Al 7075/CFRP 다적층 하이브리드 복합재료의 피로수명에 대한 연구 (A study on fatigue life of Al 7075/CFRP multilayered hybrid composite materials)

  • In this research, to develope the A1 7075/CFRP multilayered hybrid composites, CRALL(Carbon Reinforced aluminum lamiate) specimens were processed by autoclavecuring system that curing temperature, time, surface pretreatment condition of aluminum were constant. Andthe fatigye life and failure mechanism on CFRP volume fraction and fiber orientation of CRALLspecimens were investigated. A fatigue life was greatly influenced by effect of CFRP fiber volume fraction but it was less effected than those of fiber orientation. The fatigue failure arised from interface delamination of CFRP and aluminum sheet after shear fracture of aluminum layer. The failure mechanism is assumed that the aluminum laminates which divide the CFRP into many thim layers tend to arrest the failure propagation.

  • The effect of cooling rate on the solidification microstructure and segregation behavior of 7075 and 7050 aluminum alloy was investigated. Samples were solidified with cooling rates from 0.3 to $17^{\circ}K/sec$. Using the cooling curves of each sample, liquidus, eutectic and intermetallic reaction temperatures were estimated. The microstructures were characterized in terms of dendrite arm spacing and eutectic volume fraction. The segregation behavior of each alloying element of these alloys in various cooling rates was discussed.

  • Al1050 and Al7075 alloy specimens were exposed to atmospheric conditions for maximum 12 months and analyzed by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) to characterize the early-stage corrosion behavior and thin surface oxide layers. By comparing of oxide films between Al1050 and Al7075 alloys, it is concluded that Al7075 has a relatively thicker surface oxide film than Al1050 but Al1050 has relatively more significant oxygen penetration through grain boundaries. The oxygen penetration through grain boundaries appeared to be influenced by intermetallic particles at the grain boundary. In the case of aluminum alloys, localized corrosion like pitting or intergranular corrosion should be considered as well as uniform corrosion when estimating the atmospheric corrosion rate.

  • The present study focuses on 7075 aluminum wrought alloy to investigate the potential industrial applications of thixoextrusion process. The microstructural evolution of 7075 aluminum wrought alloy for thixoextrusion has been investigated as a function of isothermal holding temperature and time in the partially remelted semisolid state. The results showed that the liquid fraction increased with increasing isothermal holding temperature and time while the average grain size was inversely proportional to isothermal holding temperature and time up to 5min. However, there was no big change of liquid fraction and average grain size with respect to isothermal holding temperature and time. The important fact that the liquid fraction and average grain size were almost uniform after 5 min holding time is considered very useful for thixoextrusion in terms of process control.

  • Hydroformability of 6061 and 7075 aluminum tube materials was studied by warm hydroforming experiments. A special tooling and heating system was designed and manufactured in order to perform warm hydroforming between room temperature and $300^{\circ}C$. The control of tube temperature for warm hydroforming was made by the control of temperature of oil medium. Warm hydroformability was analyzed by tube appearances, tube elongation and hardness values. Hydroforming characteristics of 6061 and 7075 tubes showed different temperature dependence between room temperature and $300^{\circ}C$. The difference in hydroformabilities of 6061 and 7075 at elevated temperatures was interpreted by the different sensitivity to dynamic strain aging of both aluminum materials.

  • Thixo-extrusion of semi-solid 7075 aluminum alloy and the mechanical properties of its extrudates were investigated. The semisolid alloy was prepared by a cooling slope cast. In other to perform thixo-extrusion, semi-solid 7075 aluminum alloy billets were reheated at the reheating conditions reported in a previous study. The maximum extrusion pressure in thixo-extrusion was 615MPa. This was lower than that of conventional hot extrusion ($P_{max}=940MPa$) at the same extrusion conditions due to the increased fluidity of the alloy billet in the semi-solid state. The values of Rockwell hardness (scale B) at the extrusion direction of the as thixoextruded bar were 48~53HRB and the difference in Rockwell hardness between the transverse direction and the extrusion direction was 5HRB or less. The results show that thxio-extrusion of semi-solid 7075 Al alloy improves the workability and anisotropic with the extrusion direction compared with hot extrusion of the conventional alloy.

Control of Galvanic Corrosion Between A516Gr.55 Steel and AA7075T6 Depending on NaCl Concentration and Solution Temperature

  • Chloride ion is one of the most important corrosive agents in atmospheric corrosion, especially in marine environments. It has high adsorption rate and increases the conductivity of electrolytes. Since chloride ions affect the protective properties and the surface composition of the corrosion product, they increase the corrosion rate. A low level of chloride ions leads to uniform corrosion, whereas a high level of chloride ions may induce localized corrosion. However, higher solution temperatures tend to increase the corrosion rate by enhancing the migration of oxygen in the solution. This work focused on the effect of NaCl concentration and temperature on galvanic corrosion between A516Gr.55 carbon steel and AA7075T6 aluminum alloys. When AA7075T6 aluminum alloy was galvanically coupled to A516Gr.55 carbon steel, AA7075T6 was severely corroded regardless of NaCl concentration and solution temperature, unlike the corrosion properties of single specimen. The combined effect of surface treatment involving carbon steel and aluminum alloy on corrosion behavior was also discussed.

용접 조건이 Al-7075-T651의 마찰교반용접부의 인장 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Welding Condition on Tensile Properties of Friction Stir Welded Joints of Al-7075-T651 Plate)

  • This paper investigates the tensile properties of the friction stir welded joints of Al 7075-T651 aluminum plate according to the welding conditions. A 7075-T651 aluminum alloy plate with a thickness of 6.0 mm was used in this investigation. For the friction stir welding (FSW) process, a tool with shoulder diameter of 20 mm and probe diameter of 9 mm was used. The rotation speed and traverse speed conditions were changed in this study, the other welding conditions are constant. The welding direction was aligned with the material rolling direction, and dimension of the FSW plate were $250{\times}100{\times}6\;mm$. As far as this work is concerned, the optimal FSW conditions are determined as the rotation speed, 600 rpm and traverse speed 0.8 mm/sec or the rotation speed, 800 rpm and traverse speed 0.5 mm/sec.

Wear Mechanism of CrN Coating on Aluminum Alloys Deposited by AIP Method

  • Dry sliding wear and friction test of CrN coaling on two types of aluminum alloy substrates,6061 Al and 7075 Al deposited by arc ion plating, was peformed with a ball-on-disk tribometer. The effects of normal Bead and the mechanical properties of substrate on the friction coefficient and wear-resistance of CrN coating were investigated. The worn surfaces were observed by SEM. The results show that surface micro-hardness of CrN- coated 7075 Al is higher than that of CrN-coated 6061 Al. With an increase in normal lead, wear volume increases, while the friction coefficient decreases. The friction coefficient of CrN-coated 6061 Al is higher than that of CrN-coated 7075 Al, while the wear-resistance of CrN-coated 6061 Al is lower than the CrN-coated 7075 Al's, which indicates that the substrate mechanical properties have strong inf1uences on the friction coefficient and wear of CrN coating. The main wear mechanism was fragments of CrN coating, which were caused by apparent plastic deformation of substrate during wear test.
