Effects of Community-Based SSI Programs on Promoting Middle School Students' Understanding of Issues and Character and Values as Citizens: Focused on Fine Dust Issues (지역사회연계 미세먼지 교육프로그램이 중학생들의 이슈에 대한 이해와 시민으로서의 인성과 가치관 함양에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate the effects of community-based SSI programs (SSI-COMM) regarding "fine dust" on promoting middle school students' understanding of community issues and their character and values as citizens. SSI-COMM on fine dust was implemented in 4 middle schools located in Seoul, and 151 7th graders participated in the program lasting over 8 weeks. Data was collected through two questionnaires (i.e. students' understanding of issues, and character and values as citizens) and individual interviews with selected students. Results indicated that there were statistically significant increases in their understanding of fine dust issue after the program. In addition, the program significantly contributed to enhancing students' character and values, especially in the domains of social and moral compassion and socioscientific accountability. Student interviews revealed that they became more aware of the local community problems caused by fine dusts and started to consider what efforts should be made to solve them. They also felt individual responsibility for the occurrence of fine dust, and the need for participation and practice of community activities for vulnerable groups in affected areas.

A Study of Curriculum of Clothings Area' Activity and Need at the Free Learning Semester (자유학기제에서 의생활 영역의 활동과 요구도)

  • This study determined the reality of how middle school students are doing with their free learning semester and what they think about it. Also, the study looked at how many parts of Home Economics and the area of clothing curriculum are being taken and, especially, how many parts of this curriculum content are being required as free learning semester activities. This study aims to not only develop free learning semester activities according to student demand but also at providing a basic resource that can help activate the area of clothing curriculum in subject of Home Economics. In short: 1) Middle school students are attending activities such as career exploration activities, student selection activities, club activities, arts activities and physical education activities thoroughly through the free learning semester. These mostly take place in school and most of the students were taught by teachers from their own school. 2) The students are aware that the free learning semester's activities are helpful for them. The most helpful part was that it reduces the load they get from the school's exam and also the fact that they can investigate areas in which they are interested. 3) The number of students who have already taken or are taking activities related to Home Economics were 145, which is about 1/3 of the 451 students overall. The area where the most of the activities were held out of those activities related to Home Economics was the domain of food while the clothing curriculum accounted for a very small part compared to it. 4) The study found that need for a clothing curriculum for middle school student free learning semesters was about 2.79 on a scale from 1 to 5. The areas of most interest in this topic were highly related to 'making and mending clothes'.

  • Semiconductor technology includes from semiconductor materials, design, fabrication, handling of process equipments, reliability test to packaged semiconductor devices. Our departmental curriculum is organized with 2-years/6-quarters system of Ulsan College: the understanding for the fundamental of semiconductor is carried out in the first academic year and the training for the design skill on semiconductor devices will be focused in the second academic year. The main focus is reflected on the worldwide trend on the design engineering of semiconductor devices and considered for the market establishment on design engineers trained by the lab-oriented practice as well as the fundamental of semiconductor technology.

Current States and Teachers Perceptions of Technology.Home Economics in the 2009 Revised National Curriculum of the Middle School (2009 개정 교육과정에 따른 2011학년도 중학교 1학년 기술.가정 교과의 운영 실태와 가정과 교사의 인식)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out how to operate Technology Home Economics in the 2009 revised national curriculum and Home Economics teachers perception on the current states in the middle schools, focused on intensive course-taking, block-time, and total hours to take the course. Data were collected from the 118 Home Economics teachers nationwide through e-mail from May 25 to June 4, 2011, and analyzed with frequencies, percentage, means, t-test, cross-tabulations, and ANOVA. The results showed that Technology Home Economics was intensively taken in the most of all schools(91.5%) during 4 semesters by senior and freshmen or junior. Teachers were relatively less involved in the decision making process for intensive course-taking than did the school managers and dissatisfied with the fact of intensive course-taking. But a few school adopted block-time and most teachers did not think it was necessary. Over half of schools offered the same 16 hours of Technology Home Economics as in the previous 2007 revised curriculum, but nearly 2 out of 5 schools reduced the hours from 1 to 8 with an average of 2.8 hours. To keep the necessary hours to teach the full contents of Technology Home Economics should be protected. The follow-up research needs to be conducted to investigate the changes in the perception of Home Economics teachers.

An exploration on the core competencies of the students majoring in IT through the college classes : In the case of software and robotics classes (대학 수업을 통해 함양된 IT전공자들의 핵심 역량 탐색 : 소프트웨어 및 로봇 관련 과목을 중심으로)

  • 본 논문에서는 IT전공자들을 위해 개설된 소프트웨어 관련 과목과 로보틱스 관련 과목을 통해 학생들이 함양되었다고 인식하는 제 4차 산업혁명에 필요한 핵심 역량 및 대학생 핵심 역량을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 한 학기동안 소프트웨어 관련 과목과 로봇 관련 과목을 수강한 경기도의 ${\bigcirc}$대학교 1, 2학년 160명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하고 총 6명을 대상으로 포커스그룹 인터뷰를 실시하여 분석하였다. 양적 분석 결과 제 4차 산업 혁명에 필요한 핵심역량 중 소프트웨어 관련 과목의 학생들은 업무처리 기술을, 로보틱스 관련 학생들은 복잡한 문제를 해결하는 기술이 함양되었다는 응답이 가장 많았다. 또한, 대학생 핵심 역량 중 소프트웨어 관련 과목을 수강한 학생들은 자기관리역량이, 로보틱스 관련 과목을 수강한 학생들은 종합적 사고력이 함양되었다는 응답이 가장 많았다. 질적 분석 결과에서도 소프트웨어 관련 과목 수강생들은 자기주도적 학습 능력이나 계획 수립 및 실행 능력과 자기 및 타인 모니터링 능력, 비판적 사고 능력이, 로보틱스 관련 과목 수강생들은 창의력, 문제해결능력, 의사결정능력, 논리적 사고력이 이전보다 긍정적인 측면에서 변화된 것으로 분석되었다. 인공지능, 로봇 등 IT기반의 제 4차 산업 혁명에 적합한 인재 양성을 위해 대학이 다양한 노력을 기울이고 있는 시점에서, 본 연구는 제 4차 산업혁명의 중심이라 할 수 있는 IT전공자를 위해 개발된 소프트웨어 및 로봇 관련 수업의 효과를 분석함으로써 시대의 변화에 적합한 대학 수업의 설계와 운영에 대한 시사점을 제공했다는 측면에서 의의가 있다.

Study on Operation Strategy of Track-Based Curriculum for Innovative Engineering Education Industry (공학교육혁신을 위한 트랙제 교육과정 운영 방안 연구)

  • Hankyong National University decided to introduce a track-based curriculum for a curriculum innovation as it switched a Polytechnic University system into a general University system. A TF(task force) team was formed to study a operation strategy of a track curriculum and the opinions of campus members and educationist were gathered. Such systematic preparation was performed for the introduction of the track. Based on those works, a track-based curriculum has been operating from 2012 spring semester. A track system defines that the curriculum in a department is divided into specific majors(or tracks) and the department/agency guarantees their expertise if the students complete the course of a specific major to increase the depth and expertise in the field of study or specific areas. Track means a set of customized courses that are demanded by the corporations, and the courses include basically specific education activities, levels of education, and educational contents required for job or position of the corporation. In this paper, any issues, that arose through the operations of the track-based curriculum at Department of Electrical, Electronic and Control Engineering in Hankyong National University, and their possible solution were presented.

Development of a Free School Year Program for Sustainable Fashion Education I -Focused on Status Analysis and Suggestion about the Program- (지속가능패션교육을 위한 자유학년제 프로그램 개발 (제1보) -프로그램 현황 분석 및 제안을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a free semester program using sustainable materials therefore improving the clothing & textiles section of the middle school textbook and the systematic and in-depth sustainable fashion education based on theme selection activity, as one of free semester system activities in the middle school. Our analysis on the programs, which was performed from 2018 to 2019, showed that the clothing & textiles programs were majorly focused making simple household items through basic needlework and knitting. The programs that related to the sustainable fashion education were environmental programs associated with other textbooks, or mainly included simple upcycling and were mainly operated as arts & physical education or club activities, rather than theme selection programs. According to results from a questionnaire survey on teachers incharge of the system, they had an intention of starting sustainable fashion education program or clothing & textiles section but failed due to low number of participants, practice cost, and time burden. Based on our analysis, this study proposed a 17-session based free semester program that includes the understanding of the sustainable fashions concept, classification of sustainable materials and systematic and stepwise practice in association with the middle school textbook clothing & textile section. The teaching materials developed in this study are expected to be incorporated in the program that helps students understand the right concept of sustainable fashions and respond to the pending environmental issue actively and systematically.

  • 본격적인 새 학기가 시작된 3월의 전체적인 게임사용량은 2월 대비 소폭 하락하는 모습을 보였다. 그러나 상위권을 형성하고 있는 10위권 내 게임들은 기존 유저들을 기반으로 순위에 큰 변화가 없는 반면, 이하 30위까지 중위권을 형성하고 있는 게임들은 PRG와 아케이드를 중심으로 일부 게임들의 순위변화가 큰 폭으로 이루어졌다. 특히 ,최근 오픈 베타 테스트를 시작한 <그리나도 에스파다>,<제라>,<용천기>등 대작 RPG들의 상승폭이 컸으며, <겟엠프드>,<오디션>과 같은 캐주얼게임 또한 순위가 상승했다. 그러나 , 지금까지 꾸준한 사용량을 보이며 상위권에 포진해 있던 <카트라이더>,<열혈강호>,<워록>,<알투비트>등은 2~5계단 순위가 하락하며 상대적으로 부진한 모습을 보였다. 오픈 베타 테스트를 시작한 대작 게임들과 상위권을 고수하기 위한 기존 게임들의 본격적인 경쟁이 시작된 3월 한 달간의 게임 동향을 살펴봤다.

IFLA 코펜하겐 대회 참관기

  • 제63차 IFLA 총회가 1997년 8월 31일부터 9월 5일까지 덴마크의 코펜하겐에 있는 Bella Center에서 열렸다. 이번 총회에는 세계 각국에서 2,500여명이 참석하여 성황을 이루었다. 한국에서는 도서관협회의 사공 철 회장님을 비롯하여 33명이 참석하였다. A팀과 B팀으로 나뉘어 구성된 한국참가자들은 대회 참석을 전후하여 프랑스 파리, 독일의 프랑크푸르트와 하이델베르그, 영국의 런던 등을 거쳐 세계를 배우는 기회를 가졌다. 필자는 A팀에 소속되었지만 프랑스 파리를 돌아보는 여정에는 합류하지 못하였고 코펜하겐 공항에서 합류하였다. 사실 필자는 금년 4월 중순경까지도 총회에 참석하겠다는 계획이 전혀 없었다. 왜냐하면 총회의 개최 시기가 2학기 시작 후이기 때문에 참석하는 것에 무리가 따르리라는 생각이 있었기 때문이다. 그러나 참으로 사람 사는 일은 알 수가 없는 것인지 어느 봄날에 핀란드와 오스트레일리아에서 날아든 e-mail 때문에 코펜하겐까지 가게 되었고 급기야는 이렇게 탐방기를 쓰게 되었다. 대회의 규모가 워낙 크기 때문에 장님 코끼리 만지는 식의 이야기가 될지도 모르지만 코펜하겐에서의 나의 경험에 바탕을 두어 일기식으로 적어나감으로서 독자들로 하여금 조금이나마 총회와 코펜하겐을 짐작할 수 있게 하고싶다.

A Study on the Implementation of 'Free Inquiry' in Middle School Science (중학교 과학에서 '자유 탐구'의 현장 적용 실태 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how 'free inquiry' was implemented in middle school science classrooms. In order to do this, survey and interviews were administered. The subject of survey was 165 science teachers at 58 middle schools and interviewees were 4 teachers and 10 students. As a result, 49.6% of science teachers in school year 2010, and 34.1% in 2011 applied 'free inquiry'. Teachers applied 'free inquiry' during one semester, and they let the students select topic of 'free inquiry'. Teachers grouped students according to students' opinion or their gender and ability, and one group was consisted of 4 students. The effect of applying 'free inquiry' was that students improved the interest on science, science inquiry ability and self directed learning capability. Students were interested in doing 'free inquiry', and they wanted to do it again. Teachers claimed that it took much time and effort to apply 'free inquiry', and students lacked science inquiry skills and interest on science. The teachers who did not apply 'free inquiry' stated reasons such as the shortage of instructional time, and they didn't think that 'free inquiry' should be implemented. For the effective implementation of 'free inquiry', this study suggested that teachers should be recognized the intention of 'free inquiry', teaching-learning materials about 'free inquiry' be developed and provided, and laboratory assistants be employed.
