  • The objective of this study was to make comparison of the physical work capacities with different types and methods of tasks. To produce standard work loads, a bicycle ergometer and a treadmill were used for the purpose of two different types of tasks. Maximal oxygen uptake measurement tests are usually performen (1) continuously - with no rest between work load increments, or (2) discontinuously - with the subjects resting several minutes between work periods. Continuous test protocol with two different methods of work load increments, (1) ramp test- with 3 to 5 minutes of work period for each work load, and (2) incremental test - where exercise intensity was increased progressively in 2 minutes interval, were used. Predicted physicala work capacities (PWCs) were compared with the one by Kim(1990), and Lee(1995), and the NIOSH physiological criteria. For ergometer test, the PWC based on the ramp test was 89.65% of the one based on the incremental test. The PWC values were 2553.88 ml/min for the ramp test and 2848.82 ml/min for the incremental test. For treadmill test, the PWC based on the ramp test was 97.54% of the one based on the incremental test. The PWC values were 2786.89 ml/min for the ramp test and 2857.24 ml/min for the incremental test. The PWC obtained with a bicycle ergometer was 91.64% of the one obtained with a treadmill for the ramp test, and 99.71% for the incremental test.

  • $Li_2MnSiO_4$ was synthesized using the solid-state method under an Ar atmosphere at three different calcination temperatures (900, 950, and $1000^{\circ}C$). The optimization of the carbon coating was also carried out using various molar concentrations of adipic acid as the carbon source. The XRD pattern confirmed that the resulting $Li_2MnSiO_4$ particles exhibited an orthorhombic structure with a $Pmn2_1$ space group. Cyclic voltammetry was utilized to investigate the capacitive behavior of $Li_2MnSiO_4$ along with activated carbon (AC) in a hybrid supercapacitor with a two-electrode cell configuration. The $Li_2MnSiO_4$/AC cell exhibited a high discharge capacitance and energy density of $43.2Fg^{-1}$ and $54Whkg^{-1}$, respectively, at $1.0mAcm^{-2}$. The $Li_2MnSiO_4$/AC hybrid supercapacitor exhibited an excellent cycling stability over 1000 measured cycles with coulombic efficiency over > 99 %. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy was conducted to corroborate the results that were obtained and described.

  • Hybrid material(ceramic+metal) processes were developed for micro filter using ceramics coating at metal filter surface by thermal spray method, micro hole drilling at ceramic coated filter surface by femtosecond laser, and fiber laser direct welding of ceramic and metal (SUS304, SM45C) by capillary effect. Thermal spray process was used for ceramic powders and metal filters. The used ceramic powders were $Al_2O_3+40TiO_2$(Metco 131VF) powder of maximum particle size $5{\mu}m$ and ${Al_2O_3}99+$(Metco 54NS) power of maximum particle size 45m. Ceramic coated filters using thermal spray method had a great influence on powder material, particle size and coating thickness but had a fine performance as a micro filter. CW fiber laser was used to drill the top ceramic layer and melt the bottom metal layer for joining applications.

  • This study was done to examine knowledge and attitude towards sex and the needs for sex education of korea female students in college. Data for this study was collected through questionnaires filled-out by 464 female students from September 2002 to December 2002. The result of this study were as follows; The subjects' scores of sex knowledge was 19.60 on average devided into the lovest 1 to the highest 25. Reproductive physiology scored highest at 0.82 and the contraceptive method was the lowest at 0.54. The subjects showed a positive sex attitude as 48% were for the abortions before marriage, a they appeared the most negative as 4.3% were for extramarital coitus of women. The subjects who responded that sexual education is necessary were 423 (91.2%), and they wanted ‘the sexual mentality of men and women’ most, 419 (99.1%). Also, ‘contraceptive method’ of 404 (95.5%), ‘veneral disease.’, ‘sexual behavior’, ‘sexual physiology’, ‘reproductive physiology’, ‘sexual morals’ etc followed. Based on above results of the study, it is more essential to organize the sex education programs centering around ‘contraceptive method’, ‘veneral disease.’, ‘sexual behavior’ etc which are not too difficult but more needed than ‘reproductive physiology’. It is required to develope sex education programs through research between specialists in various fields rather than through specialists in one field. It is considered that sex education programs can lead female students to forming and maintaining a correct sexual identity.

  • MXenes are a new family of 2D transition metal carbide nanosheets analogous to graphene (Lv et al., 2017; Sun et al., 2018). Due to the easy availability, hydrophilic behavior, and tunable chemistry of MXenes, their use in applications for environmental pollution remediation such as heavy metal adsorption has recently been explored (Li et al., 2017). In this study, three-dimensional (3D) MXene ($Ti_3C_2T_x$) films with high adsorption capacity, good mechanical strength, and high selectivity for specific radionuclide from aquose solution were successfully fabricated by a polymeric precursor method using vacuum-assisted filtration. The highest removal efficiency on the films was 99.54%, 95.61%, and 82.79% for $Sr^{2+}$, $Co^{2+}$, and $Cs^+$, respectively, using a film dosage of 0.06 g/ L in the initial radionuclide solution (each radionuclide concentration = 1 mg/L and pH = 7.0). Especially, the adsorption process reached an equilibrium within 30 min. The expanded interlayer spacing of $Ti_3C_2T_x$ sheets in MXene films showed excellent radionuclide selectivity ($Cs^+$ and/or $Sr^{2+}/Co^{2+}$) (Simon, 2017). Besides, the MXene films was not only able to be easily retrieved from an aqueous solution by filtration after decontamination processes, but also to selectively separate desired target radionuclides in the solutions. Therefore, the newly developed MXene ($Ti_3C_2T_x$) films has a great potential for radionuclide removal from aqueous solution.

  • The principal objective of this study was to determine the optimal mixing condition of two different amounts of cabbage and rice flour for the preparation of a cabbage cream soup. The experimental design was based on the central composite design methodology of response surface, which included 10 experimental points, including two replicates for the cabbage and rice flour. Physiochemical and sensory properties were measured, and these values were applied to the mathematical models. A canonical form and perturbation plot showed the influence of each ingredient on the mixed final product. Water content and pH values increased with increasing quantities of rice flour. Neither cabbage or rice flour affected the L and a values, but the b value increased with greater quantity of both ingredients. Viscosity increased with increasing added cabbage. Sensory evaluation results were significant in the predicted model for flavor (p<0.05), concentration (p<0.01) and overall quality (p<0.01). As a result, the optimum formulations by numerical and graphical methods were calculated as 111.79 g cabbage and 8.99 g rice flour.

  • Collision avoidance system is important to improve the robustness and functional safety of autonomous vehicles. This paper proposes an object-level distance estimation method to develop a collision avoidance system, and it is applied to golfcarts utilized in country club environments. To improve the detection accuracy, we continually trained an object detection model based on pseudo labels generated by a pre-trained detector. Moreover, we propose object-aware depth estimation (OADE) method which trains a depth model focusing on object regions. In the OADE algorithm, we generated dense depth information for object regions by utilizing detection results and sparse LiDAR points, and it is referred to as object-aware LiDAR projection (OALP). By using the OALP maps, a depth estimation model was trained by backpropagating more gradients of the loss on object regions. Experiments were conducted on our custom dataset, which was collected for the travel distance of 22 km on 54 holes in three country clubs under various weather conditions. The precision and recall rate were respectively improved from 70.5% and 49.1% to 95.3% and 92.1% after the continual learning with pseudo labels. Moreover, the OADE algorithm reduces the absolute relative error from 4.76% to 4.27% for estimating distances to obstacles.

  • Shored Mechanically Stabilized Earth (SMSE) walls are types of soil retaining structures that increase soil stability under static and dynamic loads. The damage caused by an earthquake can be determined by evaluating the probabilistic seismic response of SMSE walls. This study aimed to assess the seismic performance of SMSE walls and provide fragility curves for evaluating failure levels. The generated fragility curves can help to improve the seismic performance of these walls through assessing and controlling variables like backfill surface settlement, lateral deformation of facing, and permanent relocation of the wall. A parametric study was performed based on a non-linear elastoplastic constitutive model known as the hardening soil model with small-strain stiffness, HSsmall. The analyses were conducted using PLAXIS 2D, a Finite Element Method (FEM) program, under plane-strain conditions to study the effect of the number of geogrid layers and the axial stiffness of geogrids on the performance of SMSE walls. In this study, three areas of damage (minor, moderate, and severe) were observed and, in all cases, the wall has not completely entered the stage of destruction. For the base model (Model A), at the highest ground acceleration coefficient (1 g), in the moderate damage state, the fragility probability was 76%. These values were 62%, and 54%, respectively, by increasing the number of geogrids (Model B) and increasing the geogrid stiffness (Model C). Meanwhile, the fragility values were 99%, 98%, and 97%, respectively in the case of minor damage. Notably, the probability of complete destruction was zero percent in all models.

  • The effect of citric acid on rice starch gelatinization and low-temperature (4 ℃) storage was studied in order to produce rice cake with a lower retrogradation rate. A citric acid solution in the ratio of 0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5% (w/w) of the water used during production was utilized. The gelatinization properties, gel strength, thermal properties, and texture analysis were evaluated to determine the retrogradation rate. The result showed that acid hydrolysis occurred in samples treated with citric acid. Thus, increasing citric acid decreased gelatinization temperature (58.63±1.98 to 45.84±1.24 ℃). The moduli of elasticity increased with increasing citric acid concentration, indicating an increased gel strength. Thermal analysis of starch showed that the onset, peak, and conclusion temperatures of retrogradation were increased significantly with the storage period and decreased with citric acid concentration. After 72 h of low-temperature storage (4 ℃), the retrogradation rate was lowest in the rice cake with 1.5% citric acid solution, with an increased ratio of 12.01 to 13.60% compared to the control sample, with a ratio of 12.99 to 43.54%. This shows a high retrogradation rate in the control sample. Additionally, sensory properties and retrogradation ratio suggest that the addition of 1.0% citric acid solution during rice cake production is efficient in retarding the retrogradation without an adverse effect on the rice cake modeling and acceptance.
