The catalytic activity of an inorganic-organic complex with a vanadium-substituted polyoxometalate 1, formulated as [Cu(2,2'-bipy)]$[Cu(2,2'-bipy)_2]_2[PMo_8V_6O_{42}]{\cdot}1.5H_2O$ was studied in the Biginelli reactions. The obtained results showed that, in the one-pot synthesis of dihydropyrimidinones, the turnover frequencies (TOF) for the [Cu(2,2'-bipy)]$[Cu(2,2'-bipy)_2]_2[PMo_8V_6O_{42}]{\cdot}1.5H_2O$ catalyst were higher than the $H_3PMo_{12}O_{40}$ catalyst.

The charge-transfer compound (OMTTF)AuCl$_4$ was prepared from the direct reaction of octamethylenethiafulvalene (OMTTF) with HAuCl$_4{\cdot}xH_2$O in THF. (OMTTF)$_2PtCl_4$, (OMTTF)_2IrCl_6{\cdot}2H_2$O, and (OMTTF)Os$Cl_5{\cdot}THF$ were also formed using $H_2PtCl_6{\cdot}xH_2O$, $H_2IrCl_6{\cdot}xH_2O$ and $H_2OsCl_6$, respectively. The prepared compounds were characterized by magnetic (EPR, magnetic susceptibility), spectroscopic (IR, UV-Vis), electrochemical (CV) methods, and the powdered electrical conductivity measurement. The powdered electrical conductivities at room temperature were ~$10^{-7}S{\cdot}cm^{-1}$. The experimental results show that $OMTTF^+$ monocation radicals exist in all of the prepared compounds. The redox potential of OMTTF supports that $OMTTF^+$ is relatively stable. The magnetic properties indicate that there are significant magnetic interactions between the localized odd electrons on the central metal (Ir and Os) ions and the odd electrons resided on $OMTTF^+$ cation radicals in both (OMTTF) $_2IrCl_6{\cdot}2H_2O$ and (OMTTF)$OsCl_5{\cdot}THF$.
The most advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) are based on reactivity of strong and non-selective oxidants such as hydroxyl radical (${\cdot}OH$). Decomposition of typical DNAPL chlorinated compounds (TCE, PCE) using various advanced oxidation processes ($UV/Fe^{3+}$-chelating agent/$H_2O_2$ process, $UV/H_2O_2$ process) was approached to develop appropriate methods treating chlorinated compound (TCE, PCE) for further field application. $UV/H_2O_2$ oxidation system was most efficient for degrading TCE and PCE at neutral pH and the system could remove 99.92% of TCE after 150 min reaction time at pH 6($[H_2O_2]$ = 147 mM, UVdose = 17.4 kwh/L) and degrade 99.99% of PCE within 120 min ($[H_2O_2]$ = 29.4 mM, UVdose = 52.2 kwh/L). Whereas, $UV/Fe^{3+}$-chelating agent/$H_2O_2$ system removed TCE and PCE ca. > 90% (UVdose = 34.8 kwh/L, $[Fe^{3+}]$ = 0.1 mM, [Oxalate] = 0.6 mM, $[H_2O_2]$ = 147 mM) and 98% after 6hrs (UVdose = 17.4 kwh/L, $[Fe^{3+}]$ = 0.1 mM, [Oxalate] = 0.6 mM, $[H_2O_2]$ = 29.4 mM), respectively. We improved the reproduction system with addition of UV light to modified Fenton reaction by increasing reduction rate of $Fe^{3+}$ to $Fe^{2+}$. We expect that the system save the treatment time and improve the removal efficiencies. Moreover, we expect the activity of low molecular organic compounds such as acetate or oxalate be effective for maintaining pH condition as neutral. This oxidation system could be an economical, environmental friendly, and practical treatment process since the organic compounds and iron minerals exist in nature soil conditions.

The electrical properties and stabiltiy of Pr$_{6}$O$_{11}$ -based ZnO varistors, which are composed of ZnO-Pr$_{6}$O$_{11}$-Cr$_{2}$O$_{3}$-Er$_{2}$O$_{3}$ based ceramics, were investigated in the Er$_{2}$O$_{3}$ content range of 0.5 to 2.0 mol%. As Er$_{2}$O$_{3}$content is increased up to approximaterly 1.0mol%, the nonlinearity was decreased. Increasing Er$_{2}$O$_{3}$ content further caused the nonlinearity to increase. The varistors with 2.0 mol% Er$_{2}$O$_{3}$ exhibited a high nonlinearity, in which the nonlinear exponent is 47.41 and the leakage current is 1.82 $\mu$A. Furthermore, they showed a very excellent stability, in which the variation rates of the varistor voltage, the nonlinear exponent, and leakage current are -0.52%, -4.09%, and 152.75%, respectively, under DC accelerated aging stress, such as (0.80 V$_{1mA}$9$0^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.85 V$_{1mA}$115$^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.90 V$_{1mA}$12$0^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.95 V$_{1mA}$1$25^{\circ}C$/12h)+(0.95 V$_{1mA}$1$25^{\circ}C$/12h).2h).TEX>/12h).2h).

Homogeneous catalytic oxidation of hydrazobenzene was investigated by employing pentadentate Schiff base complexes such as [Co(II)(Sal-DPT)(H$_2$O)] and [Co(II)(Sal-DET)(H$_2$O)] in oxygen-saturated methanol solvent. The oxidation product of hydrazobenzene(H$_2$AB) was trans-azobenzene(trans-AB). The rate constants of oxidation reaction measured by UV-visible spectrophotometry were observed as $6.06{\times}10^{-3}sec^{-1}$ for [Co(II)(Sal-DPT)(H$_2$O)] and $2.50{\times}10^{-3}sec^{-1}$ for [Co(II)(Sal-DET)(H$_2$O)]. The mechanism of oxidation reaction for H$_2$AB by homogeneous activated catalysts has been proposed as following. H$_2$AB + Co(II)(L)(H$_2$O) + O$_2$$\rightleftharpoons^K_{MeOH}Co(III)(L)O_2{\cdot}H_2AB + H_2O\longrightarrow^{k}Co(II)(L) + trans-AB + H_2O_2$ (L: Sal-DPT and Sal-DET)
The properties of the powder of ZrO2+3m/o Y2O3 system prepared by co-precipitation method at the pH values of 7, 9, 10 and 11 were investigated. ZrOCl2.8H2O and YCl3.6H2O were used as starting materials and NH4OH as a precipitation agent. Zirconium hydroxide near by Zr(OH)4 structure showed more excellent crystallinity and lower formation temperature of tetragonal ZrO2. In the range of this study, cubic ZrO2 was not formed and stability of tetragonal ZrO2 prepared in the conditiion of pH 7 was most excellent. Average particle sizes and specific surface areas of tetragonal ZrO2 powders, prepared as calcining amorphous zirconium hydroxides at $600^{\circ}C$ for 1h, were 0.6-0.8${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 45-70$m^2$/g, respectively.
The dipole moments for some coordination compounds with organic ligands have been calculated adopting the molecuar orbitals obtained from EHT calculation with modified technique. Adopting the molecular orbitals with the modified technique, the calculated dipole moments for all the coordination compounds with organic ligands give closer agreements with experimental values than those using the molecular orbitals obtained from EHT calculation. The calculated dipole moments suggest that $(C_2H_5)_2SO,\;(C_6H_5)_2SO,\;and\;(C_6H_5)_2SeO$ may have a trigonal planar structure and $(C_6H_5)_3AsO,\;and\;(C_6H_5)_3PBCl_3$ a square planar structure and $(C_2H_5)_2OZrCl_4$ may be distorted markedly. This work may also indicate that the modified technique is superior to the EHT calculation as far as the dipole moment calculation is concerned.
The C3H8 gas sensitivities of SnO2, Pd-SnO2, Pt-SnO2 gas sensor are looked over with the impregnation method of PdCl2, H2PtCl6 solution on SnO2. The Cl- ion due to incomplete decomposition of PdCl2 at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 30 min decrease the C3H8 gas sensitivity of SnO2, and the sensitivity is increased by the impreganation of H2PtCl6 solution on SnO2 because of its lower decomposition temperature compared with PdCl2. The C3H8 gas sensitivities of Pd-SnO2, Pt-SnO2 impregnated slightly after 1st sintering are larger than that of pure SnO2 sensor because very small amount of Cl- ion exist in sample due to smaller amount of impregnaiton.
Several combinations of ozone based advanced oxidation processes were tested for the treatment of red water (RW) containing recalcitrant chemical pollutants produced from 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT) manufacturing process. $O_3$, $UV/O_3$, $UV/O_3/H_2O_2$, $UV/O_3/H_2O_2/Fe^{2+}$ processes were tested for the treatment of RW. The order of organic and color removal efficiency was found to be : $O_3{\leq}UV/O_3$ < $UV/O_3/H_2O_2$ < $UV/O_3/H_2O_2/Fe^{2+}$. The optimum conditions for the removal of organic and color in the $UV/O_3/H_2O_2/Fe^{2+}$ process were 0.053 g/min of ozone flow rate, 10 mM of $H_2O_2$ concentration and 0.1 mM of $FeSO_4$ concentration. Organic and color removal efficiencies were 96 and 100 % respectively in the $UV/O_3/H_2O_2/Fe^{2+}$ process. tert-butyl alcohol (t-buOH) was used as the hydroxyl radical scavenger. Enhancement of hydroxyl radical production was achieved by the combination of ozone with several oxidants such as UV, $H_2O_2$, $Fe^{2+}$.
