Performance Analysis of MBMS and Wi-Fi Priority Policy in Heterogeneous Networks having a dispersed Single-cell MBMS (분산된 단일 셀 MBMS을 지원하는 이종 네트워크 환경에서 MBMS와 와이파이 사용자 우선 정책에 대한 성능 분석)

  • With the rising popularity of smart-phones, the supply of Internet protocol television is largely increased and it causes the wireless communication network load to be increased. To overcome such an overloading problem, 3GPP is now working on the standardization of MBMS since LTE Release 6 specification. MBMS has good performance in bandwidth efficiency by sharing the same bandwidth with the mulitple MBMS users having the same content. According to the proposed algorithm, in heterogeneous networks having a dispersed Single-cell MBMS where 3GPP network and Wi-Fi network are mixed, if the number of MBMS users, who are belonging to cells supporting a dispersed Single-cell MBMS, is more than a specified threshold, the MBMS priority policy is operated. Otherwise, the Wi-Fi priority policy is executed. As the simulation results show both the increase of total available bandwidth ratio and the decrease of network usage cost, it is confirmed that the proposed scheme allows the network efficiency to be maximized.

  • 3GPP에서는 단대단 QoS 보장을 위해 정책 기반 망 관리(PBNM:Policy-based Network Management) 방식을 적용할 것을 권고하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 3GPP에서 제시하는 핵심망 구조에 정책 기반 망 관리 기법 중 DiffServ를 적용해서 현재 DSCP(Differentiated Service Code Point)는 8bit 구성되어 있으나 그 중 6bit만 사용되고 있고, 사용하지 않는 이 2bit를 사용하여 DF(Default Forwarding), EF(Expedited Forwarding), AF(Assured Forwarding)의 DSCP에 Service Class Code Point를 부여해서 DiffServ를 서비스하는 망에서 동일한 Diffserv 정책을 설정해서 효율적인 QoS 기법을 제안하고자 한다.

  • Both the 1xEV-DV and HSDPA are advanced standards which can make high speed packet data services come true in mobile communications environment. Both specifications look similar in a point of allocating their radio access resources based on the real-time variation of wireless channels. This paper introduces BTS modems and channel cards for 1xEV-DV and HSDPA developed by LG Electronics, Inc.

  • VoIP는 인터넷을 통한 음성 전화를 제공하는 기술이다. 유선의 PSTN과 인터넷간에 VoIP 기술을 적용하여 음성 전화를 제공한 데 이어, 이동통신 네트워크에서도 VoIP 기술에 의한 음성 서비스를 제공할 예정이다. 본 고에서는 유선 및 무선 통합 네트워크에서 VoIP 기술을 수용하기 위한 공통 논리 기능을 정의하고, 각 공통 논리 기능에 대한 IETF, ITU-T, 3GPP, 3GPP2 표준 규격의 기능 관계를 분석하여 유선, 무선, 인터넷의 통합 네트워크 구조를 제시하였다. 본 고에서 제시한 유선, 무선, 인터넷의 공통 논리 기능 구조는 유무선 네트워크를 통합할 수 있는 원천 기술 개발의 개념 구조로 사용할 수 있다.

  • Vast amounts of different service-specific requirements and vertical network slicing in a 5G network increase the complexity, cost of the network management and resource operations for carriers. To solve this problem, 3GPP is working on the standardization of NWDAF to support the automation of the 5G network by utilizing artificial intelligence technologies based on Big Data to improve the efficiency of network management and resource operation. In addition, the ETSI ZSM Industry Specification Group is developing technical standards for the automation of end-to-end network management and service delivery. This document provides an overall survey of the latest standardization issues of the NWDAF in 3GPP and ETSI ZSM for 5G network automation and intelligence.

  • Energy efficiency is an important factor toward sustainable future mobile network systems. As the size of the 5G mobile network system increases, the consumption and costs of energy increase. Accordingly, energy-saving optimization has become a major process in network systems, and various related technologies for energy saving are being developed. We provide a brief review of the technical trends in energy saving in 3GPP 5G & 5G Advanced systems and O-RAN systems. We focus on power models and energy-saving technologies in various resource domains of 3GPP 5G & 5G Advanced systems and energy-saving use cases of O-RAN systems.

  • This article presents spectrum sharing policy trends both overseas and domestically. The Federal Communications Commission recently adopted rules for the commercial use of a 150 MHz bandwidth at 3.55 to 3.7 GHz, which has been utilized for defense and satellite services. This frequency band for spectrum sharing is called the citizens broadband radio service (CBRS) band. In Europe, the related regimes for licensed shared access application at 2.3 to 2.4 GHz has been organized, and interface standardization for sharing frequency information has been completed. In Korea, efforts are being made to establish spectrum-sharing policies to improve the efficiency of the frequency utilization. This article also introduces both the IEEE 802 local area network/metropolitan area network and 3GPP standardization activities with regard to frequency sharing technologies. To effectively solve the spectrum-sharing problem in IEEE 802, standardization activities on the CBRS and the mid-band (3.7-24 GHz) are underway. 3GPP is currently developing the standardization of a licensed assisted access technology, which extends mobile communication services provided in the licensed band to unlicensed bands.

Priority-Based Random Access control for M2M Service in 3GPP LTE-A System (3GPP LTE-A 시스템에서 M2M 서비스를 위한 우선순위 기반 임의접속제어)

  • In this paper, we propose two algorithms for classifying services with similar delay characteristics into three classes and allocating radio resources according to priority in LTE-A system where H2H and M2M services coexist. The first is to allocate resources from the higher priority class to the lower priority class, and each class gives priority to H2H over M2M, and the other is to give priority to H2H regardless of delay characteristics except for the class with the highest priority. The RA success probability was analyzed according to the access rate(${\alpha}$) of M2M devices in each class. In comparison with the conventional systems, it was improved from 0.5 to 0.52 for ${\alpha}_{2M}=0.05$ in two classes. In the three classes, the success probability was slightly increased from 0.5 to 0.57 for ${\alpha}_{2M}={\alpha}_{3M}=1$ and from 0.5 to 0.58 for ${\alpha}_{2M}=0.5$ and ${\alpha}_{3M}=0.1$. Although 6 services are considered in the proposed scheme, the RA success probability is almost similar to the previous scheme because the average arrival rate of H2H of each class is set to the same.

Implementation of the T:1 protocol based on lava Card for USIM (자바 카드를 기반으로 한 UISM 용 T=1 프로토콜의 구현)

  • This paper describes the design and implementation of the T=1 protocol based on lava Card. The T=1 protocol implemented in this paper complies with ISO/IEC 7816 standard. Also, JCOS(Java Card Operating Systems) including the contactless card protocol conforms to Java Card 2.2.1 specification and is running on 32-bit ARM7/TDMI processor. The protocol stack proposed and implemented in this paper is easy to maintenance of protocol independently. To verify the T=1 protocol implemented in this paper we tested the T=1 protocol scenarios defined in ISO/IEC 7816-3 Annex A. And we tested using USIM(Universal Subscriber Identity Module) cards, which include the implemented T=1 protocol. The T=1 protocol was tested and passed all against the specification 3GPP TS 31.122, which was the Conformance Test Specification for USIM cards including the test suites of both transmission protocols.

  • In this paper, we present refarming plans and discuss about Radio Waves Law improvements to promote the efficient use of the 1.8 GHz(3GPP band 3) which is emerging as the best prime band for LTE-FDD service. We think it is important to make use of the entire band for mobile use in accordance with contiguity requirement, especially for LTE such as European countries, which is currently separated between different uses. We present two options with illustrative examples to enable that objective. And we identify several provisions in the Radio Waves Law expected to cause controversy when activates one between two options as the policy, and discuss improvements of those.
