  • Based on reviewing the literature and statistical year books on current projects that are targeting Industry 4.0 and Smart Factory, this paper aims to show concepts of Industry 4.0, and Smart Factory. Also it shows 5 projects for Industry 4.0 led by governments that worry over their low employment and productivity in main industrialized countries: Germany, China, Japan, the USA, and Korea. In addition it presents some problems which are very important but easy to be overlooked, especially on employment, and it makes three suggestions to solve employment problems. First, government should tax the profit which a company makes on reducing workers in spite of a high rate of profit through technology innovation. Second, to help small businesses to last longer, government should link major companies and small companies. Third, government, academic circles and the industrial world should take part in configuring consortia like American "Industry talent Consortium" to cultivate IT Talent.

  • Purpose: Quality management has significantly contributed to the productivity revolution in the past century. However, the argument that quality can be an impediment to innovation in the age of industry 4.0 has intensified recently. Possible solutions to this controversial issue are discussed. Methods: The research papers and magazine articles which described quality as an impediment to innovation are reviewed, and the industries in which this particular problem arises are examined. Results: Conventional quality management is as effective as ever when technology changes quite slowly. However, strong 'quality first' culture serves as an impediment to innovation when technology changes quickly as in the ICT(information and communication technology) industry and platform business. Conclusion: When the technology changes rapidly, faster time-to-market is much more important than variation control and continuous improvement. Moving from a productivity focus to a creativity focus is also required in quality management.

  • Purpose - The main purpose of the paper is to examine the variables affecting carbon emissions in different nations around the world. Research design, data, and methodology - To measure its impact on carbon emissions, secondary data has data of the top 50 Countries have been taken. The stochastic Impacts by Regression on Population, Affluence, and Technology (STIRPAT) model have been used to quantify the factors that affect carbon emissions. A modified version using Industry 4.0 and region in fundamental STIRPAT model has been applied with the ordinary least square approach. The outcome has been measured using both the basic and extended STIRPAT models. Result - Technology found a positive determinant as well as statistically significant at the alpha level of 0.001models indicating that technological innovation helps reduce carbon emissions. In total, 4 models have been derived to test the best fit and find the highest explaining capacity of variance. Model 3 is found best fit in explanatory power with the highest adjusted R2 (97.95%). Conclusion - It can be concluded that the selected explanatory variables population and Industry 4.0 are found important indicators and causal factors for carbon emission and found constant with all four models for total CO2 and Co2 per capita.

  • A novel sulfonate flame retardant, 1,3,5,7-tetrakis(phenyl-4-sodium sulfonate)adamantane (FR-A), was successfully synthesized from 1-bromoadamantane in sequential four-step reactions involving Fiedel-Crafts phenylation, sulphonation, hydrolysis, and neutralization. The success of synthesis was confirmed by FTIR spectra, $^1H$ NMR spectra, elemental analyses and mass spectra. The effect of FR-A on the flame retardacy of polycarbonate (PC) has been studied. Limiting oxygen index (LOI) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) showed that this novel sulfonate flame retardant had effective flame retardancy on polycarbonate (PC). With a small amount (0.08 wt%) of FR-A, the flame retardancy of PC was improved obviously, which got to UL 94 V-0 rating. TGA and DTA curves demonstrated that the additive raised the degradation rate of PC by promoting the quick formation of an insulating carbon layer on the surface, and confirmed that the flame retardant mechanism of PC/FR-A system was similar to potassium diphenylsulfone sulfonate (KSS).

  • The digital industry area based on digital technology is specialized and rapidly changing. This kind of change lead to a gap of understanding arises between the digital industry and the public. The digital industry is a trend that cannot be reversed, thus efforts to reduce the gap in understanding are necessary for positive social development in the future. This study aimed to find clues to reduce the gap in understanding by measuring the difference in perception between the public and the digital industry. To measure the difference in perception, this study applied the mutual orientation model proposed by McLeod and Chaffee(1973), As a result of the study, both groups agreed that the digital industry would make a positive contribution to the Korean economy in the future. However, it was confirmed that there was a possibility of mutual misunderstanding due to different views on the digital industry.
