  • This research aim concerns questioning how we can generate environments suggestive of nature fused with built environments through textiles. Through literature reviews and experiments with available the 3D imaging techniques of Holography, Lenticular and other new technologies. We also have researched towards finding the most effective method for 3D imaging techniques for textile applications. The advantage of the combining technique is to create the possibility of seeing a number of different floating 3D illusory images, depending on the viewing angle. This objective is to produce intriguing textile patterns and images in which the objects and colours change as viewpoints change. Experimental work was carried out in collaboration with professional textile researchers, scientists, artists and designers conducting research in this field.

  • Holographic stereogram (HS) printing is a promising holographic technique for three-dimensional (3D) visualization of an object with accurate depth cues. In this paper, unlike the conventional rectangular hogel based HS, efficient hexagonal hogels sampling for HS printing that enhances the volumetric visualization of reconstruction while providing rapidly generated data using inverse-directed propagation (IDP) is proposed. Specifically, an array of hexagonal hogels is sampled by a computer-generated integral imaging technique using an IDP, which acquires the full information of the 3D object prior to higher volumetric 3D reconstruction. To demonstrate the proposed approach, IDP-based hexagonal hogel sampling for HS printing is implemented, and the enhanced image quality of printed holograms is verified both by numerical simulation and in an optical experiment.

  • Novel computational integral imaging technique with enhanced depth sensitivity is proposed. For each lateral position at a given depth plane, the dissimilarity between corresponding pixels of the elemental images is measured and used as a suppressing factor for that position. Experimental and simulation results show that reconstructed depth image on the incorrect depth plane is effectively suppressed.

  • In this paper, we propose a novel computational integral imaging reconstruction (CIIR) method using round-type mapping model. Proposed CIIP method can overcome problems of non-uniformly reconstructed images caused from the conventional method and improve the resoulution of 3-D images. To show the usefulness of the proposed method, both computational experiment and optical experiment are carried out and their results are presented.

  • This paper presents a prototype of high resolution 3D display with a new principle. We have proposed a new 3D display which has the features of both Integral Imaging (II) and volumetric display. The proposed display consists of two lens arrays and a thin volumetric display. When the viewer watches a thin volumetric display through two lens array, he can perceive a thick 3D image. In other words the two lens arrays can play a role of a convex lens which has a large diameter as a amplification of a depth. The advantage of the proposed display is that it has higher resolution than II and it is smaller than volumetric display with a large convex lens. In this paper, we show a detail of a prototype 3D display. We took various errors into consideration when we simulated 3D display and we found suitable lenses parameter from the simulation result. Then we confirm that the prototype will be able to reconstruct 3D images.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to generate defocusing images at the focusing plane using the 3D spatial information of object through pickup process of integral imaging technique. In the proposed method, the focusing and defocusing images are generated by the convolution operation between elemental images and ${\delta}$ function array. We observed the image difference by defocusing degree according to the distance of focusing plane. To show the feasibility of the proposed method, some preliminary experiments are carried out and the results are presented.
