Motivating by two promising technique of 5G, namely D2D and Edge computing, and the above mentioned problem of the current joint studies, We believe that more study is needed on the benefits of joining these two techniques in a single framework by more precisely taking into account the energy needed to computation, sending data, receiving data and as a result achieving more realistic energy efficiency in 5G cellular networks.
Communication technologies are evolving to meet the ever-increasing demand for fast transmission speeds and large capacity. However, the introduction of new mobile networks, such as 5G, should be accompanied by changes in corresponding frequency and modulation techniques to enable the commercialization of its services. Hence, investigating the human health effects of electromagnetic exposures used in these new communication systems is crucial. Since in vitro electromagnetic experiments can provide essential information on important mechanisms of exposure effects, this article presents in vitro exposure systems necessary for reliable experiments. Moreover, the fundamental requirements for system implementation and the features of various systems are discussed.

This paper presents a novel and efficient data transmission scheme based on mobile edge computing for the massive IoT environments which should support various type of services and devices. Based on an accurate and precise synchronization process, it maximizes data transmission throughput, and consistently maintains a flow's latency. To this end, the proposed efficient software defined data transmission scheme (ESD-DTS) configures and utilizes synchronization zones in accordance with the 4 usage cases, which are end node-to-end node (EN-EN), end node-to-cloud network (EN-CN), end node-to-Internet node (EN-IN), and edge node-to-core node (EdN-CN); and it transmit the data by the required service attributes, which are divided into 3 groups (low-end group, medium-end group, and high-end group). In addition, the ESD-DTS provides a specific data transmission method, which is operated by a buffer threshold value, for the low-end group, and it effectively accommodates massive IT devices. By doing this, the proposed scheme not only supports a high, medium, and low quality of service, but also is complied with various 5G usage scenarios. The essential difference between the previous and the proposed scheme is that the existing schemes are used to handle each packet only to provide high quality and bandwidth, whereas the proposed scheme introduces synchronization zones for various type of services to manage the efficiency of each service flow. Performance evaluations show that the proposed scheme outperforms the previous schemes in terms of throughput, control message overhead, and latency. Therefore, the proposed ESD-DTS is very suitable for upcoming 5G networks in a variety of massive IoT environments with supporting mobile edge computing (MEC).

Modern applications such as augmented reality, connected vehicles, video streaming and gaming have stringent requirements on latency, bandwidth and computation resources. The explosion in data generation by mobile devices has further exacerbated the situation. Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) is a recent addition to the edge computing paradigm that amalgamates the cloud computing capabilities with cellular communications. The concept of MEC is to relocate the cloud capabilities to the edge of the network for yielding ultra-low latency, high computation, high bandwidth, low burden on the core network, enhanced quality of experience (QoE), and efficient resource utilization. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive overview on different traits of MEC including its use cases, architecture, computation offloading, security, economic aspects, research challenges, and potential future directions.

As a new paradigm in non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), correlated superposition coding (CSC) has gained an attention in the literature of NOMA, in contrast to standard independent superposition coding (ISC). In the conventional 3-user CSC scheme, it has been reported that the average allocated power can be reduced, owing to an introduced correlation between transmitted signals. Thus, this paper proposes a 3-user cross CSC scheme with purely-imaginary correlation coefficients. First, we derive the achievable data rates of the proposed 3-user cross CSC scheme, for each of the three users. Then, simulations demonstrate that for the proposed 3-user cross CSC scheme, the achievable data rates of the first and second users increase greatly and slightly, respectively, whereas the achievable data rate of the third user decreases little, compared to those of the conventional 3-user CSC scheme. In addition, we also show that the sum rate of the three users of the proposed 3-user cross CSC scheme is much larger than that of the three users of the conventional 3-user CSC scheme. As a result, the proposed 3-user cross CSC scheme could be a solution to the problem of the reduction of the average allocated total power in the conventional 3-user CSC scheme toward the fifth-generation (5G) NOMA mobile networks.
