과제 난이도에 따른 4세와 7세 아동의 자부심과 수치심 표현 (Differences in 4- and 7-year-old Children's Expression of Pride and Shame by Task Difficulty)

  • This study investigated age differences in children's expression of pride and shame by their age, and type and level of task difficulty when they succeeded of failed on tasks. The subjects were 55 4-year-old children from 2 day-care centers and 37 7-year-old children from I elementary school. Each child participated in pride and shame assessment sessions. Data were analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA, t-test, paired t-test, Pearson's correlations. When they succeeded on tasks, 4-year-olds showed more pride than 7-year-olds. More pride was shown when subjects succeeded on difficult than on easy tasks. An interaction effect for pride was found between age, and type and level of task difficulty. Seven-year-olds showed more shame than 4-year-olds when they failed on tasks. More shame was shown when subjects failed on easy than on difficult tasks. The expression of pride was positively related to the expression of shame.

  • This study investigated differences in children's facial, behavioral, and verbal expressions of pride and shame by their age, and type and level of task difficulty when they succeeded or failed on tasks. Interaction effect for behavioral expression of pride was found between age and type of task difficulty. In verbal expression of pride, interaction effect was found between age, and type and level of task difficulty. When they failed on tasks, 7-year-olds showed more shame in behavioral and verbal expressions than 4-year-olds. More shame in facial, behavioral, and verbal expressions were shown when subjects failed on easy than on difficulty tasks. Interaction effect for facial expression of shame was found between age, and type and level of task difficulty.

  • The purpose of this study were to describe the performance 67 kindergartener who aged from 4 to 7 years on the Pediatric Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction for Balance(P-CTSIB) and to determine difference with foot position and age. All Subjects were performance with different foot position that were feet-together, heel-toes. the starting position was that subject placed their hands on the hips, The results of this study were as follows 1. There were significiant difference in all instances by age whoa subjects were foot together(p<0.05). 2. There were singificiant difference in all instances by age excepts condition V awhen subjects were heel toes(p<0.05). 3. Duration of balance performance, of 4-year-olds were shortest and duration of balance performance of 7-year-olds were longest.

유아의 환경인쇄물 읽기 능력과 음운론적 인식 능력 간의 관계 (The Relationship Between Children's Reading Ability of Environmental Print and Phonological Awareness)

  • 본 연구는 글자를 읽지 못하는 만 3~4세 유아를 대상으로 연령에 따른 환경인쇄물 읽기 능력 및 음운론적 인식 능력의 차이와 유아의 환경인쇄물 읽기 능력과 음운론적 인식 능력 간의 관계에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기, 대전에 소재한 어린이집 7곳에 다니고 있는 글자를 읽지 못하는 만 3~4세 유아 90명을 연구 대상으로 선정하였다. 본 연구에는 손승희(2012)가 개발한 환경인쇄물 읽기 능력 검사와 최나야(2007)의 음운론적 인식 검사를 사용하였으며, 자료 분석은 기술통계, 독립표본 t 검증, Pearson의 적률상관분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 만 4세 유아가 만 3세 유아보다 환경인쇄물을 더 잘 읽었고 음절수세기, 음절삭제, 음소대치 능력도 높게 나타났다. 또한, 만 3세 유아의 경우 환경인쇄물을 잘 읽을수록 음절수세기 점수가 높았으며, 만 4세 유아의 경우 환경 인쇄물을 잘 읽을수록 음절수세기, 음절삭제, 음소대치 능력이 더 높게 나타났다.

아동의 인지양식과 대인 문제 해결력 - 5세, 7세, 및 9세 아동을 대상으로 - (Cognitive Style and Interpersonal Problem Solving Ability among 5-, 7-, and 9-year-olds)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate (1) children's field dependence by age and sex, (2) children's interpersonal problem solving ability by age, sex, and contextual factors, (3) children's interpersonal problem solving ability by field dependence. The subjects were 120 five-, seven-, and nine-year-olds. Children's field-dependence was measured with the Children's Embedded Figures Test (CEFT). Children's interpersonal problem solving ability was measured with the Preschool Interpersonal Problem Solving Test (PIPS Test). Statistical methods adopted for data analysis were frequencies, percentiles, means, standard deviation, t-test, oneway ANOVA. $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test and Pearson's correlations. Major findings were that (1) The older children were more field-independent than the younger ones (2) The older children suggested more problem solving methods and higher-level problem solving strategies than the younger ones. (3) Children suggested higher-level problem solving strategies in contexts involving familiar as opposed to unfamiliar participants and contexts involving children as opposed to adults. (4) 9-year-olds' field-independence was positively associated with interpersonal problem solving ability.

아동의 지능, 보존개념의 발달과 영어학습과의 관계분석 (Children's Intelligence, Concept of Conservation, and the Relations With Learning English)

  • This study investigated the relations of children's age, intelligence, and the concept of conservation to their learning of English. Ten 4-year-old children from 1 child-care center and 13 7-year-old children from 1 elementary school were tested after completion of 8 sessions of experimental English classes. Children's intelligence was measured by K-WPPSI for 4-year olds and K-WISC for 7-year-olds. Children were tested for number and liquid conservations. A Korean teacher with 11 years of experience of teaching children at American elementary schools taught the 2 groups with the same subjects and methods. Data were analysed by independent samples t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Pearson's r. The results showed that children's age and the concept of conservation were related to English learning. No statistically significant relationship with IQ was found.

부모의 양육행동 및 또래관계가 아동의 자아개념 발달에 미치는 영향에 관한 종단적 연구 (The Influence of Parenting and Peer Relationship on the Development of Child's Self-Concept : A Longitudinal Study)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the developmental patterns of self-concept of pre-adolescents and adolescents by using the longitudinal data originated by the Korean Institute for Research in the Behavioral Sciences (KIRBS). Specifically, using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the effects of parents and peer groups on the stability and change of self-concept were examined across a 9-year-period. The subjects were 62 children(29 boys and 33 girls) from the KIRBS longitudinal data. The results showed that, peer relationships revealed consistent effects on children's self-concept from pre-adolescence to mid-adolescence. In particular, this influence was most evident at 7 years of age and at 16 years of age. However, parental influence was almost non-existent for 7-year-olds, equivalent to peer relationships for 10-year-olds, and decreased for 16-year-olds. On the whole, parental and peer influence on self-concept gradually decrease in adolescence. Nevertheless, parental and peer influence continue to maintain a certain level of influence from childhood to adolescence. This study provides an understanding of developmental change and stability in the self-concept of Korean adolescents.

Pandemic Novel Influenza A (H1N1) Virus in Korea: The Experience from August to September 2009

  • Novel influenza A virus, subtype H1N1 of swine-lineage, has been transmitted rapidly to many regions of the world. Rapid detection of the virus is essential to instigate appropriate patient care and public health management and for disease surveillance. The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of novel influenza A (H1N1) virus in Korea using reverse-transcription real time polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR). Novel H1N1 virus was detected in a total of 8,948 nasopharyngeal samples from patients with influenza-like illness throughout Korea from August to September 2009. RNA was extracted from $300{\mu}l$of sample using an RNA extraction kit (Zymo Research, CA, USA). In the present study, Genekam kit (Genekam, Duisburg, Germany) was used to detect novel H1N1 virus. Novel H1N1 virus was found in 1,130 samples from a total of 8,948 samples (12.6%). The highest frequency was found in 10- to 19-year-olds (M: 29.3% vs. F: 16.4%), followed by 20- to 29-year-olds (M: 17.9% vs. F: 15.4%), 40- to 49-year-olds (M: 6.5% vs. F: 8.1%), 50- to 59-year-olds (M: 6.0% vs. F: 5.5%), and 30- to 39-year-olds (M: 4.6% vs. F: 3.8%). The mean positive rate was higher in men than in women (M: 14.7% vs. F: 7.4%). Novel H1N1 virus showed the lowest prevalence in patients over 60 years old. The positive rate increased daily and showed a significant high peak in mid-September 2009. In 19 provinces of Korea, Cheonan (41.1%), Busan (37.3%), Gangneung (33.3%), Jinju (32.1%), Ulsan (24.6%), Deajeon (23.7%) areas showed high frequencies and other provinces were found less than 10% of novel H1N1 virus. Since reverse-transcription real time PCR assay is rapid, accurate, and convenient, it may assist public health laboratories in detecting novel H1N1 virus. Moreover, these data could be useful for the management of patients with influenza-like illness.

  • 과거에 비해 소아 및 청소년기에 교정치료를 시작하는 경우가 증가하고 있으며 따라서 소아치과에서 교정치료가 차지하는 비율 역시 증가하는 추세이다. 이러한 변화에 맞추어 소아치과에 내원하는 교정환자의 분포 양상을 파악하기 위하여 본 연구를 시행하였다. 2006년 1월부터 2008년 12월까지 서울대학교 치과병원 소아치과를 내원한 환자 중 교정 진단 받은 792명을 대상으로 조사를 진행하였으며 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 교정 진단을 받은 환자의 연령 분포는 8세가 22%로 가장 많았고 7세(19%), 9세(16%) 순서로 나타났다. 2. 골격 분포는 골격성 1급 부정교합이 52%로 가장 많았고 3급(29%), 2급(19%)순서로 나타났으며 연령이 낮은 경우 3급 부정교합 환자의 비율이 높은 경향을 보였다. 3. 총 792명의 환자 중 28%인 218명에서 전치부 반대교합을 보였으며 연령이 낮은 경우 그 비율이 높은 경향을 보였다.

아산시 거주 미취학 아동들의 신체계측 및 영양상태 조사 (Survey on Nutritional Status of Pre-school Children in Asan Measured by Anthropometric and Nutrient Intake Analysis)

  • The nutritional status of pre-school children is important for both physical growth and functional development. This study investigated the anthropometric, nutrient intakes and dietary quality of the pre-school children living in Asan for planning nutritional education program. The dietary intakes were measured by 2-day 24 hr recall recorded by children's mothers and the anthropometric data were collected by measuring children's weights, heights, and percent body fat at Asan Public Health Center. The children were 161 boys and 129 girls aged 5 and 6 years. When children's nutritional status was determined by their anthropometric status (underweight, normal weight and overweight) determined by z-score (normal range between -1.00 and 1.00), only 1.4% of the children belonged to underweight group while 55.7% and 42.9% belonged to normal and overweight groups, respectively. Significantly higher number of children belonged to overweight group for 5 year-olds. No differences were observed in nutrient intakes, nutrient adequacy ratio (NAR) and index of nutritional quality (INQ) values among nutritional status groups. Intakes of the most nutrients were adequate, but NAR and INQ of calcium and zinc were low. When nutrient intakes, NAR and INQ were compared by sex or age, all nutrient intakes were appropriate except calcium and zinc intakes of 6 year-olds. Nutrient intakes of 5 years were higher than those of 6 years. The mean of nutrient adequacy ratio (MAR) was 0.85 and mean INQ was 1.51 for all participants. The nutritional management program for pre-school children in Asan would be directed differently by age groups and education material should contain contents educating to consume moderate amount of food for 5 year-olds and to increase intake of foods with mineral nutrients such as calcium and zinc for 6 year-olds.
