This paper proposes a design and fabrication of the test equipment that is implemented as a part of the airborne tracking radar inspection under the environment of indoor simulation. This test equipment provides controlling the operation status of airborne tracking radar and replicating the velocity and range information of target by generating a variety of target signal. This is mainly composed of radar operation controller, target signal generator, horn antenna driving devices. Radar operation controller is able to perform the controlling of radar operation mode and monitoring in real time by serial communication. Target signal generator is generated doppler signal and range delayed signal using virtual target of RF-band. Horn antenna driving devices perform a role of target simulating exercise. In the end, the performance is demonstrated using experiment results of test equipment for airborne tracking radar.

This research proposes a prototype for visualizing radar rainfall data using the unity 3D engine. The mashup of radar data with topographic information is necessary for the 3D visualization of the radar data with high quality. However, the mashup of a huge amount of radar data and topographic data causes the overload of data processing and low quality of the visualization results. This research utilized the Unitiy 3D engine, a widely used engine in the game industry, for visualizing the 3D topographic data such as the satellite imagery/the DEM(Digital Elevation Model) and radar rainfall data. The satellite image segmentation technique and the image texture layer mashup technique are employed to construct the 3D visualization system prototype based on the topographic information. The developed protype will be applied to the disaster-prevention works by providing the radar rainfall data with the 3D visualization based on the topographic information.

This paper presents high resolution techniques of three-dimensional(3D) scattering center extraction for a radar backscattered signal in radar target recognition. We propose a 3D pairing procedure, a new approach to estimate 3D scattering centers. This pairing procedure is more accurate and robust than the general criterion. 3D MEMP(Matrix Enhancement and Matrix Pencil) with the 3D pairing procedure first creates an autocorrelation matrix from radar backscattered field data samples. A matrix pencil method is then used to extract 3D scattering centers from the principal eigenvectors of the autocorrelation matrix. An autocorrelation matrix is constructed by the MSSP(modified spatial smoothing preprocessing) method. The observation matrix required for estimation of 3D scattering center locations is built using the sparse scanning order conception. In order to demonstrate the performance of the proposed technique, we use backscattered field data generated by ideal point scatterers.

Active phased array antenna structure is used for modern multi-function radars. To search targets in high clutter environment, the radar receiver needs high dynamic range performance. Though active phased array antenna structure lead to increase of SNR, the SFDR is not increased. In this paper, high SFDR receiver of X-band active phased array radar was designed and manufactured. One channel digital receiver is connected to 32 T/R modules and one PCB assembly is composed to 2 channel digital receivers with RF part, ADC part, LO distribution part and digital down conversion part. A commercial FIFO board was used for digital receiver measurement about major performance in digital output signal condition. The measured digital receiver gain and SFDR is 33 dB and more than 81 dBc each.

This paper presents a compact K-band Doppler radar sensor for human vital signal detection that uses a radar configuration with only single coupler. The proposed radar front-end configuration can reduce the chip size and the additional RF power loss. The radar front-end IC is composed of a Lange coupler, VCO, and single balanced mixer. The oscillation frequency of the VCO is from 27.3 to 27.8 GHz. The phase noise of the VCO is -91.2 dBc/Hz at a 1 MHz offset frequency, and the output power is -4.8 dBm. The conversion gain of the mixer is about 11 dB. The chip size is $0.89{\times}1.47mm^2$. The compact Ka-band Doppler radar system was developed in order to demonstrate remote human vital signal detection. The radar system consists of a Ka-band Doppler radar module with a $2{\times}2$ patch array antenna, baseband signal conditioning block, DAQ system, and signal processing program. The front-end module size is $2.5{\times}2.5cm^2$. The proposed radar sensor can properly capture a human heartbeat and respiration rate at the distance of 50 cm.

In this paper, Ka-band transceiver for road watch radar system is designed and fabricated. The transceiver for road watch radar system is composed of waveform generator, frequency generator. IF transceiver and RF up/down converter. The transceiver especially has 3 different waveform mode for target detection range. The transceiver had over 150 MHz bandwidth in Ka-band and 22 dBm output power. The receiver gain and noise figure was 30 dB and 4 dB respectively. The receive dynamic range was 65.28dB and amplitude imbalance and phase imbalance of I/Q channel was 0.3 dB and 1.8 degree respectively. The transceiver meets the required electrical performances through the individual tests.
With increased human activity in space, the risk of re-entry and collision between space objects is constantly increasing. Hence, the need for space situational awareness (SSA) programs has been acknowledged by many experienced space agencies. Optical and radar sensors, which enable the surveillance and tracking of space objects, are the most important technical components of SSA systems. In particular, combinations of radar systems and optical sensor networks play an outstanding role in SSA programs. At present, Korea operates the optical wide field patrol network (OWL-Net), the only optical system for tracking space objects. However, due to their dependence on weather conditions and observation time, it is not reasonable to use optical systems alone for SSA initiatives, as they have limited operational availability. Therefore, the strategies for developing radar systems should be considered for an efficient SSA system using currently available technology. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the performance of a radar system in detecting and tracking space objects. With the radar system investigated, the minimum sensitivity is defined as detection of a $1-m^2$ radar cross section (RCS) at an altitude of 2,000 km, with operating frequencies in the L, S, C, X or Ku-band. The results of power budget analysis showed that the maximum detection range of 2,000 km, which includes the low earth orbit (LEO) environment, can be achieved with a transmission power of 900 kW, transmit and receive antenna gains of 40 dB and 43 dB, respectively, a pulse width of 2 ms, and a signal processing gain of 13.3 dB, at a frequency of 1.3 GHz. We defined the key parameters of the radar following a performance analysis of the system. This research can thus provide guidelines for the conceptual design of radar systems for national SSA initiatives.

In this paper, we propose a multiple-input, multiple-output(MIMO) interferometric radar network system to generate three-dimensional (3-D) MIMO interferometric inverse synthetic aperture radar(InISAR) image. In the MIMO interferometric radar network system, the MIMO InISAR image can be formed by an incoherent summation of multiple bistatic InISAR images that show 3-D scatterers of a target observed at different bistatic interfermetric configurations, respectively. Because bistatic-sccattering physics of a target at different viewpoints are visible in the 3-D MIMO InISAR image, it can provide various scatterering physics properties of a target, and can be used for target classification as a useful feature vector. Simulations validate that our proposed method successfully finds locations of scatterers of a target in MIMO radar interferometric network system.

A dual-band through-the-wall imaging radar receiver for a frequency-modulated continuous-wave radar system was designed and fabricated. The operating frequency bands of the receiver are S-band (2-4 GHz) and X-band (8-12 GHz). If the target is behind a wall, wall-reflected waves are rejected by a reconfigurable $G_m-C$ high-pass filter. The filter is designed using a high-order admittance synthesis method, and consists of transconductor circuits and capacitors. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned by changing the reference current. The receiver system is fabricated on a printed circuit board using commercial devices. Measurements show 44.3 dB gain and 3.7 dB noise figure for the S-band input, and 58 dB gain and 3.02 dB noise figure for the X-band input. The cutoff frequency of the filter can be tuned from 0.7 MHz to 2.4 MHz.

The receiver of this paper is Dual-band monopulse type for prototype of tracking radar. Localization of radar technology is an issue of SamsungThales and go into development. Dual-band radar in comparison with Single-band radar requires higher cost and power consumption but there are many advantages of dealing with jamming, detection range, image signal rejection, cloud-rain influence, clutter, resolution. The receiver is comprised of X-band RF head module, Ka-band RF head module and common IF module. Each signal of X-band and Ka-band is selected by the switch in If module. Phase shifter in IF module of local stage controls the phase of sum, azimuth, elevation channel. In the test result, gain is $40{\pm}3 dB$, isolation of transmitter/receiver is 39 dBc, dynamic range is 110 dB and noise figure of each channel is 4.5dB and 6.9dB.
