This paper proposes a novel quadrature VCO(QVCO) based on direct back-gate second harmonic coupling. The QVCO directly couples the current sources of the conventional LC VCOs through the back-gate instead of front-gate to generate quadrature signals. By the second harmonic injection locking, the two LC VCOs can generate quadrature signals without using on-chip transformer, or stability problem that is inherent in the direct front-gate second harmonic coupling. The proposed QVCO is implemented in $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology operating at 2 GHz with 5.0 mA core current consumption from 1.8 V power supply. The measured phase noise of the proposed QVCO is - 63 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz offset, -95 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset, and -116 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from the 2 GHz output frequency, respectively. The calculated figure of merit(FOM) is about -174 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. The measured image band rejection is 46 dB which corresponds to the phase error of $0.6^{\circ}$.

The nuclear safety assessment involving large transient simulations is forcing the community to develop methods for coupling thermal-hydraulics and neutronic codes and three-dimensional (3D) Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) codes. In this paper a set of dynamic boundary conditions are implemented in OpenFOAMⓇ in order to apply zero-dimensional (0D) approaches coupling with 3D thermal-hydraulic simulation in a single framework. This boundary conditions are applied to model pipelines, tanks, pumps, and heat exchangers. On a first stage, four tests are perform in order to assess the implementations. The results are compared with experimental data, full 3D CFD, and system code simulations, finding a general good agreement. The semi-implicit implementation nature of these boundary conditions has shown robustness and accuracy for large time steps. Finally, an application case, consisting of a simplified open pool with a cooling external circuit is solved to remark the capability of the tool to simulate thermal hydraulic systems commonly found in nuclear installations.

In this paper, the effect of a finite substrate on the mutual coupling of a pair of microstrip patch antennas along the H -plane is investigated. The mutual coupling of a pair of microstrip patch antennas can be reduced using the interference effect due to the phase difference by a variety of routes of the surface wave. In the case of the substrate with $\varepsilon_r$=10 and thickness of 3.2 mm, the mutual coupling is reduced by 4.85 dB on the substrate size with the strong mutual coupling, while the mutual coupling is reduced by 34.28 dB on the substrate size with the weak mutual coupling when the distance between the antenna centers is varied from 0.5 $\lambda_0$ to 1.0 $\lambda_0$. In the case of optimization substrate size, the decreasing rate of the mutual coupling with the increase of the distance between the antenna centers is very large. Good agreements between the image method and full wave simulation results are obtained.

In this paper, we proposed a 3 dB coupler using N-section parallel-coupled lines and designed a very compact one based on the analysis results. The coupled line has been analyzed by spectral domain method. After we obtain the s-parameters of N-section parallel-coupled lines by using port reduction method 4-port s-parameters are derived. The 3 dB couplers, which were fabricated, are not necessary to implement high impedance lines and tight coupling gaps as Lange Couplers because loose coupling is used. To realize a minimum section, we used the PCB that has high a dielectric constant and a thickness. The experimental results show that it has wide bandwidth of about 42 %(0.5 dB unbalance) from 3.6 GHz to 5.5 GHz and phase difference within 1 degree. Also, The isolation characteristics about 15 dB at its pass-band are obtained.

In this paper, a periodically corrugated transmission line is proposed. The proposed transmission line can reduce crosstalk between transmission lines. The corrugated transmission line can adjust the amount of inductive coupling and capacitive coupling equally. Thus, the crosstalk is effectively reduced because the inductive coupling and capacitive coupling cancel each other. The corrugated transmission line is fabricated on RO4003 substrate with a dielectric constant of 3.38 and a thickness of 0.508 mm. The simulated far-end crosstalks of conventional transmission line and corrugated transmission line with a period of A=1 mm have maximum values of -3.6 dB and -22 dB, respectively, up to 30 GHz. Measurement results showed that far-end crosstalks of the conventional and corrugated transmission line have maximum values of -6.3 dB and -20.5 dB, respectively, up to 30 GHz.
In this paper, we modeled the incident beam in order to analyze and evaluate the optical thin film device for wavelength division multiplexing in optical telecommunication network. As applied ray tracing method to the optical path, we were compared the accuracy of coupling efficiency simulated by two modeling methods. In the results of sinulation, ceil modeling method was preferred to annual modeling method in micro-optic device because of accuracy for coupling efficiency and Gaussian intensity distribution. In the results of optimal simulation for optical device using thin film filter, the distance (d1) between optical fiber and GRIN lens, the distance (d2) between GRIN lens and thin film filter and the coupling efficiency were 0.24 mm, 0.25 mm and -0.11 ㏈ respectively. As d2 was displaced at 0.25 mm and d1 was varied in order to evaluate the optimal value, d1 and maximum coupling efficiency were 0.24 mm and -0.35㏈, respectively. Then the results of experiment were corresponded to that of optimal simulation by cell modeling and it was possible to analyze the performance for optical device using thin film filter by the simulation.

In this paper, the tunable filter based on high power cavity using mechanical switch for 1.5 GHz band is presented. The LPF is inserted to eliminate the spurious wave, coupler is embeded to extract the output power, and then the tunable filter system is configured using mechanical switch. The LPF obtains attenuation over 40 dB between 4 GHz and 12.75 GHz, Coupler is satisfied with coupling value 40 dB and coupling isolation over 55 dB. The tunable filter system using mechanical switch obtains insertion loss 0.88 dB at bypass mode between 1,495.9 MHz and 1,510. 9 MHz, 3.29 dB at fil mode between 1,495.9 MHz and 1,500.9 MHz. It is also satisfied with output power of 132 W at the center frequency 1,498.4 MHz, and switching time below 10 ms.
Rhombohedral $Ba(Ti_{0.92}Zr_{0.08})O_3$ single crystals are fabricated using the cost-effective solid-state single crystal growth (SSCG) method; their dielectric and piezoelectric properties are also characterized. Measurements show that (001) $Ba(Ti_{0.92}Zr_{0.08})O_3$ single crystals have an electromechanical coupling factor ($k_{33}$) higher than 0.85, piezoelectric charge constant ($d_{33}$) of about 950 [pC/N], and piezoelectric voltage constant ($g_{33}$) higher than 40 [${\times}10^{-3}Vm/N$]. Especially the $d_{33}$ of (001) $Ba(Ti_{0.92}Zr_{0.08})O_3$ single crystals was by about six times higher than that of their ceramics. Because their electromechanical coupling factor ($k_{33}$) and piezoelectric voltage constant ($d_{33}$, $g_{33}$) are higher than those of soft PZT ceramics, it is expected that rhombohedral (001) $Ba(Ti_{0.92}Zr_{0.08})O_3$ single crystals can be used as "lead-free" piezoelectric materials in many piezoelectric applications such as actuator, sensor, and transducer.

In this paper, the directional coupler with half-power division is designed and fabricated by using the vertical coupling structure based on the CPW transmission-line. Even-mode and odd-mode of the vertical coupling structure can be analyzed by the conventional CPW-line and the CBCPW-line, respectively, with half thickness of the substrate. The directional coupler is designed by using the tefron substrate with the dielectric constant of 2.55 and the thickness of 0.76mm. Manufactured directional coupler has the center frequency of 2.45 GHz and the bandwidth of 66.1%. Also, the return loss and isolation are 19.52dB and 19.47dB, respectively, at the center frequency.

In this paper, the internal antenna for mobile communication handset which is able to control both coupling coefficient and resonant frequency without any major modification of radiator and ground plane of antenna. Novel internal antenna with its controllable resonant frequency is presented for triple-band or over mobile handsets. The operating range can include GSM(880~960 MHz), GPS($1,575{\pm}10MHz$), DCS(1,710~1,880MHz), US-PCS(1,850~1,990 MHz), and W-CDMA(1,920~2,170 MHz). The proposed antenna is realized by combination of a half wavelength loaded line antenna and PIFA(Planner Inverted F Antenna). A single shorting and feeding points are used and they are common to both antenna structures. One of two inductors which is placed at each shorting post, one inductor is for adjusts amount of coupling, and the other controlling the resonant frequency in DCS/US-PCS/WCDMA bands. The inductance range for control of input impedance is between 0nH and 6.8nH, and each of gain variation in GSM, GPS and DCS/US-PCS/WCDMA band is under 0.15dBi, 0.73dBi and 0.29dBi. The inductance range for control of the resonant frequency is between 1640MHz and 2500MHz, and each of gain variation in GSM, GPS and DCS/US-PCS/WCDMA band is under 0.46dBi, 0.53dBi and 0.8dBi.
