  • We present the physical properties of star forming regions in IC 10 obtained from Korea VLBI Network (KVN) 22GHz, the Submillimeter Array (SMA) CO, Very Large Array (VLA) HI 21cm, optical (U, B, V and H-alpha), and Spitzer infrared observations. IC 10 is a nearby (~0.7Mpc) irregular blue compact dwarf (BCD) galaxy which is likely to be experiencing an intense and recent burst of star formation. This nearby infant system showing high star formation rate but low metallicity (<20% of that of the Sun) provides critical environment of interstellar medium (ISM) under which current galactic star formation models are challenged. To make quantitative analysis of the ISM in the galaxy, we apply 2D cross-correlation technique to the multi-wavelength data for the first time. By cross-correlating different tracers of star formation, dust and gas phases in IC 10 in a two dimensional way, we discuss the gas properties and star formation history of the galaxy.

  • The rapid growth of aerial survey and remote sensing technology has enabled the rapid acquisition of very large amounts of geographic data, which should be analyzed using real-time visualization technology. The level of detail(LOD) algorithm is one of the most important elements for realizing real-time visualization. We chose the triangulated irregular network (TIN) method to generate normalized digital elevation model(DEM) data. First, we generated TIN data using contour lines obtained from a two-dimensional(2D) digital map and created a 2D grid array fitting the size of the area. Then, we generated normalized DEM data by calculating the intersection points between the TIN data and the points on the 2D grid array. We used constrained Delaunay triangulation(CDT) and ray-triangle intersection algorithms to calculate the intersection points between the TIN data and the points on the 2D grid array in each step. In addition, we simulated a three-dimensional(3D) terrain model based on normalized DEM data with real-time visualization using a Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 program in the DirectX API library and a quad-tree LOD algorithm.

Abstract In cellular mobile communication systems, wave propagation models are used in most cases to predict cell coverage. The amount of propagation loss induced by the obstacles in the propagation path, however, is a highly non-linear function, which cannot be easily represented mathematically. In this paper, we introduce the method of producing propagation loss prediction models by function approximation using neural networks. In this method, we assume the propagation loss is a function of the relevant parameters such as the distance from the base station antenna, the specification of the transmitter antenna, obstacle profile, diffraction effect, road, and water effect. The values of these parameters are produced from the field measurement data, 3D digital terrain maps, and vector maps as its inputs by a feature extraction process, which takes into account the physical characteristics of electromagnetic waves such as reflection, diffraction and scattering. The values produced are used as the input to the neural network, which are then trained to become the propagation loss prediction model. In the experimental study, we obtain a considerable amount of improvement over COST-231 model in the prediction accuracy using this model.

  • Small-scale UAS(Fusion technique of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles platform and Sensors, 'sUAS') opens various new applications in construction fields and so becoming progressively common due to the considerable potentials in terms of accuracy, costs and abilities. The purpose of this study is that the investigation of the validation on the utilization of sUAS for earth stockpile volume calculations on sites. For this, generate 3D models(DSM) with sUAS aerial images on an cone shaped soil stockpile approximately $270m{\times}300m{\times}20m$, which located at Baegot Life Park in Siheung-si, compared stockpile volume estimates produced by sUAS image analysis, against volume estimates obtained by GNSS Network-RTK ground surveying method which selected as the criteria of earth stockpile volume. The result through comparison and examination show(demonstrate) that there was under 2% difference between the volume calculated with the GNSS Network RTK data and the sUAV data, especially sUAS imaged-based volume estimate of a stockpile can be greatly simplified, done quickly, and very cost effective over conventional terrestrial survey methods. Therefore, with consideration of various plan to assess the height of vegetation, sUAS image-based application expected very useful both volume estimate and 3D geospatial information extraction in small and medium-sized sites.

  • Deterioration of buildings is one of the biggest problems in modern society, and the importance of a safety diagnosis for old buildings is increasing. Therefore, most countries have legal maintenance and safety diagnosis regulations. However, the reliability of the existing safety diagnostic processes is reduced because they involve subjective judgments in the data collection. In addition, unstructured tasks increase rework rates, which are time-consuming and not cost-effective. Therefore, This paper proposed the method that can calculate the safety grade of deterioration automatically. For this, a DNN structure is generated by using existing precision inspection data and precision safety diagnostic data, and an objective building safety grade is calculated by applying status evaluation data obtained with a UAV, a laser scanner, and reverse engineering 3D models. This automated process is applied to 20 old buildings, taking about 40% less time than needed for a safety diagnosis from the existing manual operation based on the same building area. Subsequently, this study compares the resulting value for the safety grade with the already existing value to verify the accuracy of the grade calculation process, constructing the DNN with high accuracy at about 90%. This is expected to improve the reliability of aging buildings in the future, saving money and time compared to existing technologies, improving economic efficiency.

  • This paper is to show the meaningfulness of applying Information Technology Architecture (ITA) to the modeling of a nation-wide e-Business architecture framework. After reviewing various architecture frameworks we suggested a unique architecture framework called VMT (Views, Models, and Time-frames). VMT represents five views of e-Business stakeholders; six models of data, function, network, agent, event, and rule; and three timeframes of short-term, mid-term, and long-term. VMT is an extension and unification of popular frameworks including Zachman's framework that has international recognition and use, C4ISR architecture framework of US DoD's, and Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework (FEAF) of the US Federal Government's.

  • Visual structural inspections are an inseparable part of post-earthquake damage assessments. With unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) establishing a new frontier in visual inspections, there are major computational challenges in processing the collected massive amounts of high-resolution visual data. We propose twin deep learning models that can provide accurate high-resolution structural components and damage segmentation masks efficiently. The traditional approach to cope with high memory computational demands is to either uniformly downsample the raw images at the price of losing fine local details or cropping smaller parts of the images leading to a loss of global contextual information. Therefore, our twin models comprising Trainable Resizing for high-resolution Segmentation Network (TRS-Net) and DmgFormer approaches the global and local semantics from different perspectives. TRS-Net is a compound, high-resolution segmentation architecture equipped with learnable downsampler and upsampler modules to minimize information loss for optimal performance and efficiency. DmgFormer utilizes a transformer backbone and a convolutional decoder head with skip connections on a grid of crops aiming for high precision learning without downsizing. An augmented inference technique is used to boost performance further and reduce the possible loss of context due to grid cropping. Comprehensive experiments have been performed on the 3D physics-based graphics models (PBGMs) synthetic environments in the QuakeCity dataset. The proposed framework is evaluated using several metrics on three segmentation tasks: component type, component damage state, and global damage (crack, rebar, spalling). The models were developed as part of the 2nd International Competition for Structural Health Monitoring.

  • In this paper we propose an algorithm for generating role-performer bipartite matrix for analyzing BPM-based human resource affiliations. Firstly, the proposed algorithm conducts the extraction of role-performer affiliation relationships from ICN(Infromation Contorl Net) based business process models. Then, the role-performer bipartite matrix is constructed in the final step of the algorithm. Conclusively, the bipartite matrix generated through the proposed algorithm ought to be used as the fundamental data structure for discovering the role-performer affiliation networking knowledge, and by using a variety of social network analysis techniques it enables us to acquire valuable analysis results about BPM-based human resource affiliations.

  • Nowadays, the complexity of object tracking models among hardware applications has become a more in-demand duty to complete in various indeterminable environment tracking situations with multifunctional algorithm skills. In this paper, we propose a virtual city environment using AirSim (Aerial Informatics and Robotics Simulation - AirSim, CityEnvironment) and use the DQN (Deep Q-Learning) model of deep reinforcement learning model in the virtual environment. The proposed object tracking DQN network observes the environment using a deep reinforcement learning model that receives continuous images taken by a virtual environment simulation system as input to control the operation of a virtual drone. The deep reinforcement learning model is pre-trained using various existing continuous image sets. Since the existing various continuous image sets are image data of real environments and objects, it is implemented in 3D to track virtual environments and moving objects in them.

  • Recently, in various fields such as games, movies, and animation, content that uses motion capture to build body models and create characters to express in 3D space is increasing. Studies are underway to generate animations using RGB-D cameras to compensate for problems such as the cost of cinematography in how to place joints by attaching markers, but the problem of pose estimation accuracy or equipment cost still exists. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a system that inputs RGB images into a joint estimation network and converts the results into 3D data to create FBX format animations in order to reduce the equipment cost required for animation creation and increase joint estimation accuracy. First, the two-dimensional joint is estimated for the RGB image, and the three-dimensional coordinates of the joint are estimated using this value. The result is converted to a quaternion, rotated, and an animation in FBX format is created. To measure the accuracy of the proposed method, the system operation was verified by comparing the error between the animation generated based on the 3D position of the marker by attaching a marker to the body and the animation generated by the proposed system.
