The Electrocatalytic Reduction of Oxygen by Bis-Cobalt Phenylporphyrins in Various pH Solutions (여러 가지 pH 수용액에서 Bis-Cobalt Phenylporphyrin 유도체들에 의한 산소의 전극 촉매적 환원)

  • The electrocatalytic reduction of oxygen is investigated by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry at glassy carbon electrode and carbon microelectrode coated with a variety of cobalt phenylprophyrins in various pH solutions. Oxygen reduction catalyzed by the monomeric porphyrin Co(Ⅱ)-TPP mainly occurs through the 2e$^-$ reduction pathway resulting in the formation of hydrogen peroxide whereas electrocatalytic process carried out 4e$^-$ reduction pathway of oxygen to H$_2$O at the electrodes coated with cofacial bis-cobalt phenylporphyrins in acidic solution. The electrocatalytic reduction of oxygen is irreversible and diffusion controlled. The reduction potentials of oxygen in various pH solutions have a straight line from pH 4 to pH 13, but level off in strong acidic solution. The reduction potentials of oxygen shift to positive potential more 400 mV at the electrode coated with monomer Co-TPP compound than bare glassy carbon electrode while 750 mV at the electrode coated with dimer Co-TPP compound.

A STUDY ON THE ROLL-ALONG TECHNIQUE USED IN 2D ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY SURVEYS (2차원 전기비저항 탐사에 사용되는 ROLL-ALONG 기법에 대한 고찰)

  • The validity and efficiency of the roll-along technique widely used in 2-D electrical resistivity survey are analyzed in case of the dipole-dipole and the Wenner-Schlumberger arrays by numerical modelling. The shallow anomalous resistivity bodies are successfully inverted both in the dipole-dipole and in the Wenner-Schlumberger arrays because the shallow data of pseudosection are not omitted by the roll-along technique. However, the deep anomalous resistivity bodies can not be well resolved due to the skip of observed data which is more significant in the Wenner-Schlumberger array having relatively poor horizontal coverage of obtaining data. Carrying out electrical survey adopting the dipole-dipole array, the skip of data is insignificant because it is unfeasible to expand the electrodes to the maximum electrode separation coefficient($n_max$) owing to low S/N ratio. In case of the Wenner-Schlumberger array, however, because it is generally feasible to expand the electrodes $n_max$ to the owing to high S/N ratio, it is highly possible that skip of data from the roll-along technique causes significant distortion of inversion results. Therefore, adopting the Wenner-Schlumberger array having deeper median depth(Edwards, 1977) than do the dipole-dipole array on condition of the same unit electrode spacing( ($a$) ) and $n_max$, it is recommended to determine $a$ based on not $n_max$but $n_prob$free from the skip of observing data and forward electrodes with keeping overlap interval 3/4 of the survey line length in order to reduce the distortion of resistivity structure and perform resistivity survey efficiently. These results are confirmed by numerical modelling.

The n value obtained at carbon microelectrode is slightly different from that determined at glassy carbon electrode. Dioxygen reduction catalyzed by the monormeric porphyrin Co(II)-TPP mainly occurs through the $2e^-$ reduction pathway resulting in the formation of hydrogen peroxide, electrocatalytic process carries out $4e^-$ reduction pathway of dioxygen to $H_2O$ at the electrodes coated with bis-cobalt phenylporphyrins. The electrocatalytic reduction of dioxygen is irreversible and diffusion controlled.

  • 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid(3,4-DHBA) was electropolymerized on glassy carbon electrode to give the GC/p-3,4-DHBA type electrode which was modified with dopamine by the help of 1-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-3-ethyl carbodiimide hydrochloride(EDC) acting as a coupling agent. The carboxylic sites on the polymeric surface of p-3,4-DHBA and mine group at the dopamine gave a QCA(Au)/p-3,4-DHBA-dopamine type of modified electrodes. The o-quinone moieties at the electrode surface exhibited high selectivity to titanium ions in solution. The redox process of the electrode is hydroquinone : quinone +$2H^+2e^-$, which had two strong and two weak pairs of peaks at CV. The modified electrode can deposit Ti(IV) ions as much as $4.13\times10^{-5}gcm^{-2}$. The calibration curve of the electrodes, log of the surface coverage-normalized redox response vs log[Ti], exhibited an excellent correlation$(r{\geq}0.997)$ for titanium concentrations ranging from $5.25\times10^{-4}\;to\;5.25\tiems10^{-8}M.$.

Electrical Conductance and Electrode Reaction of $RbAg_4I_5$ Single Crystals (고체전해질 $RbAg_4I_5$ 단결정의 전기전도성과 전극반응)

  • The electrical conductivity of solid electrolyte $RbAg_4I_5$ single crystal was studied at various temperatures. The four-probe method was used in measuring the conductance with an ac signal imposed on the specimen. The ionic conductivity was $0.284 ohm^{-1} cm^{-1}\;at\;25^{\circ}C$, and the activation energy for $Ag^+$ ion migration was calulated to be 1.70 kcal/mole. These values agree well with those reported for polycrystalline samples. Reactions at $Ag/RbAg_4I_5$ interface were studied by cyclic voltammetry with a silver reference electrode. It was found that silver ion is reversibly reduced at silver surfaces below zero volt, and iodide was oxidized above +0.67 volt.The anodic current arising from the oxidation of the electrode was small in magnitude initially over a wide range of potential, but, after silver was cathodically deposited on the electrode, reversing the potential sweep to the anodic direction resulted in a sharp peak of anodic current.

Sol-gel법 및 Direct Patterning을 통해 Moth-eye 구조가 패터닝된 AZO 박막의 제작

  • 현재 상용화된 LED 또는 태양전지 등의 투명전극(TCO, transparent couducting oxide)재료로 높은 전기전도도와 광투과도를 갖는 ITO (Indium Tin Oxide)가 많이 채택되고 있다. 그러나 이에 사용되는 Indium의 단가가 높다는 문제점이 있어 이를 대체하기 위한 물질의 연구가 많이 이루어지고 있다. 특히 Aluminum을 doping한 ZnO (AZO)는 우수한 전기적, 광학적 특성 등으로 인해 ITO를 대체할 차세대 TCO 물질로 각광받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 sol-gel법을 및 direct patterning법을 이용하여 moth-eye 패턴을 포함하는 AZO 박막을 제작하였다. AZO sol을 제작하기 위하여 2-methoxyethanol, zinc acetate dihydrate 및 doping source로 aluminum nitrate nonahydrate를 사용하였다. 또한 광추출 향상 효과를 갖는 moth-eye 구조의 master stamp를 Polydimethyl siloxane(PDMS)를 이용하여 역상 moth-eye 구조의 mold를 복제하였으며, 이 복제된 mold와 제작된 AZO sol을 이용한 direct patterning법을 통해 나노급 moth-eye 구조를 갖는 AZO 투명전극층을 형성하였다. 제작된 moth-eye 구조를 갖는 AZO 투명전극층의 전기적 특성 평가를 위해, 4-point probe 측정 및 Hall measurement를 시행하였으며, 광학적 특성을 확인하기 위하여 UV-Visable spectrometer를 이용하여 투과도를 측정하였다. 본 연구를 통해 현재 상용화된 광전자 소자에 사용되고 있는 ITO 투명전극을 대체할 차세대 투명전극으로써 AZO 박막의 가능성을 확인하였다.

  • PEMFC의 전기화학적 반응은 촉매, 이오노머, 기공이 만나는 삼상계면에서만 일어나므로, 전극 구조의 최적화가 성능 향상 및 장기안정성 확보에 있어 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 전극 미세구조를 실시간으로 분석하기 위해 임피던스 복소캐패시턴스법을 도입하고자 하였다. 즉, PEMFC의 양극에 질소를 공급하면 0.4 V 부근에서 전기이중층 형성 반응만이 일어나는 것을 확인하였으며, 이때 음극에는 수소를 공급하여 기준전극 및 반대전극으로 사용하였다. 측정된 임피던스를 복소캐패시턴스로 변환하고 허수부를 주파수에 대해 도시하면 피크 형태의 곡선이 얻어지는데, (1) 피크 면적은 전극/전해질의 계면면적, (2) 피크 위치는 이오노머 네트워크에 의한 수소이온 전도 특성, (3) 피크 폭은 다공성 구조의 균일도를 각각 나타내므로, 피팅 없이 직접적인 해석이 가능하다는 장점을 가진다. 반면, 기존의 Nyquist 도시법은 피팅에 의한 분석이 필요하며, 전극층의 불균일한 구조로 인해 단순한 등가회로 구성이 어려운 문제점을 가진다. 최종적으로, MEA 제작 조건 및 운전 조건을 변수로 하여 임피던스를 측정하고 복소캐패시턴스 분석을 수행하여, 퇴화 경로를 규명하고 운전 조건을 최적화하고자 하였다.

  • We are investigated to an electrochemical characteristic for Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films by cyclic voltammetry method. The phospholipid compound was deposited by using the LB method on the Indium tin oxide(ITO) glass. We tried to measure the electrochemical by using cyclic voltammetry with three-electrode system(an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode) in 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 N $NaClO_4$ solution. A measuring range was reduced from initial potential -1350 mV, continuously oxidized to 1650 mV. As a result, LB films of the phospholipid compounds are appeared irreversible process caused by only the oxidation current from the cyclic voltammogram. The diffusivity(D) effect of LB films decreased with increasing of phospholipid compound amount.

  • 본 논문은 혈당, 콜레스테롤센서에 적용이 가능한 과산화수소($H_2O_2$) 검출방식인 전기화학발광(Electrochemiluminescence:ECL)법 사용에 필요한 전극특성에 관한 연구이다. 전기화학전극으로 Pt박막전극을 사용하였으며, luminol(5-amino-2, 3-dihydro-1, 4-phthala edione)과 과산화수소($H_2O_2$)의 반응으로 발생한 빛을 포토다이오드(photodiode)를 사용하여 전류를 측정하였다. 사용된 전극은 직사각형(rectangular-type), 교차형(interdigitated-type)의 두 가지 형태를 사용하여, 전극간의 거리와 면적에 따른 ECL특성을 측정하였다. ECL 발광 특성은 전극 면적이 증가함에 따라, 전극거리가 감소함에 따라 증가함을 관찰할 수 있었다.

Potentiometric Determination of Copper with 2,5-Dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole (2,5-Dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole에 의한 구리의 전위차 적정 정량)

  • A potentiometric titration method has been developed for the titration of copper with 2,5-dimercapo-1,3,4-thiadizole in aqueous solution using a silver electrode as an indicator electrode vs. the standard calomel electrode as a reference electrode. The 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole is very sensitive reagent for copper, which has been found to be highly selective for potentiometric determination of copper. Direct titration of trace amount of copper (0.02${\sim}$0.1 mg) is possible in the presence of a number of foreign ions in aqueous solution containing potassium hydrogen phthalate and sodium fluoride as masking agent under atmosphere.
