This study explores and selects an appropriate material that considers light and soft physical properties as well as activity for impact absorption pads that can be used to develop practical impact protective clothes worn during daily life by the elderly to reduce the impact of falls. Physical properties, impact absorption performance, and compression characteristics were evaluated on 5 types of foam, 2 types of 3D spacer fabric, and 3 types of polymer gel to select a material appropriate for the pad to be inserted into impact protective clothes. The evaluation of the physical properties showed that 3D spacer fabrics had lower density compared to other materials and polymer gels had the highest density. The elongation percentage was higher in foams than 3D spacer fabrics and EPDM foam had the highest elongation percentage. The impact absorption performance of honeycomb polymer gel was better than foams and 3D spacer fabrics. As a result of looking into compression energy and compression characteristics of materials, 'CR foam A' was found to absorb the largest amount of compression energy, 24.1%, among foams and polymer gels. A high energy absorption rate of 50.0% (or above) was indicated by 3D spacer fabrics; however, foams and polymer gels showed a progressive deformation of energy compression / recovery curve with 3D spacer fabrics that showed drastic deformation. Based on characteristics of materials, 'CR foam C' and EPDM with relatively high absorption performance can be used as protective pad materials among foams. Among polymer gels, 2 open-type polymer gels that have relatively low impact protective performance but a relatively lighter weight on human body (compared to closed-type) are considered appropriate protective pad materials.

In lieu of section profile data, a fitting of the bored tunnel shape is more significant confirmation for maintenance of a tunnel. Before the permit on the completion of a tunnel, deformation of the completed tunnel with respect to the design model are considered. And deformation can be produced at continuously along the entire of the tunnel section. This study firstly includes an analysis of algebraic approach and test it with an observed field data. And then a number of methods, line search method, genetic algorithm, and pattern search methods, are compared with the 3D tunnel shape fitting. Algebraic methods can solve a simple circular cylinder type as like a railway tunnel. However, a more complex model (compound circular curve and non circular) as like a highway tunnel has to be solved with soft computing tools in the cause of conditional constraints. The genetic algorithm and pattern search methods are computationally more intensive, but they are more flexible at a complex condition. The line search method is fastest, but it needs a narrow bounds of the initial values.
Lines of non-extension (LoNEs) on torso surface during arm abduction were investigated to provide appropriate location for inserting less-extensible yarns which can be used as seams for design and or clothing pressure variation. As experimental methods, reference points about 3 cm apart were marked on the skin and scanned at 30, $90^{\circ}$ and $135^{\circ}$ arm abduction. Skin deformation was measured by connecting reference points in horizontal, vertical and various angles of diagonal directions. Observation of skin deformation was made within the separated sections of the torso as well as integrated ones to cover the various occasions of design application. LoNEs of front and back torso were provided as mapping lines. Actual compression wear of three types was constructed with different pattern reduction rate at each separated section using LoNEs as boundary cutting lines. Clothing pressure and subjective evaluations of those three compression wear were evaluated by six subjects. LoNEs found in this study were useful as seam lines to differentiate clothing pressure at each part of the body, providing positive wear sensation. It is also expected that LoNEs can be paths for less strechable conductive yarns of IT-integrated upper garments.

Three-point bending fatigue properties of austenitic 304 stainless steel sheets were investigated at room temperature and LNG temperature($-162^{\circ}C$) in the strain range from 0.43 to $1.7\%$. The fatigue properties at $-162^{\circ}C$ were superior to those at room temperature due to the higher volume fractions of deformation-induced martensite. The cyclic hardening behavior owing to the deformation- induced martensite transformation was detected in both specimens. In room temperature testing, the mean load amplitude increased steadily with cycles, meaning that cumulative plastic incubation strain was required for martensite transformation. On the contrary, in $-162^{\circ}C$ tested specimen, the mean load amplitude increased rapidly within a few cycles due to the rapid transformation of martensite, and slightly decreased after the maximum is reached probably due to dynamic recovery.
Purpose: This study compares the deformation of traditional resin dentures to resin dentures printed with digital light processing (DLP). Methods: Eleven edentulous research models were developed. Ten of them were made with traditional resin dentures. The remaining one was prepared for scanning and 3D (three-dimensional) printing. Ten traditional resin dentures were made, with the remaining artificial teeth created using 3D software and a DLP printer. Traditional resin dentures, 3D printed resin denture artificial teeth, and a denture base with artificial teeth were all cleaned simultaneously in an ultrasonic cleaner for 3 minutes. Three groups were assigned four artificial tooth measurement points, which were then measured with digital calipers. The measured data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The significance test was conducted using a nonparametric test Kruskal-Wallis test due to the small number of specimens (α=0.05). Results: The traditional resin dentures had the lowest strain rate at -0.04%, while the group that manufactured only artificial teeth had the highest strain rate at -0.09%. However, no statistically significant difference was observed between the 3 groups (p>0.05). Conclusion: During ultraviolet-type ultrasonic cleaning, traditional resin dentures (TD group) and denture base with artificial teeth made of DLP (DD group) demonstrated stable durability, whereas the artificial teeth made of DLP (AD group) with only artificial teeth did not show a good deformation rate.
Purpose: Currently advanced in Dental CAD/CAM technology increase a use of Co-Cr sinter metal block at Dental CAD/CAM part traditionally it has been being used with metal casting method. There is an advantage that can leave out a step of investment and casting as well as reducing a working time to compare with conventional casting method in a dry milling. Methods: In this research, compare a deformation of before and after sinter result of Co-Cr sinter metal block. Design a specimen figure by 3D CAD software and transformed it to a STL file can be used at Dental CAD/CAM. With a transformed STL file, milled a Co-Cr sinter metal specimen by using a Dental CAD/CAM dry milling machine. It arrived at the following conclusions after measuring an outer form and thickness of a machined specimen and then after sinter measure it again in a way of before sinter measurement method. Results: It is confirmed that there is no error while a 3D design figure specimen is transformed to a Dental CAD data. It is observed that there is no error at Co-Cr sinter metal specimen which consider a length of single coping and bridge. Conclusion: It is observed that there is no deformation at a specimen of AS05 and AB05 are made of 0,5mm thickness. On the other hand, the out of range of deformation is observed at a specimen of AS10 and AB10 which are made of 1mm thickness.
A new refined hyperbolic shear and normal deformation beam theory is developed to study the free vibration and buckling of functionally graded (FG) sandwich beams under various boundary conditions. The effects of transverse shear strains as well as the transverse normal strain are taken into account. Material properties of the sandwich beam faces are assumed to be graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power-law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of the constituents. The core layer is still homogeneous and made of an isotropic material. Equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle. Analytical solutions for the bending, free vibration and buckling analyses are obtained for simply supported sandwich beams. Illustrative examples are given to show the effects of varying gradients, thickness stretching, boundary conditions, and thickness to length ratios on the bending, free vibration and buckling of functionally graded sandwich beams.
Previous studies for soil movements induced by tunneling have primarily focused on the free soil displacements. However, the stiffness of existing structures is expected to alter tunneling-induced ground movements, the sheltering influences for underground structures should be included. Furthermore, minimal attention has been given to the settings for the shield machine's operation parameters during the process of tunnels crossing above and below existing tunnels. Based on the Shanghai railway project, the soil movements induced by an earth pressure balance (EPB) shield considering the sheltering effects of existing tunnels are presented by the simplified theoretical method, the three-dimensional finite element (3D FE) simulation method, and the in-situ monitoring method. The deformation prediction of existing tunnels during complex traversing process is also presented. In addition, the deformation controlling safety measurements are carried out simultaneously to obtain the settings for the shield propulsion parameters, including earth pressure for cutting open, synchronized grouting, propulsion speed, and cutter head torque. It appears that the sheltering effects of underground structures have a great influence on ground movements caused by tunneling. The error obtained by the previous simplified methods based on the free soil displacements cannot be dismissed when encountering many existing structures.

The bending and buckling behaviours of FG-GRNC laminated sandwich plates are investigated by using novel five-variables quasi 3D higher order shear deformation plate theory by considering the modified continuum nonlocal strain gradient theory. To calculate the effective Young's modulus of the GRNC sandwich plate along the thickness direction, and Poisson's ratio and mass density, the modified Halpin-Tsai model and the rule of the mixture are employed. Based on a new field of displacement, governing equilibrium equations of the GRNC sandwich plate are solved using a developed approach of Galerkin method. A detailed parametric analysis is carried out to highlight the influences of length scale and material scale parameters, GPLs distribution pattern, the weight fraction of GPLs, geometry and size of GPLs, the geometry of the sandwich plate and the total number of layers on the stresses, deformation and critical buckling loads. Some details are studied exclusively for the first time, such as stresses and the nonlocality effect.

The main objective of this research work is to present analytical solutions for the thermoelastic bending analysis of sandwich plates made of functionally graded materials with an arbitrary gradient. The governing equations of equilibrium are solved for a functionally graded sandwich plates under the effect of thermal loads. The transverse shear and normal strain and stress effects on thermoelastic bending of such sandwich plates are considered. Field equations for functionally graded sandwich plates whose deformations are governed by either the shear deformation theories or the classical theory are derived. Displacement functions that identically satisfy boundary conditions are used to reduce the governing equations to a set of coupled ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients. The results of the shear deformation theories are compared together. Numerical results for deflections and stresses of functionally graded metal-ceramic plates are investigated.
