The glass-ceramic of the $Li_{2}O-Al_{2}O_{3}-SiO_{2}$ system was investigated to develop the low thermal expansion materials. The glass of this system was heat treated at $775^{\circ}C$ for 2 h for nucleation and subsequently at $825{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ for 2 h for crystallization. The crystal structure of the glass-ceramic of this system was a single phase of $\beta$-quartz solid solution($Li_{x}Al_{x}Si_{1-x}O_{2}$). The thermal expansion of the glass-ceramic showed $4.40{\times}10^{-7}{\sim}1.33{\times}10^{-6}K^{-1}$ between $25{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ and $1.56{\times}10^{-6}{\sim}2.53{\times}10^{-6}K^{-1}$ between $25{\sim}800^{\circ}C$, higher than lower temperature range. The mechanical strength remained almost same at around high 110 MPa with heating temperature changes.
Lindera erythrocarpa is a less utilized species in Korea although that it has straight stem and it grows up to 40 cm in diameter. A proper kiln-dry schedule is required in advance to utilize an unknown species. Terazwa's quick oven-dry method was used to find it and which was confirmed by drying 25 mm thick boards in a kiln. The average green moisture content and the average green specific gravity of Lindera erythrocarpa are 72.3% and 0.53, respectively. Prospective kiln-drying conditions obtained by Terazwa's quick oven-dry method are a initial dry-bulb temperature of $50^{\circ}C$, a initial wet-bulb depression of $4^{\circ}C$ and a final dry-bulb temperature of $75^{\circ}C$, which are in a good agreement with USDA FPL kiln-dry schedule of T5-D4. 25 mm thick boards dried in a kiln with T5-D4 kiln-dry schedule did not have any severe drying defects such as honycombing and warping. A severer kiln-dry schedule of T8-C5 was developed and applied to another kiln-drying run to confirm it.
To determine the dental arch length and width in Korean yaung adults, various points (shown on Fig 1) were measured by means of Boley gauge on the 124 plaster models which obtained from 2 young men. The measurements value were as follows: A : 36.10㎜ a : 25.53㎜ B : 33.35㎜ b : 28.20㎜ C : 39.80㎜ c : 33.07㎜ D : 43.36㎜ d : 36.36㎜ E : 44.80㎜ e : 39.12㎜ F : 49.11㎜ f : 42.48㎜ G : 59.98㎜ g : 44.92㎜ H : 62.22㎜ h : 57.85㎜ I : 52.66㎜ i : 49.91㎜

In this paper, the effects of aggregate and curing temperature on strength development characteristics of UP (Unsaturated Polyester)-MMA (Methyl Methacrylate) based polymer mortar under sub-zero temperature are experimentally investigated to provide a criterion for repair and production of precast products. The result showed that the setting time of the binder was 4 minutes at $20^{\circ}C$ whereas 35 minutes at $-20^{\circ}C$. The result also revealed that the compressive, flexural, and splitting tensile strengths of UP-MMA based polymer mortar significantly decreased as the aggregate and curing temperatures decreased. However, sufficient strengths which can be implemented in actual practices -36.6 MPa of compressive strength, 6.11 MPa of flexural strength, and 5.81 MPa of splitting tensile strength - were obtained even though both aggregate and curing temperatures were $-20^{\circ}C$. Strength development of polymer mortar is largely affected by curing temperature rather than aggregate temperature. It was found that the effects of aggregate temperature on strength development become smaller as the curing temperature becomes lower. Also, toughness, a ratio of compressive strength to flexural strength, increased from 3.5 to 5.9 as both aggregate and curing temperatures decreased from $20^{\circ}C$ to $-20^{\circ}C$.

The composites were fabricated 61 vol.%α-α-SiC and 39vol.% WC powders with the liquid forming additives of 12wt% Al₂O₃+Y₂O₃ by pressureless annealing at 1700, 1800, 1900℃ for 4 hours. The result of phase analysis of composites by XRD revealed α-SiC(2H), WC, and YAG($Al_5Y_3O_{12}$) crystal phase. The relative density, the flexural strength, fracture toughness and Young′s modulus showed respectively the highest value of 99.4%, 375.76㎫, 5.79㎫ㆍ$m^{\frac{1}{2}}$, and 106.43㎬ for composite by pressureless annealing temperature 1900℃ at room temperature. The electrical resistivity showed the lowest value of 1.47×$10^{-3}$/Ω·㎝ for composite by pressureless annealing temperature 1900℃ at 25℃. The electrical resistivity of the α-SiC-WC composites was all positive temperature cofficient resistance (PTCR) in the temperature ranges from 25℃ to 500℃.
The gibberellins (GAs) play important roles in plant growth and development. Twenty three fungi were isolated from the roots of Lindera obtusiloba and Vaccinium koreanum. The numbers of GA-producing fungi were six strains from Lindera obtusiloba and four strains from Vaccinium koreanum. The fungi with GAs-producing activity were incubated for seven days in 40 ml of Czapek's liquid medium at $25^{\circ}C$, 120 rpm, and the amount of each GA in the medium was measured by gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) to determine the productivity of GAs. Penicillium griseofulvum KNU5379 produced more GA in case of $GA_{3}$ than Neurospora crassa known as a GAs-producing fungus. P. griseofulvum KNU5379 was shown to produce $GA_1\;9.79\;ng,\;GA_3\;133.58\;ng,\;GA_4\;2.64\;ng,\;GA_7\;7.80\;ng\;and\;GA_{53}\;0.73\;ng$ in 25 ml of liquid medium. Bioassay using culture fluid of GAs-production fungi was performed on rice sprout.

The experiments were undertaken to investigate the dynamics of $NO_3\;^-$ uptake at low temperature with forage rape(Bmssica napus), barle(Hordeum vulgare) and winter rye (Scale cereale). A net $NO_3\;^-$uptake and the contents of nitrogenous compound in tissues at low temperature ($5^{\circ}C$) were compared with normal temperature ($25^{\circ}C$).The net uptake of $NO_3\;^-$ by Brass ica nqus was the highest among three species at both temperature applied. During 9 hours after temperature treatment, $NO_3\;^-$ uptake of Brassica napus, Hordeum vulgm and Scale c e d e grown at $5^{\circ}C$ decreased to about 31, 50 and 27% compared with those grown at $25^{\circ}C$. $NO_3\;^-$ contents in roots were much sensitively affected by low temperature than those of leaves. Comparing with the plants grown at $25^{\circ}C$, $NO_3\;^-$ contents in roots of increased to 48.3, 38.7 and 53.5% repectively, for Brassica napus, Hordeum vulgare and Scale cereale during 9 days. A relatively less changes in the content of $NH_4\;^+$-N were observed according to the temperature treatment. The ontents of amino acids-N in leaves at $5^{\circ}C$ slightly decreased while that of roods remarkably increased compared with $25^{\circ}C$. Protein-N was the largest pool of nitrogen and its contents in leaves and roots showed a similar response on the temperature treatment. These results suggested that $NO_3\;^-$uptake was inhibited at low temperature. The dynamics of $NO_3\;^-$ uptake could be closely related to the increased concentration of $NO_3\;^-$ and amino acids in roots.
The following results were obtained from the experiment on the oyster spatfall, Crassostrea gigas by means of the rack method in YonghoBay, on the southern coast of Korea, from June to August in 1962 and 1963. 1. The Outside of shells as a collector showed better result than inside in numbers of attached oyster spats. 2. The horizontal type of the rack was more efficient for spatfall than the typical type of the rack. 3. The mode variance, in shell height, were shown as 21-25mm and 26-30mm, and the variance of range was 13.0-53.0mm for 77 days. 4. The optimum spat-fall season was from August 17 to 19 and 24 to 27, and spat of the oyster were attached in number of 7 per collector each day. 5. The optimum exposure time in spatfall was 4 hours. 6, The average water temperature and specific gravity, during the spawning season, was $25.98^{\circ}C$ and 0.1871, respectively.
To improve the storage stability of Korean red pepper (Capsicum annuum), the equilibrium moisture content of the powder and effects of irradiation on the capsaicin, capsanthin and microorganisms were investigated during its storage. The equilibrium moisture contents of the powder at $25^{\circ}C$ and relative humidities of 43.7, 53.3, 64.4, 75.4 and 84.3% were 13, 18, 25, 28 and 37%, respectively, and the larger the particle size was, the lower the equilibrium moisture content was under the same storage conditions. Cobalt-60 gamma irradiation degraded partly the capsaicin in red pepper or in solution at dose levels above 500 krad, but did not affect the moisture and capsanthin contents during its storage. Total viable cell count of the powder was around $10^8$ per gram and $D_{10}$ value for the mixed organisms was 210 krad.
