Data were collected from 392 4th and 6th grade students by questionnaires and analyzed by Pearson's correlation, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis. More problem behavior was reported by 4th than by 6th graders and by boys than by girls; the gender difference was larger in 4th than 6th graders. Low school satisfaction, authoritative parenting, male gender, and higher age predicted problem behavior. Within group variables that predicted problem behavior were low authoritative parenting, low school satisfaction. Male gender, and low self-control in the 4th graders ; low self-control and school satisfaction in the 6th graders; low authoritative parenting and school satisfaction in girls ; and low school satisfaction, higher age, and low self-control in boys.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships among Korean early adolescents' perceived negative parenting practices, trajectories of mobile phone dependency(MPD), and self-regulated learning(SRL), while taking into account gender differences. Early adolescents are required to acquire self-regulation in Korean cultural contexts of a strong emphasis on academic achievement and recent technological advancements. The study made use of data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Study(KCYPS), and three waves of data collected from 1,953 adolescents in $7^{th}$, $8^{th}$ and $9^{th}$ grade were analyzed. The results can be summarized as follows. Growth-curve longitudinal analysis indicates that their initial value of MPD through $7^{th}$ to $9^{th}$ grade had increased, but the initial value and rate of change were significantly different according to gender. Furthermore, the results of multiple group analysis revealed that some path weights appeared different according to gender. For male students, the rate of change in MPD did not have a significant effect on either SRL in $7^{th}$ or $9^{th}$ grade, whereas for female students, it predicted the existence of significant relationships with them. The implications of these findings were also discussed.
Purpose: The goal of this study was to find out factors influencing the health promotion behavior of low-income vulnerable 4th, 5th and 6th-grade elementary school students. The specific goals were: first, to find out difference in health knowledge, self-esteem and health promotion behavior according to general characteristics; second, to investigate the correlations among health knowledge, self-esteem and health promotion: and, third, to analyze factors influencing health promotion behavior. Methods: The subjects of this study were 137 low-income vulnerable 4th, 5th and 6th-grade elementary school children who were participating after-school programs in Seoul. Results: Statistically significant differences were observed in health knowledge, self-esteem and health promotion behavior between girls and boys. In the sub categories, differences were observed in personal hygiene and health responsibility, stress management and personal relationship. The correlation of health promotion behavior with self-esteem and health knowledge was statistically significant. Regression analysis revealed that the influencing factor is self-esteem with the other variables under control. Conclusion: Health promotion education requires low-income vulnerable elementary children to increase their self-esteem. We recommend that it should be one of the most effective ways to split boys and girls to educate them in disparate classrooms.
This purpose of this study was to provide the basic data for preventing dental caries, and maintaining and enhancing Oral health education. The subject of this study through the survey of the recognition of Oral health education, a questionnaire survey and dental experience and Pit and fissure sealant status was conducted for 334 male and female students who were in the 4th, 5th, 6th grade of elementary school in Ulsan city. The students who were in the 4th, 5th, 6th grade of elementary school Experience caries on permanent teeth is grad higher(p=0.000). Pit and fissure sealant of teeth number and teeth surface status by grad higher(pE0.016, p=0.000). 3. Oral health knowledge and behavior is significantly related to status(p=0.001), behavior and Daily tooth brushing frequency was significantly related to status(p=0.000). But experience caries on permanent teeth and Oral health knowledge and behavior beween wasn't significantly related to status.
The purpose of this paper is to observe the influence of internet addiction, interpersonal anxiety and self-control in messenger immersion. Questionnaires regarding internet addiction, interpersonal anxiety and self-control were administered to 600 6th grade elementary school students and 2nd grade middle school students in the province of Seoul, South Korea. A total of 592 questionnaires were collected. As statistical methods, Cronbach's, multiple linear regression analysis and stepwise regression with SPSS 10.0 were used. The main results of the study were as follows - 1) In observing the degree of messenger Immersion by the sex and grade of the adolescent, the results show that the percentage in the top group and the middle group appears higher for school boys than school girls as well as 6th grade school-children rather than for 2nd grade middle school students. 2) A difference was noted between the messenger immersion factor in school-boys' and that in school-girls'.
Students' concepts of scientific phenomena have become a point of focus in science education research. This study investigated into developmental process and mechanism of the students' respiration concept through a cross-age study. This study utilized the 1st, 3rd, 6th grade elementary students to find out changes in student's understanding of the concept of respiration. The 1st and 3rd grade level students were interviewed what the respiration mean and whether each of living things respires, etc. The 6th grade students were interviewed and tested. Respiration is a word that students come across often in everyday life. It was found that they were more likely to associate respiration with its more common concept of breathing or gas exchange as opposed to its more scientific definition as the process in which nutrients are oxidized to provide energy. This trend didn't improve as they advanced grade. This is an indication that the knowledge system of student is split into a generic knowledge system and scientific knowledge system. Understanding of concept increased and differentiated across grade levels but that understanding was limited. They overcome their tendency to base their understanding of respiration on their understanding of human phenomena and learn to integrate their understanding of biological phenomena through a one organ - one role type of logic. They also intuitively explain everything based on their own experience.

In this study, we analyzed what STEAM-related subject contents, except mathematical knowledge, are contained in 2009 revised elementary mathematics 6th grade textbooks and teacher's manuals. The STEAM-related subject contents in the textbooks and the teacher's manuals were examined by unit, by semester, and by strand of the content in the elementary school mathematics curriculum. The results are the following: First, in each unit and in each strand of mathematics, the most frequent STEAM-related subject content is storytelling, followed by the STEAM-related subject contents of technology and engineering, natural science, and social studies in order. On the other hand, the number of culture, physical education, music and fine arts contents is very small. Second, the number of STEAM-related subject contents in the textbook for the second semester(textbook 6-2) of the 6th grade year is 61 more than that in the textbook for the first semester(textbook 6-1). The number of non-storytelling STEAM-related subject contents in textbook 6-2 is 107, 2.7 times more than that in textbook 6-1. Third, the teacher's manual for textbook 6-1 is insufficient in complementing the textbook units which lack in STEAM-related subject contents, while the teacher's manual for textbook 6-2 is comparatively good in its complementing role. Therefore, it is recommended that we develop different STEAM materials for our 6th grade mathematics classes.
The purpose of this study is to analyze tasks for mathematical competencies in the 8th grade mathematics textbooks based on the 2015 revised mathematics curriculum. And our study is based on the distribution of competencies of tasks for mathematical competencies in the 8th grade mathematics textbooks The results of this study were as follows. First, there are distributed in order, in general, geometry unit, letter expression unit, function unit among 8th grade mathematics textbooks for mathematical competencies. Second, there are unbalanced distribution of mathematical competencies among in 8th grade 'mathematics' textbooks. Lastly, there are comprised of textbooks focused on specific elements among subelements of tasks for mathematical competencies in the textbooks.

In this study, the STEAM elements and convergence types which appeared in the creative and convergent activities in authorized elementary school science textbooks for 5th and 6th graders were analyzed. For this study, creative and convergence activities presented in 9 different science textbooks for 5th and 6th graders were selected and the STEAM elements and convergence types were analyzed by each publisher, grade-semester, and science field. The results of this study are as follows. First, there was a large variation by publisher in the total frequency of STEAM elements and the frequency of each element in creative and convergence activities. Second, the ratio of convergence type consisting of two elements was very high, and the higher the number of fused elements, the lower the ratio appeared in overall. Third, the art (A) element had the highest frequency in all grade-semesters, and the technology (T), engineering (E), mathematics (M) elements differed in the distribution of frequency by grade-semesters. Fourth, the engineering (E) element in the 'integration' field, and the art (A) element in the fields of 'movement and energy', 'material', 'earth and universe', and 'life' had the highest frequency.
This study was conducted to discuss educational implications by analyzing the types of mathematical thinking that appeared in challenge math in 5th and 6th grade math teacher's guidebooks. To this end, mathematical thinking types that can be evaluated and nurtured based on teaching and learning contents were organized, a framework for analyzing mathematical thinking was devised, and mathematical thinking appearing in Challenge Math in the 5th and 6th grade math teachers' guidebooks was analyzed. As a result of the analysis, first, 'challenge mathematics' in the 5th and 6th grades of elementary school in Korea consists of various problems that can guide various mathematical thinking at the stage of planning and implementation. However, it is feared that only the intended mathematical thinking will be expressed due to detailed auxiliary questions, and it is unclear whether it can cause mathematical thinking on its own. Second, it is difficult to induce various mathematical thinking at that stage because the questionnaire of the teacher's guidebooks understanding stage and the questionnaire of the reflection stage are presented very typically. Third, the teacher's guidebooks lacks an explicit explanation of mathematical thinking, and it will be necessary to supplement the explicit explanation of mathematical thinking in the future teacher's guidebooks.
