Measurement of GMAW Bead Geometry Using Biprism Stereo Vision Sensor (바이프리즘 스테레오 시각 센서를 이용한 GMA 용접 비드의 3차원 형상 측정)

  • Three-diemnsional bead profile was measured using the biprism stereo vision sensor in GMAW, which consists of an optical filter, biprism and CCD camera. Since single CCD camera is used, this system has various advantages over the conventional stereo vision system using two cameras such as finding the corresponding points along the horizontal scanline. In this wort, the biprism stereo vision sensor was designed for the GMAW, and the linear calibration method was proposed to determine the prism and camera parameters. Image processing techniques were employed to find the corresponding point along the pool boundary. The ism-intensity contour corresponding to the pool boundary was found in the pixel order and the filter-based matching algorithm was used to refine the corresponding points in the subpixel order. Predicted bead dimensions were in broad agreements with the measured results under the conditions of spray mode and humping bead.

Effect of Bead Device Diameter on Z-Resolution Measurement in Tomosynthesis Images: A Simulation Study

  • Purpose: To clarify the relationship between the diameter of the simulated bead and the Z-resolution of the tomosynthesis image. Methods: A simulated bead was placed on a 1,024×1,024×1,024-pixel base image. The diameters were set to 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.7, 1.0, and 1.3 mm. A bead was placed at the center of the base image and projected at a simulated X-ray angle range of ±45° to obtain a projected image. A region of interest was placed at the center of the bead image and the slice sensitivity profile (SSP) was obtained by acquiring pixel values in the z-direction. The full width at half maximum of the SSP was defined as the Z-resolution and the frequency response was obtained by the 1-D Fourier transform of the SSP. Results: Z-resolution increased with increasing bead diameter. However, there was no change in Z-resolution between 0.025 and 0.1 mm. The frequency response was similar to that of the Z-resolution, with a significant difference between 0.1 and 0.2 mm diameter. Conclusions: Z-resolution is dependent on the diameter of the bead, which should be selected considering the pixel size of the tomosynthesis image.

  • Three dimensional laser welding technology for light car body is studied. A robot, a seam tracking system and 4kW CW Nd:YAG laser are used for three dimensional robot laser welding system. The Laser system is used 4kW Nd:YAG laser(HL4006D) of Trumpf and the Robot system is used IRB6400R of ABB. The Seam tracking system is SMRT-20LS of ServoRobot. The welding joint of steel plate are butt and lap joint. The 3-D welding for Non-linear Tailored blank is performed after the observation experiments of bead on plate. Finally, the welding process for non-linear tailored blank and front side member is developed.
