 minutes. Data were collected for 8 weeks from October 11 to December 1, 2004. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 program. Result: After the therapy, frequency(p=.005), distress(p=.001) and disability (p=.000) associated IBS bowel symptom and anxiety were significantly lowered in the experimental group(p=.026). Conclusions: It was confirmed through this study that the hand acupuncture would be effective in relieving IBS bowel symptoms and anxiety.

  • [Cu(L)](ClO4)2(1)(L:3,5,10,12-Tetramethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) 착물을 합성하고 구조를 규명하였다. 이 착물은 단순결정, 공간군 P21/n, a=8.802(2)Å, b=13.339(6) Å, c=10.752(5) Å, β=111.02(4)˚, Z=2로 결정화 되었다. 이착물의구조는 최소자승법으로 정밀화 하였으며, 최종 신뢰도 R(Rw)값은 617개의 회석반점에 대하여 0.073및 0.142이었다. 이 착물의 결정구조는 평면사각구조와 trans-III형태를 갖는다.

Performance Modelling of Adaptive VANET with Enhanced Priority Scheme

  • In this paper, we present an analytical and simulated study on the performance of adaptive vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) priority based on Transmission Distance Reliability Range (TDRR) and data type. VANET topology changes rapidly due to its inherent nature of high mobility nodes and unpredictable environments. Therefore, nodes in VANET must be able to adapt to the ever changing environment and optimize parameters to enhance performance. However, there is a lack of adaptability in the current VANET scheme. Existing VANET IEEE802.11p's Enhanced Distributed Channel Access; EDCA assigns priority solely based on data type. In this paper, we propose a new priority scheme which utilizes Markov model to perform TDRR prediction and assign priorities based on the proposed Markov TDRR Prediction with Enhanced Priority VANET Scheme (MarPVS). Subsequently, we performed an analytical study on MarPVS performance modeling. In particular, considering five different priority levels defined in MarPVS, we derived the probability of successful transmission, the number of low priority messages in back off process and concurrent low priority transmission. Finally, the results are used to derive the average transmission delay for data types defined in MarPVS. Numerical results are provided along with simulation results which confirm the accuracy of the proposed analysis. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed MarPVS results in lower transmission latency and higher packet success rate in comparison with the default IEEE802.11p scheme and greedy scheduler scheme.

차량 네트워크에서 Ultra-low latency 구현을 위한 TDMA 기반 MAC 프로토콜 (TDMA-based MAC Protocol for Implementation of Ultra-low latency in Vehicular networks)

  • 차량 네트워크, 분산 로봇과 사이버 물리 시스템 등 mission-critical 환경에서 동작하는 서비스들은 기존 서비스에 비해 latency에 대한 요구사항이 훨씬 엄격하다. 그 중 자율주행 차량 간 통신은 급격히 부상하고 있는 애플리케이션 영역으로 수 ms 수준의 엄격한 latency 요구사항을 가진다. 802.11p나 LTE-direct standards를 이용하는 현재 시스템은 이러한 수준의 ultra-low latency를 만족하지 못한다. 현재, 전체 latency의 상당부분을 medium access가 차지하기 때문에, 이 부분의 해결을 위해서는 Layer2를 수정할 필요가 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 MAC layer에 초점을 맞추어 coordinator에 의한 scheduling 없이 join/leave가 자유로운 Autonomous TDMA(ATDMA)를 고안하여 scalable하면서 latency가 보장되는 MAC을 구현하였다. 또한 WAVE 프로토콜과의 비교를 통해 알고리즘의 성능을 평가하였다.
