Recently, the demand for a 3D urban spatial information infrastructure for storing, operating, and analyzing a large number of digital data produced in cities is increasing. CityGML is a 3D spatial information data standard of OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium), which has strengths in the exchange and attribute expression of city data. Cases of constructing 3D urban spatial data in CityGML format has emerged on several cities such as Singapore and New York. However, the current ecosystem for the creation and editing of CityGML data is limited in constructing CityGML data on a large scale because of lack of completeness compared to commercial programs used to construct 3D data such as sketchup or 3d max. Therefore, in this study, a method of constructing CityGML data is proposed using commercial 3D mesh data and 2D polygons that are rapidly and automatically produced through aerial LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) or RGB (Red Green Blue) cameras. During the data construction process, the original 3D mesh data was geometrically transformed so that each object could be expressed in various CityGML LoD (Levels of Detail), and attribute information extracted from the 2D spatial information data was used as a supplement to increase the utilization as spatial information. The 3D city features produced in this study are CityGML building, bridge, cityFurniture, road, and tunnel. Data conversion for each feature and property construction method were presented, and visualization and validation were conducted.
Purpose: We generated geospatial information of unmanned aerial vehicle based on various SW and analyzed the location accuracy of orthoimage and DSM and texture mapping of 3D mesh. Method: The same unmanned aerial image data is processed using two different SW, and spatial information is generated. Among the generated spatial information, the orthoimage and DSM were compared with the spatial information generation results of the unmanned aerial photogrammetry SW by performing quantitative analysis by calculating RMSE of horizontal position and vertical position error and performing qualitative analysis. Results: There were no significant differences in the positional accuracy of the orthoimage and DSM generated by each SW, and differences in texture mapping in 3D mesh. The creation of the 3D mesh indicated the impact of the Unmanned Aerial Photogrammetry SW. Conclusion: It is shown that there is no effect of SW on the creation of orthoimage and DSM for geospatial analysis based on unmanned aerial vehicle. However, when 3D visualization is performed, texture mapping results are different depending on SW.

Mines are an important infrastructure for securing resources, but safety problems can arise in the course of operation. Recently, the mining process is very complicated due to the large scale and mechanization. Therefore, it is necessary to construct accurate geospatial information on mine for systematic and safe mine operation. The geospatial information construction using the existing total station has a disadvantage that a lot of work time is required because the target must be collimated and measured. In this study, the data of the mines were acquired with the total station and the 3D laser scanner, and the mine spatial information was constructed by using the shape based registration method. By using the static scanner data of some area applying the reference point surveying result of the total station, it was possible to construct the accurate result on the wide area acquired by the mobile scanner effectively. Also, the accuracy of the constructed geospatial information was evaluated and the deviation of mean 0.083m was shown. Point cloud products constructed through the research can contribute to the efficiency improvement of mine management by enabling quantitative analysis such as visualization of mine shape, distance, area and slope, and automation of drawing creation for cross section shape.

As buildings in the downtown area, such as the complex building connected to the skyscraper and the underground facility, have become large and complex, the range of target domain of the space information service is rapidly expanding to the interior space; it is considered that this change will create various demands of service such as the indoor geospatial information base safety, the management of facility, and the interior navigation in the future, along with spread of mobile devices and development of IT technology. As for the indoor geospatial information, however, there is no certification standard of the established indoor geospatial information data quality, so preparing the certification standard is urgent. Thus, this study reviewed foreign and domestic research cases and prepared measures for quality verification of the indoor geospatial information to conduct a verification test of the Yeongdeungpo Station indoor geospatial information, established in 2014. As a result, through the verification test of the method and standard of the indoor geospatial information quality certification suggested by this research, it was identified that the uniform and higher quality data could be classified, and the types of error high frequently occurring could be investigated. These results are expected to be utilized as the basic data for establishing quality certification system for the indoor geospatial information in the future.

In recent years, as the number of ground subsidence has increased nationwide, the latest and usefulness of underground information for underground space development and underground safety management has become more important than ever. However, the 3D Underground Geospatial Map project, which started in 2015, has a problem with the manual-based long-term update system. This research paper overcomes these limitations and automatically updates the 3D CAD/GIS-based integrated management of underground structures that can be managed automatically from a full-cycle perspective of underground structure data management such as processing, transformation, updating, management, and visualization of 2D/3D underground structure data. If this technology is applied, it is possible to integrate processing and update management of the existing complex 3D construction logic of underground structures in one system, and it is expected that it can be used for underground space development and underground safety management as a foundation technology for automatic update of underground structures data.

Geospatial information data came recently in use to build the location-based service in various fields. These data were shown via a 2-D map in the past but now can be viewed as a 3-D map due to the dramatic evolution of IT technology, thus improving efficiency and raising practicality to a greater extent by providing a more realistic visualization of the field. In addition, many previous GIS applications have been provided under desktop environment, limiting access from remote sites and reducing its approachability for less experienced users. The latest trend offers service with web-based environment, providing efficient sharing of data to all users, both unknown and specific internal users. Therefore, real-time information sensors that have been installed on steep slopes are to be integrated with 3-D geospatial information in this study. It is also to be developed with web-based environment to improve usage and access. There are three steps taken to establish this system: firstly, a 3-D GIS database and 3-D terrain with higher resolution aerial photos and DEM (Digital Elevation Model) have been built; secondly, a system architecture was proposed to integrate real-time sensor information data with 3D Web-based GIS; thirdly, the system has been constructed for Gangwon Province as a test bed to verify the applicability.

Around the world, there is an increasing interest in Digital Twin cities. Although geospatial data is critical for building a digital twin city, currently-established spatial data cannot be used directly for its implementation. Integration of geospatial data is vital in order to construct and simulate the virtual space. Existing studies for data integration have focused on data transformation. The conversion method is fundamental and convenient, but the information loss during this process remains a limitation. With this, standardization of the data model is an approach to solve the integration problem while hurdling conversion limitations. However, the standardization within indoor space data models is still insufficient compared to 3D building and city models. Therefore, in this study, we present a comparative analysis of data models commonly used in indoor space modeling as a basis for establishing a generic indoor space feature model. By comparing five models of IFC (Industry Foundation Classes), CityGML (City Geographic Markup Language), AIIM (ArcGIS Indoors Information Model), IMDF (Indoor Mapping Data Format), and OmniClass, we identify essential elements for modeling indoor space and the feature classes commonly included in the models. The proposed generic model can serve as a basis for developing further indoor feature models through specifying minimum required structure and feature classes.
The needs for digital models of real environment such as 3D terrain or cyber city model are increasing. Most of applications related with modeling and simulation require virtual environment constructed from geospatial information of real world in order to guarantee reliability and accuracy of the simulation. The most fundamental data for building virtual environment, terrain elevation and orthogonal imagery is acquired from optical sensor of satellite or airplane. Providing interoperable and reusable digital model is important to promote practical application of high-resolution satellite imagery. This paper presents the new research regarding representation of geospatial information, especially for 3D shape and appearance of virtual terrain, and describe framework for constructing real-time 3D model of large terrain based on high-resolution satellite imagery. It provides infrastructure of 3D simulation with geographical context. Details of standard-based approach for providing infrastructure of real-time 3D simulation using high-resolution satellite imagery are also presented. This work would facilitate interchange and interoperability across diverse systems and be usable by governments, industry scientists and general public.

Mining is important as a national key industry that supplies energy and raw materials that are the basis for industrial development. On the other hand, mine development is necessarily accompanied by mineralization, for example, ground subsidence, heavy metal pollution, and water pollution. The mine hazard has a large range of damage, and it takes much time and cost to recover. In addition, there is a need for systematic mining management in order to prevent damages from occurring continuously. In this study, the present status of domestic mining industry and geospatial information construction technology for mining management were investigated. 95% of the mines surveyed were nonmetallic, and limestone mines accounted for 67%, and the constructed mine spatial information is not constructed with 3D geospatial information due to 2D current status, section, and geological map. Considering the results of the survey and analysis of 3D laser scanner and characteristics of Korean mine, handheld scanner is considered to be the most suitable method for constructing mine geospatial information. In addition, the data acquired through the 3D laser scanner can effectively visualize the object, and it can contribute to the systematic management of mining because it can be used for various purposes such as generation of drawings and calculation of volume.
