공구경로 및 자세의 선정과 이송률 제어를 통한 임펠러 표면조도 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Surface Roughness of Impeller by Selection of Tool Path and Posture and Control of Feedrate)

  • 5-axis NC machining has a good advantage of the accessibility of tool motion by adding two rotary axes. It offers numerous advantages such as expanding machining fields in parts of turbo machineries like impeller, propeller, turbine blade and rotor, reasonable tool employment and great reduction of the set-up process. However, as adding two rotary axes, it is difficult to choose suitable machining conditions in terms of tool path, tool posture, feedrate control at a tool tip and post-processing. Therefore in this paper, it is proposed to decide suitable machining condition through an experimental method such as adopting various tool paths, tool postures, and feedrate types. Machining experiment on AL7075 for impeller is performed to define suitable machining condition, and measurement of surface roughness on machined surfaces depended on each machining condition is performed. By defining suitable machining condition, we should have conclusion as improving the surface quality in the aspect of surface roughness and machined shape of surface.

  • 5-axis laser cutting has great advantages when it is applied to three dimensional machining requiring high cutting quality. For developing 5-axis CNC laser cutting systems, however, many problems such as rotating a laser head or a working table, 5-axis servo-control mechanism, tool path generation and post-processing, and collision avoidance between a laser head and a work-piece should be solved. In this paper, we deal with developing a motion simulator for 5-axis laser cutting machine with a nutating cutting head whose rotational axis is in an inclined plane. Two essential modules such as post-processor and cutting motion simulator was developed based on a commercial 3D CAD of UG-NX. The developed system was applied to three dimensional cutting products and showed the validity of the developed methods.

  • The ultra precision machining in industrial field are increased day by day. The diamond turning has been used generally, but now is faced with limitation of use, because of higher requirement of production field. The electron beam lithography is alternative in machining area as semiconductor production. For EB lithography, 5 axis vacuum stage is required to duplicate small and large patterns on wafer. The stage is composed of 2 rotational axis and 3 translational axis with 5 DC servo motors. The positioning repeatability and resolution of Z axis feed unit are 3.21$\mu$m and 0.5 $\mu$m/step enough to apply to lithography.

For developing 5-axis CNC laser cutting systems, however, many problems such as rotating a laser head or a working table, 5-axis servo-control mechanism, tool path generation and post processing, and collision avoidance between a laser head and a work-piece should be solved. In this paper, we deal with developing a dedicated CAM system based on UG-NX3 for 5-axis laser cutting machine. Two essential modules such as post-processor and cutting motion simulation was developed. The developed system was applied to cutting curve defined on 3-D workpiece in order to show the validity of the proposed methods.

NC가공에서 허용오차를 고려한 가공속도 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study of Feedrate Optimization for Tolerance Error of NC Machining)

  • In numerical control (NC) machining, a machining error in equipment generally occurs for a variety of reasons. If there is a change in direction in the NC code, the characteristics of the automatic acceleration or deceleration function cause an overlap of each axis of the acceleration and deceleration zones, which in turn causes a shift in the actual processing path. Many studies have been conducted for error calibration of the edge as caused by automatic acceleration or deceleration in NC machining. This paper describes a geometric interpretation of the shape and processing characteristics of the operating NC device. The paper then describes a way to determine a feedrate that achieves the desired tolerance by using linear and parabolic profiles. Experiments were conducted by the validate equations using a three-axis NC machine. The results show that the machining errors were smaller than the machine resolution. The results also clearly demonstrate that the NC machine with the developed system can successfully predict machining errors induced with a change in direction.

기하학적인 방법을 이용한 3 Rotary 형식 5축 가공기의 후처리 방법 (A Post-processing Method for 3 Rotary Type 5-axis Machines using Geometric Method)

  • This paper presents a post-processing algorithm for 5-axis machines with three rotary axes (3R-2L type). 5-axis machining needs the postprocessor for converting cutter location (CL) data to machine control (NC) data. The existing methods for post-processing use inverse kinematics equations from for-ward kinematics. However in case of 5-axis machines with three rotary axes, the inverse kinematics equations are not induced directly since the forward kinematics equations are non-linear. In order to get the joint values from the forward kinematics equations, previous algorithms use numerical method for the post-processing, which needs searching algorithms with computation time and may result in fail. This paper proposes a geometric method for the post-processing of 3 rotary type 5-axis machines. Our algorithm has three advantages: first, it does not need establishing forward kinematics equations. Second, it is reliable method that eliminates any numerical methods for the inverse kinematics, resulting in the exact solution. Finally, the proposed algorithm can also be applied to 2R-3L type of 5-axis machines.

  • This paper presents the real time control method of 5-axis NC machine for high precision and productivity based on the curvature theory, of a ruled surface. The trajectory, of NC machine is described by, way of a ruled surface generated by the points on part surface and tool axis direction vector. The curvature theory, of a ruled surface is then applied to deter-mine the motion parameters of the 5-axis machine for control. The controller computes position, orientation, and differential motion parameters of the tool in each sampling period. The real-time approach produces smoother surfaces and requires substantially less machining time compared to conventional off-line approaches. The propose real-time control method based of the curvature theory of a ruled surface may give new methodology of precision 5-axis machine control.
