The recent global trends display expansion and growing solidity in both cooperative collaboration between industry, education, and research and R&D network systems. A greater support for the network and cooperative research sector would open greater possibilities for the evolution of new scholar and industrial fields and the development of new theories evoked from synergized educational research. Similarly, the national need for a strategy that can most efficiently and effectively support R&D network that are established through the government's R&D project research is on the rise. Despite the growing urgency, due to the habitual dependency on simple individual personal information data regarding R&D industry participants and generalized statistical data references, the policies concerning network system are disappointing and inadequate. Accordingly, analyses of the relationships involved for each subject who is participating in the R&D industry was conducted and on the foundation of an educational-industrial-research network system, possible changes within and of the network that may arise were predicted. To predict the R&D network transitions, Common Neighbor and Jaccard's Coefficient models were designated as the basic foundational models, upon which a new prediction model was proposed to address the limitations of the two aforementioned former models and to increase the accuracy of Link Prediction, with which a comparative analysis was made between the two models. Through the effective predictions regarding R&D network changes and transitions, such study result serves as a stepping-stone for an establishment of a prospective strategy that supports a desirable educational-industrial-research network and proposes a measure to promote the national policy to one that can effectively and efficiently sponsor integrated R&D industries. Though both weighted applications of Common Neighbor and Jaccard's Coefficient models provided positive outcomes, improved accuracy was comparatively more prevalent in the weighted Common Neighbor. An un-weighted Common Neighbor model predicted 650 out of 4,136 whereas a weighted Common Neighbor model predicted 50 more results at a total of 700 predictions. While the Jaccard's model demonstrated slight performance improvements in numeric terms, the differences were found to be insignificant.
Mobile communication technology is advancing forward to deliver more connected devices and richer content and applications. The number of subscriptions continues to grow along with an explosive increase in the mobile data traffic demand. Thereby, it creates a significant network capacity shortage concerns for mobile network operators. In order to address this problem, it is essential to increase the network capacity at a low additional cost. The device-to-device (D2D) communication based proximity service is believed to have a promising future mobile communication technology that is capable to create new mobile service opportunities and offload traffic to the eNB. In addition, it is also required to develop new mobile communication services and its business models not only to accommodate the increasing mobile traffic demand but also to foster profitability of mobile business service providers such as the network providers, contents providers and platform providers. In this article, we first analyze current mobile business eco-system in the context of CPNT based value chain. Then, propose service development framework and business model creation methodologies for the device-to-device communication based services in the beyond LTE/LTE-Advanced systems.
Thermal conductivity of ground has a great influence on the performance of Ground Heat Exchangers (GHEs). In general, the ground thermal conductivity significantly depends on the density (or porosity) and the moisture content since they are decisive factors that determine the interface area between soil particles which is available for heat transfer. In this study, a large number of thermal conductivity experiments were conducted for soils of varying porosity and moisture content, and a database of thermal properties for the weathered granite soils was set up. Based on the database, a 3D Curved Surface Model and an Artificial Neural Network Model (ANNM) were proposed for estimating the thermal conductivity. The new models were validated by comparing predictions by the models with new thermal conductivity data, which had not been used in developing the models. As for the 3D CSM, the normalized average values of training and test data were 1.079 and 1.061 with variations of 0.158 and 0.148, respectively. The predictions became somewhat unreliable in a low range of thermal conductivity values in considering the distribution pattern. As for the ANNM, the 'Logsig-Tansig' transfer function combination with nine neurons gave the most accurate estimates. The normalized average values of training data and test data were 1.006 and 0.954 with variations of 0.026 and 0.098, respectively. It can be concluded that the ANNM gives much better results than the 3D CSM.
3D Object Detection using deep neural network has been developed a lot for obstacle detection in autonomous vehicles because it can recognize not only the class of target object but also the distance from the object. But in the case of 3D Object Detection models, the detection performance for distant objects is lower than that for nearby objects, which is a critical issue for autonomous vehicles. In this paper, we introduce a technique that increases the performance of 3D object detection models, particularly in recognizing distant objects, by generating virtual 3D vehicle data and adding it to the dataset used for model training. We used a spherical point tracing method that leverages the characteristics of 3D LiDAR sensor data to create virtual vehicles that closely resemble real ones, and we demonstrated the validity of the virtual data by using it to improve recognition performance for objects at all distances in model training.

The rapid development of internet technologies and social media over the last few years has generated a huge amount of unstructured text data, which contains a great deal of valuable information and issues. Therefore, text mining-extracting meaningful information from unstructured text data-has gained attention from many researchers in various fields. Topic analysis is a text mining application that is used to determine the main issues in a large volume of text documents. However, it is difficult to identify related issues or meaningful insights as the number of issues derived through topic analysis is too large. Furthermore, traditional issue-clustering methods can only be performed based on the co-occurrence frequency of issue keywords in many documents. Therefore, an association between issues that have a low co-occurrence frequency cannot be recognized using traditional issue-clustering methods, even if those issues are strongly related in other perspectives. Therefore, in this research, a methodology to reorganize social issues from a research and development (R&D) perspective using social network analysis is proposed. Using an R&D perspective lexicon, issues that consistently share the same R&D keywords can be further identified through social network analysis. In this study, the R&D keywords that are associated with a particular issue imply the key technology elements that are needed to solve a particular issue. Issue clustering can then be performed based on the analysis results. Furthermore, the relationship between issues that share the same R&D keywords can be reorganized more systematically, by grouping them into clusters according to the R&D perspective lexicon. We expect that our methodology will contribute to establishing efficient R&D investment policies at the national level by enhancing the reusability of R&D knowledge, based on issue clustering using the R&D perspective lexicon. In addition, business companies could also utilize the results by aligning the R&D with their business strategy plans, to help companies develop innovative products and new technologies that sustain innovative business models.
A large scale polygon models are often used to approximately represent 3D CAD models in Digital Engineering environment such as DMU (Digital Mockups) and network based collaborative design. However, they are not suitable for distribution on the network and for interactive rendering. We introduce a new coding system based on subdivision schemes called S-CODE system. In this system, it is possible to highly compress the model with sufficient accuracy and to view the model efficiently in a level of detail (LOD) fashion. The method is based on subdivision surface fitting by which a subdivision surface and curves which approximate a face of a CAD model are generated. We also apply a subdivision method to analytic surfaces such as conical and cylindrical surfaces. A prototype system is developed and used for evaluation with reasonably complicated data. The results show that the method is useful as a CAD data coding system.

In space based constellation network, users are allowed to enter or leave the network arbitrarily. Hence, the number, identities and transmitted data of active users vary with time and have considerable impacts on the receiver's performance. The so-called problem of multiuser detection means identifying the identity of each active user and detecting the data transmitted by each active user. Traditional methods assume that the number of active users is equal to the maximum number of users that the network can hold. The model of traditional methods are simple and the performance are suboptimal. In this paper a Maximum A Posteriori Probability (MAP) based multiuser detection method is proposed. The proposed method models the activity state of users as Markov chain and transforms multiuser detection into searching optimal path in grid map with BCJR algorithm. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method obtains 2.6dB and 1dB Eb/N0 gains respectively when activity detection error rate and symbol error rate reach 10-3, comparing with reference methods.
This paper highlights the reconstruction of the rectilinear type of 3D rooftop model from satellite image data using centroid neural network. The main idea of the proposed 3D reconstruction method is based on the grouping of 3D line segments. 3D lines are extracted by 2D lines and DEM (Digital Elevation Map) data evaluated from a pair of stereo images. Our grouping process consists of two steps. We carry out the first grouping process to group fragmented or duplicated 3D lines into the principal 3D lines, which can be used to construct the rooftop model, and construct the groups of lines that are parallel each other in the second step. From the grouping result, 3D rooftop models are reconstructed by the final clustering process. High-resolution IKONOS images are utilized for the experiments. The experimental result's indicate that the reconstructed building models almost reflect the actual position and shape of buildings in a precise manner, and that the proposed approach can be efficiently applied to building reconstruction problem from high-resolution satellite images of an urban area.

Sensor data can provide fault diagnosis for equipment. However, the cause analysis for fault results of equipment is not often provided. In this study, we propose an explainable convolutional neural network framework for the sensor-based time series classification model. We used sensor-based time series dataset, acquired from vehicles equipped with sensors, and the Wafer dataset, acquired from manufacturing process. Moreover, we used Cycle Signal dataset, acquired from real world mechanical equipment, and for Data augmentation methods, scaling and jittering were used to train our deep learning models. In addition, our proposed classification models are convolutional neural network based models, FCN, 1D-CNN, and ResNet, to compare evaluations for each model. Our experimental results show that the ResNet provides promising results in the context of time series classification with accuracy and F1 Score reaching 95%, improved by 3% compared to the previous study. Furthermore, we propose XAI methods, Class Activation Map and Layer Visualization, to interpret the experiment result. XAI methods can visualize the time series interval that shows important factors for sensor data classification.

This study proposes an automatic method to generate 3D building models using a draft map, which is an intermediate product generated during the map generation process based on aerial photos. The proposed method is to generate a terrain model, roof models, and wall models sequentially from the limited 3D information extracted from an existing draft map. Based on the planar fitting error of the roof corner points, the roof model is generated as a single planar facet or a multiple planar structure. The first type is derived using a robust estimation method while the second type is constructed through segmentation and merging based on a triangular irregular network. Each edge of this roof model is then projected to the terrain model to create a wall facet. The experimental results from its application to real data indicates that the building models of various shapes in wide areas are successfully generated. The proposed method is evaluated to be an cost and time effective method since it utilizes the existing data.
