A Research on AI Generated 2D Image to 3D Modeling Technology

  • Advancements in generative AI are reshaping graphic and 3D content design landscapes, where AI not only enriches graphic design but extends its reach to 3D content creation. Though 3D texture mapping through AI is advancing, AI-generated 3D modeling technology in this realm remains nascent. This paper presents AI 2D image-driven 3D modeling techniques, assessing their viability in 3D content design by scrutinizing various algorithms. Initially, four OBJ model-exporting AI algorithms are screened, and two are further evaluated. Results indicate that while AI-generated 3D models may not be directly usable, they effectively capture reference object structures, offering substantial time savings and enhanced design efficiency through manual refinements. This endeavor pioneers new avenues for 3D content creators, anticipating a dynamic fusion of AI and 3D design.

  • 스테레오스코픽 3D 입체영상은 좌/우 영상의 시차(視差)를 이용하여 시청자로 하여금 2D 영상에서 느낄 수 없었던 가상의 입체감을 느낄 수 있도록 한다. 이러한 가상의 입체감은 주로 좌/우 영상의 수평시차를 통해서 구현되며, 수평시차의 많고 적음에 의하여 피사체의 원근(遠近)이 조절된다. 시차가 지나치게 작을 경우 3D 입체영상은 2D와 다를 바 없이 평면으로 보이거나, 피사체의 볼륨감이 사라져서 종이인형들이 단순히 층을 나뉘어서 배열된 것처럼 보이게 된다. 반대로 시차가 지나치게 클 경우 좌/우 영상은 하나로 융합되어 입체감을 형성하지 못하고 이중상으로 관측되게 된다. 이렇듯 3D 입체영상에서 수평시 차의 크기는 핵심적인 기능을 수행하고 있음에도, 프로그램 제작시 적절한 시차를 결정하는 판단기준이 부족하며 최대 시차에 대한 기준도 모호하여, 촬영자나 컴퓨터 그래픽스 작업자의 감(感)에 의하여 입체영상 콘텐츠 제작이 이루어지고 있어, 고품질 3D 영상 제작의 장애요인이 되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 NPP(Native Pixel Parallax) 계산을 바탕으로 입체영상의 시차는 스크린 크기별로 달라질 수 있음을 살펴보고, 좌/우 영상의 시차가 가상깊이로 환산되는 과정을 분석하여, 3D 방송에 적합한 최대 시차를 제안하고자 한다.

Design of STEAM Education Process applying 3D Printer for Computational Thinking

  • Many practitioners in educational field, recently, are seeking to improve Computational Thinking through SW education. The purpose of this paper was, for promotion of SW education, to design the STEAM education process utilizing 3D printer. The project-based education process emphasized the cooperation in the process of producing common results and proposed a new STEAM education process. The designed products are expected to be used in the elementary school classes by linking with the camp and teacher training programs and the curriculum.

One-to-All Broadcasting of Even Networks for One-Port and All-Port Models

  • Broadcasting is one of the most important communication primitives used in multiprocessor networks. In this letter, we demonstrate that the broadcasting algorithm proposed by Madabhushi and others is incorrect. We introduce efficient one-to-all broadcasting schemes of even networks for one-port and all-port models. The broadcasting time of the one-port model is 2d-3 and that of the all-port model is d-1. The total time steps taken by the proposed algorithms are optimal.

  • 본 논문에서는 비대칭적 화질을 갖는 스테레오 3DTV 시스템에서 좌우 두 영상의 화질차이가 합성한 스테레오 3D 영상의 주관적 화질을 떨어뜨릴 정도로 현저한 경우, 이 화질 차이를 보상하기 위하여 조건부 대체를 포함한 양안시차 맵을 이용하는 방법을 제안한다. PSNR값 비교를 통하여 화질 개선 정도를 보았고 0.37~18dB 정도의 PSNR 개선을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 정밀한 3차원 복원 및 시점 합성을 위해 매칭 비용을 반복적으로 업데이트하는 Generalized Soft 3D Reconstruction (GenSoft3D) 알고리즘을 제안한다. 먼저 다시점 영상들과 카메라 자세정보가 주어지면 GenSoft3D는 볼륨 기반의 다시점 스테레오 매칭 알고리즘으로 시점별 초기 매칭 비용 볼륨 및 시차 맵을 계산한다. 그 후 정제 과정에서 각 시점은 모든 시차 맵을 이용하여 표면 확률 및 가시 확률을 계산한다. 표면 확률은 초기 매칭 비용 업데이트에 사용하며, 가시 확률은 폐색 영역의 정확한 시차를 계산하기 위해 사용된다. 해당 정제 과정을 일정 횟수 반복할 경우 시점별 고정밀의 시차 맵 획득이 가능하다. 또한 시차 맵의 정확도가 향상됨에 따라 정확한 시점 합성이 가능하다.

  • Due to the large-scale TV display, the convergence of broadcasting and broadband, and the advancement of signal compression and transmission technology, terrestrial digital broadcasting has evolved into UHD broadcasting capable of providing simultaneous broadcasting of fixed UHD and mobile HD. The Korean standard for terrestrial UHDTV broadcasting is based on ATSC 3.0, the broadcasting standard of North America. The terrestrial UHDTV broadcasting standard chose that as a new AV codec standard, HEVC video codec which can compress with higher efficiency compared to AVC, and MPEG-H 3D audio codec for realistic audio. Also, DASH and MMT are adopted as transmission format instead of MPEG-2 TS to support broadband as well as broadcasting network, and in order to provide 4K UHD/mobile HD service simultaneously ROUTE multiplexing technology is applied. In this paper, we propose an audio/video encoder, which is required to provide HDR/WCG supported high quality video service, 10.2 channel/4 object supporting stereo sound service, fixed UHD and mobile HD simultaneous broadcasting service based on ATSC3.0, also we implemented the ATSC 3.0 LDM system for ROUTE/DASH packager, multiplexing system and physical layer transmission/reception, and verified the service ability by applying it to real time broadcast environment.

  • This research entailed the production of stereoscopic 3D (S3D) contents using 2D-to-S3D conversion for exhibition at a museum and subjective evaluation. Hybrid production combining S3D images of existing live-action videos using the 2D-to-S3D conversion technology and computer graphic ones created via stereo rendering was conducted. Design and control of the chronological analysis of the parallactic angle was conducted on the produced contents, using binocular information as well as subjective evaluations, with the intent of conducting an investigation on the characteristics of such contents from the perspectives of the producers and viewers. An investigation was also conducted on the effects of the viewing position on the impressions of the S3D images.

  • This paper aims to describe the basic structure of novel object-based 3D audio broadcasting system To overcome current uni-directional audio broadcasting services, the object-based 3D audio broadcasting system is designed for providing the ability to interact with important audio objects as well as realistic 3D effects based on the MPEG-4 standard. The system is composed of 6 sub-modules. The audio input module collects the background sound object, which is recored by 3D microphone, and audio objects, which are recorded by monaural microphone or extracted through source separation method. The sound scene authoring module edits the 3D information of audio objects such as acoustical characteristics, location, directivity and etc. It also defines the final sound scene with a 3D background sound, which is intended to be delievered to a receiving terminal by producer. The encoder module encodes scene descriptors and audio objects for effective transmission. The decoder module extracts scene descriptors and audio objects from decoding received bistreams. The sound scene composition module reconstructs the 3D sound scene with scene descriptors and audio objects. The 3D sound renderer module maximizes the 3D sound effects through adapting the final sound to the listner's acoustical environments. It also receives the user's controls on audio objects and sends them to the scene composition module for changing the sound scene.

  • 3DTV 방송은 사실감과 현장감을 내포한 콘텐츠를 획득, 압축 및 전송을 통하여 시청자가 실감 인터페이스를 이용해 상호작용을 하면서 3차원 입체 콘텐츠를 자연스럽게 몰입하여 즐기도록 하는 차세대 방송기술로서 선진 각국에서는 이미 활발한 투자와 연구를 진행하고 있으며[1] 미국, 일본 등에서는 3D 영화, 3DTV 등 관련 서비스가 상용화되기 시작하였다. 본 고에서는 3DTV의 본격적인 서비스 도입을 위하여 필수적으로 요구되는 3DTV 방송기술 표준화 및 각국 방송서비스 현황을 살펴본다.
