A Study on Image Noise Reduction Technique for Low Light Level Environment (저조도 환경의 영상 잡음제거 기술에 관한 연구)

  • Recent advance of digital camera results in that image signal processing techniques are widely adopted to railroad security management. However, due to the nature of railroad management many images are acquired in low light level environment such as night scenes. The lack of light causes lots of noise in the image, which degrades image quality and causes errors in the next processes. 3D noise reducing techniques produce better results by using consecutive sequence of images. On the other hand, they cause degradation such as motion blur if there are motions in the sequence. In this paper, we use an adaptive weight filter to estimate more accurate motions and use the result of the adaptive filter to 3D result to improve objective and subjective mage quality.

Analysis of De-noising by Thresholding (문턱치에 따른 잡음제거 분석)

  • Electrocardiogram(ECG) signal noise as well as conducting other bio-signal measurement were generated. It was intened to enhance the accuracy of cadiac disease diagnosis with removing signal white-noise. Sampling signal was made with generating white-noise. The noise were removed using wavelet transforms and thresholding. Removed noise were compared numerical using SNR(signal to noise ratio). The results compared SNR showed that SURE method was 5.931, 4.9301 in 3, 5dB noise, uninversal was 3.6590, 1.9698 in 7, 9dB noise. De-noising by Thresholding removed noise effectively. ECG signal is expected to improve the accuracy of cadiac desease dianosis.

Spatio-Temporal 3D Joint Noise Reduction Filter (시공간 3차원 결합 잡음제거 필터)

  • Noise in image sequences is visually offensive and may mask important image detail. In addition to degradation of visual quality, the noise pattern increases the entropy of the image, and thus hinders effective compression. This paper proposes a spatial and a temporal joint filters to reduce the noise by jointly connecting two adaptive noise reducers with different characteristics, and we also propose an IIR-type 3D noise reduction litter scheme connecting the spatial and the temporal joint filters. The proposed 3D IIR filter not only strongly removes noise in uniform image regions while preserving edges and details but also effectively suppresses temporal flicker caused by noise. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme improves subjective quality as well as objective quality as compared with the various noise filtering techniques.

  • In this paper, it is studied to remove the baseline wander and to minimize the distortion of ST segment in the noise filtering of ECG. In general, the standard filter and adaptive filter are used to remove the baseline wander of the ECG. But the standard filter is limited because the frequency of the baseline signal is variable and the apative filter is difficult to select the reference signal in case of using the adaptive filter. So we proposed a new method of the structure without reference signal using neural networks. To be convinced of the performance of this method, we used ECG data of MIT-BIHs. and obtained the result of the high performance,(-53.3[dB]) than standard filter(-16.3[dB]) and adaptive filter (-44.9[dB]).

  • This paper proposes a boundary artifacts reduction method for synthesized views in 3D video system using Projection onto Convex Sets (POCS). In 3D video system, boundary artifacts are occurred in synthesized views by distorted depth map. In this paper, we analyze boundary artifacts, and show the experimental results by the proposed algorithm on various situations.

  • 최근 적외선 열 영상의 유용함이 발표되어감에 따라 이 기술에 대한 이해와 도입폭이 점진적으로 넓혀져 가고 있다. 국내는 물론 세계적으로 많은 제조, 개발 관련 업체들이 생겨나고 있으며, 업체들의 기술이 발전함에 따라 높은 온도 분해능과 해상도는 물론, 시스템 전체의 크기가 휴대가 가능할 정도로 소형화 되어가고 있는 추세이다. 이러한 열 영상 카메라에서 중요한 역할을 하는 적외선 열 감지 센서에서는 주변 온도, 대상 온도, 표면 온도 등의 측정 오차 및 열상 측정 소자의 온도, Bias 불안정 등의 매우 다양한 원인으로 인한 잡음이 발생하기 쉽다. 이러한 다양한 잡음의 감소는 해상도 및 온도 분해능의 향상과 직결되므로, 잡음을 줄이기 위한 많은 연구가 도처에서 행해지고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 노력의 일환으로써 각각의 잡음 원인을 규명하지 않고 최종 열 영상 출력물에서 인접 프레임들의 비교, 혼합 하여 제거하는 3D Noise Reduction 기술을 이용해 노이즈를 감쇠하는 방법에 대해 연구하였다.

Image Denoising Using Nonlocal Similarity and 3D Filtering (비지역적 유사성 및 3차원 필터링 기반 영상 잡음제거)

  • Denoising which is one of major research topics in the image processing deals with recovering the noisy images. Natural images are well known not only for their local but also nonlocal similarity. Patterns of unique edges and texture which are crucial for understanding the image are repeated over the nonlocal region. In this paper, a nonlocal similarity based denoising algorithm is proposed. First for every blocks of the noisy image, nonlocal similar blocks are gathered to construct a overcomplete data set which are inherently sparse in the transform domain due to the characteristics of the images. Then, the sparse transform coefficients are filtered to suppress the non-sparse additive noise. Finally, the image is recovered by aggregating the overcomplete estimates of each pixel. Performance experiments with several images show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional methods in removing the additive Gaussian noise effectively while preserving the image details.

Boundary Artifacts Reduction in View Synthesis of 3D Video System (3차원 비디오의 합성영상 경계 잡음 제거)

  • This paper proposes an efficient method to remove the boundary artifacts of rendered views caused by damaged depth maps in the 3D video system. First, characteristics of boundary artifacts with the compression noise in depth maps are carefully studied. Then, the artifacts suppression method is proposed by the iterative projection onto convex sets (POCS) algorithm with setting the convex set in pixel and frequency domain. The proposed method is applied to both texture and depth maps separately during view rendering. The simulation results show the boundary artifacts are greatly reduced with improving the quality of synthesized views.

  • 본 논문은 잡음 환경에서의 음성인식을 위하여 음성에 부가된 잡음을 제거하는 방법으로 프레임 단위로 웨이브렛 변환 영역의 표준편차를 활용하여 시간 적응적 임계값을 사용하는 새로운 방법을 제안한다. 웨이브렛 변환영역의 cD1과 cA3의 표준편차 값을 이용하여 임계값을 설정함으로써 음성의 변화에 적응할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 묵음구간의 잔여 잡음을 제거하기 위한 방법을 제안하였다. 실험을 통하여 제안한 방법이 기존의 웨이브렛 변환과 웨이브렛 패킷 변환을 이용한 잡음제거 방법보다 SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio)과 MSE(Mean Squared Error) 측면에서 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

Detection Based - Adaptive Windowed Nonlinear Filters for Removal of One-Side Impulse Noise in Infrared Image (적외선 영상의 단측형 충격잡음 제거를 위한 검출기반 적응윈도우 비선형 필터)

  • In this paper, detection based - adaptive windowed nonlinear filters(DB-AWNF) are proposed for removing one-side impulse noise in infrared image. They are composed of impulse detector and window-size-variable median filters. Impulse detector checks whether current pixel is impulse or not using range function and nonlinear location estimator. If impulse is detected, current pixel is filtered according to four kinds of local masks by use of median filter. If not. current pixel is delivered to output like identity filter. In qualitative view, the proposed could have removed heavy corrupted noise up to $20\%$ and reserved the details of image. In quantitative view, PSNR was measured. The proposed could have 13 - 31[dB] more improved performance than those of median($3{\times}3$) filter and 18 - 25[dB] more improved performance than those of median($5{\times}5$) filter.
