  • One of the most remarkable aspects of the recently completed 3GPP release-15 (5G new radio phase 1) is the fact that some millimeter-wave bands have been officially approved for 5G mobile communications. Because the demand for higher transmission capacity has only grown, other millimeter-wave or even higher-frequency terahertz-wave bands have attracted more attention over time. Based on this effort, this paper reviews and discusses the existing technologies and their trends in high-frequency circuits and systems at the millimeter and terahertz-wave bands, particularly for future mobile communications.

  • This article presents an overview of the key technologies in the communications payload of broadband LEO satellite communications systems. In recent years, new developments have been realized for LEO satellite communications. SpaceX's Starlink, a technology leader in this field, offers premium services with satellites carrying in-house developed communications payloads. OneWeb, Amazon, Telesat, and Boeing are also developing LEO satellite communications payloads. The communications payload consists of user link antennas, inter-satellite link communications equipment, feeder link antennas, and a digital processor. Highly sophisticated technologies of compact active phased array antennas for generating multiple hopping beams and light laser communication equipment for ultra-high-speed inter-satellite communication will be applied to next- generation payloads.

  • As the usability and value of personal information increase, the importance of privacy protection has increased. In Korea, the scope of the use of pseudonymized personal information has increased because of revisions to the law. In the past, security technologies were used to safely store and manage personal information, but now, security technologies focused on usability are needed to safely use personal information. In this paper, we look at issues related to the de-identification and re-identification of personal information. Moreover, we examine the standards and techniques related to the de-identification of personal information.

  • An analysis was conducted to predict technical trends for the highly efficient absorption refrigeration system. The study was based on submitted patent during January 1981 and December 2000 in Korea, Japan and U.S.A. The analysis are divided with two categories as component technology and refrigeration type technology. The analysis was focused on component technologies rather than the absorption cycle or system technologies.

  • According as IT environment changes from client/server system to the open system based on web service technologies, the exchange of data and services between independent applications and service servers in web environment is observed Recently. In this points, it is necessary that Geographic Information Systems, Spatial Imagery Information Systems, Intelligent Transportation Systems, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems based on the location and geometry information are inter-related each other. But, the inter-relation of these systems is very difficult because of the closed system architecture, different information format, and the absence of interoperability technologies. In this Paper, we describe 4S integration system based web service technologies that accept the international standard as WFS, WCS, WRS of OGC (OpenGIS Consortium) and UDDI, SOAP, WSDL of W3C. In detail, we study the system architecture design and implementation of traffic information service, routing service, and tracing service. These services are consisting of the data schema based on XML and GML, various functions of each layered service, each server platform, and web server. Specially, we represent that GML is being applied to a wide range of location-based services, telematics, and intelligent transportation

  • The emergency diesel generator(EDG) of the nuclear power plant is designed to supply the power to the nuclear reactor on Station Black Out(SBO) condition. The operation reliability of onsite emergency diesel generator should be ensured by a conditioning monitoring system designed to monitor and analysis the condition of diesel generator. For this purpose, we have developing the technologies of condition monitoring for the wolsong unit 3&4 standby diesel generator including diesel engine performance. In this paper, technologies of condition monitoring for the wolsong standby diesel generator are described about three step. First is for selection of operating parameter for monitoring. Second is for technologies of online condition monitoring, Third is for monitoring of engine performance.

  • Smart tourism research and development have mainly focused on the benefits of smart tourism technologies to certain stakeholders with transactional relationships in destinations. However, smart technologies in destinations could also cause several negative outcomes, leading to social, ethical, and moral issues. Such issues arise from the power imbalance between different stakeholders of smart tourism development. To mitigate the adverse effects of smart technologies, destinations need to enunciate the essential moral and ethical principles when developing smart tourism. Therefore, adopting descriptive and normative approaches to stakeholder theory, this paper proposes a framework to showcase several methods to address the issues.

  • The number of environment-related technologies has increased remarkably over the past two decades, as has the public's interest in effective resource use and ways to reduce the effects of global warming. Industries that are based on environment-related technologies are thus growing rapidly. Previous studies revealed that externalities derived from the population concentration in urban areas positively affect agglomerations of high-tech industries. Such externalities have been named the "knowledge spillover effect". The purposes of the present paper are to (1) give a thumbnail sketch of the locations of environment-related industries around the world, using the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development environment-related patent statistics, and (2) explicate the effects of the Marshall-Arrow-Romer (MAR) and Jacobs externalities, which result from population concentrations in urban areas, on the agglomeration of environment-related industries in Sweden. The analysis revealed that environment-related industries are located chiefly in urban areas across the globe, and that only the MAR externalities influenced positively on the agglomeration of these industries in Sweden.
