Effects of walking exercise for wellness convergence in the digital age - Based on physical activity - (디지털 시대에 융복합적인 웰니스를 위한 걷기 운동의 효과 - 신체활동 중심으로 -)

  • The goal of this study was 1) to compare the physical activity between the normal(NO) and obese (OB) group at baseline and 2) to investigate responses of the physical activity to a 24-week walking exercise program in both groups. A total of 29 middle-aged women was classified NO and OB group based on the BMI($25kg/m^2$). Walking exercise was designed to energy expenditure of 500 kcal per day, with a frequence of 3 days per week for 24 weeks. Body composition(Weight, BMI, BF(%), Hip, WHR) were measured at the baseline and after the walking exercise program(24 week). Physical activity were measured during 24 week for wellness convergence in the digital age. In conclusion, the current findings of this study indicate that 1) physical activity is not difference in both groups at baseline 2) 24-week walking exercise program is an effective means of improving physical activity in both NO and OB groups.

  • Anisotropic rotation of $CDCl_3$ in neat liquid is investigated by the analysis of ${\nu}_1$ band of Raman spectrum and the diffusion constant($D_{\perp}$) for the tumbling motion is obtained. The diffusion constant ($D_{II}$) for the spinning motion is obtained from the above $D_{\perp}$ value and the chlorine-35 nuclear quadrupole relaxation time. The diffusion constants thus obtained seem to agree very well with the ones obtained from $^2H$ and $^35C$l in NQR results within experimental errors. The data suggest fairly anisotropic character of reorientational motions in neat $CDCl_3$.

  • 목적: 농촌 지역사회 기반의 허리 근력 강화 운동 프로그램이 운동과 허리 건강에 대한 개인의 태도 및 믿음에 미치는 효과를 평가하고자 하였다. 방법: 강원도 지역 네 개의 농촌 마을에서 가벼운 허리 통증이 있는 79명의 여성 자원자(42-76세)들을 운동군(n=40)과 대조군(n=39)으로 마을단위로 배정하였다. 운동군에서는 지역사회 기반의 허리강화 운동 프로그램(주당 3회, 8주간)이 시행되었고 대조군에는 일반적인 건강 관리에 대한 강의가 제공되었다. 등척성 허리 신전 근력과 허리 통증 관련 장애, 운동에 대한 태도, 허리 질환에 대한 위협인지, 운동의 자기 효능감을 중재전과 중재후 1, 2개월째 측정하였다. 결과: 운동군에서 2개월후 허리 신전근력은 뚜렷이 증가하였으며 허리 통증 관련 장애도 유의미하게 감소하였다. 운동에 대한 태도와 허리 질환에 대한 위협 인지는 운동군에서 증가하였으나 대조군에서는 변화가 없었다. 운동의 자기효능감은 양군에서 같이 증가하였으나 운동군에서 그 정도가 더 뚜렷했다. 결론: 농촌 지역 여성들을 대상으로 한 허리 근력 강화 운동 프로그램은 허리 통증으로 인한 장애를 감소시켰고 운동의 효과에 대한 태도와 믿음을 변화시켰다.

Effect of Glycerol Concentration, Freezing Rate and Thawing Rate on Semen Characteristics in PoongSan-dog (풍산개 정자의 동결보존에 있어서 Glycerol 농도, 동결 및 융해속도가 정자성상에 미치는 영향)

  • This research was carried out in order to establish the production technique for Poong-san dog’s frozen semen, by examining the semen characteristic and the volume of glycerol added to the dilution solution, thawing temperature and sperm motility and viability as well as the motility using CASA according to time variation. Average semen volume was 5.9ml, sperm concentration 116.3×106 sperm/ml, total sperm number 789.3×106 sperm, motility 88.7±1.7% and viability 87.6±7.8%. When it was cryopreservation and thawed at different glycerol concentrated extender, it showed 52.7% motility and 57.7±10.3% viability at 7% glycerol, compared to other treatments. For semen cryogeny, at conditions of 5, 7cm and a height of 10cm for pre-cryogeny and maintaining the semen at 7cm from the surface of liquid nitrogen resulted in profitable motility and viability.

Effects of Regular Treadmill Running on GLUT4 Protein of Skeletal Muscle in STZ-diabetic Rats (STZ-당뇨 흰쥐에서 규칙적인 Treadmill운동이 골격근 제 4 형 당수송체에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of regular treadmill running on GLUT4 protein of skeletal muscle in STZ-diabetic rats. I used 19 male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 140 to 160 grams. Rats were randomly assigned into normal, diabetes(DM) and DE(DE) groups. The exercise was loaded with treadmill running for 5 days per week during 4 weeks. All experimental procedures were carried out following overnight fasting 48 hours after last exercise. Gain(gm) in body weight in DM rats(822.4) was lowered compared to normal rats(1092.8), and decreased by exercise. Plasma glucose concentration(mg/dl) in DM rats was 1433.1 which is higher than that of normal group of 1036.4. The concentration of DE group was lower than that of DM rats. Plasma insulin concentration(${\mu}U/ml$) of DM and DE rats was significantly lowerd compared to normal rats. There was no difference of plasma concentrations of FFA and HDL cholesterol among noraml, DM and DE groups. Plasma triglyceride concentration(mg/dl) was significantly highered in DM group compared to those of DM group, the concentration of DE group was lower. Glycogen concentration(mg/gm wet weight) of the plantaris muscle in DM and DE groups was significantly reduced compared to normal group. Glucose transporter 4(GLUT4) protein of soleus was analyzed by Western blot. In DM group, the GLUT4 protein level was markdly decreased compared to normal group, but the level was recovered to the level of normal group by 4 weeks treadmill running. In conclusion, the insulin resistance induced by STZ administration was partially improved by 4 weeks physical training in rats.

The effects of the mulberry and silkworm intake on androgen receptor mRNA and myogenic regulatory factors expression of rats muscle for resistance exercise (오디와 누에 섭취가 rats의 저항성 운동에 따른 androgen receptor mRNA와 myogenic regulatory factors의 발현에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of supplementation of mulberry powder, mulberry extract and silkworm powder during the 8 weeks of resistance exercise on Androgen receptor(AR) mRNA and Myogenic regulatory factors(MRFs) expression of rats muscle. Fifty males, Sprague-Dawley rat, were randomly divided into 5 groups: CON(control group, n = 10), REG(resistance exercise group, n = 10), MP REG(mulberry powder intake and resistance exercise group, n = 10), ME REG(mulberry extract intake and resistance exercise group, n = 10) and SP REG(silkworm powder intake and resistance exercise group, n = 10). After climbing the ladder without weights during the 1 week of adaptation period, the rats in the resistance exercise group were trained to climb a 0.98-m vertical(80 degree incline) ladder with weights in their tail during 7 weeks(10 times each day, 2 days per week). After exercise, the skeletal muscle was extracted from the flexor hallucis longus. After separating the total ribonucleic acid (RNA) of each group, quantitative polymerase chain reaction was used to analyze RNA quantitatively. AR mRNA and MRFs expression revealed that all of the treated groups had significantly difference. AR mRNA expression increased in ME REG $6.24{\pm}1.85$ and SP REG $9.68{\pm}0.28$ fold compared to CON. Myod mRNA expression increased in MP REG $6.04{\pm}0.47$, ME REG $4.31{\pm}1.58$ and SP REG $8.11{\pm}0.57$ fold compared to CON. And myogenin mRNA expression increased in MP REG $4.11{\pm}0.42$, ME REG $4.12{\pm}0.45$ and SP REG $6.50{\pm}0.61$ fold compared to CON. In conclusion, during the resistance exercise, providing mulberry and silkworm gives positive effect on AR mRNA and MRFs expression increase.

Shell Valve Movement of Pacific Oysters, Crassostrea gigas, in Response to Low Salinity Water (저염수에서 이매패류 참굴(Crassostrea gigas)의 패각운동)

  • We examined the possibility of developing an early monitoring system using the shell valve movement activity of Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas) for early detection of low salinity water in coastal areas. At salinity levels of 30 psu and 20 psu, SVMs were detected $7.32{\pm}3.21times/hr$ and $7.11{\pm}3.90times/hr$, respectively, The patterns and times of SVMs were not significantly different between the two experiment phases. However, at 10 psu and 5 psu, shell valves were observed to be permanently closed in all experiments. Under combined condition (Group 1: temperature $15^{\circ}C$ ${\times}$ salinity 15 psu), SVMs were observed from 20 psu to 30 psu over a 2 - 3 hr period, and then remained closed. In Group 2 (temperature $30^{\circ}C$ ${\times}$ salinity 15 psu), SVMs were observed, which indicated that the physiological condition of the oysters reached a critical point. Thus, it may be possible to utilize SVMs as an early warning signal for low salinity water.

The Effect of Optokinetic Stimulation with Smooth Pursuit Eye Movement to Chronic Hemispatial Neglect: A Pilot Study (완곡 추적 안구운동을 동반한 시운동자극이 만성 편측무시에 미치는 영향 : 예비연구)

  • Objective: This study aim is to identify whether 30minutes optokinetic stimulation(OKS) with smooth pursuit eye movement can alleviate chronic hemispatial neglect. Methods: We applied optokinetic stimulation with smooth pursuit eye movement to 2 chronic hemispatial neglect patients. experimental duration was total 4weeks - 1week baseline, 2weeks OKS intervention, 1week 2nd. baseline. The intervention was 10 OKS sessions (30min each, 1session daily, from Monday to Friday) over a period of 2weeks. The neglect test carried out 3 times a week every other day. The OKS was provided on the screen when patient sat in front of the screen(13.5 inch). The OKS video that the 24 yellow squares moving coherently from the right to the left side. Patients were instructed to perform smooth pursuit eye movement without head and neck movement. Results: As a result of the OKS for 2weeks, the degree of neglect trends to decrease on both 2 cases compared to baseline A. The degree of the neglect of subject 1 tended to increase the at the baseline A. In contrast, the subject 2 showed that tendency that the degree of the neglect declined additionally at the baseline A. Conclusions: We identified that 30 minutes optokinetic stimulation with sooth pursuit eye movement is effective intervention method for chronic hemispatial neglect.

The Effect of Water Exercise on Muscles of the Low-limbs depend on the Depth (수심차이에 따른 수중운동이 하지 근육에 미치는 영향)

  • 연구목적 : 수심 깊이에 따른 수중운동이 하지근력에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법 : 신경근골격계 질환이 없는 여자 10명을 대상으로 하였고, 무작위로 수성 0.7m 그룹과 1.4m 그룹으로 배치하였다. 수중운동은 1회 40분, 주 3회 6주 동안 적용하였다. Ultrasound MyLab25(Esaote, Italy)를 이용하여 하지근육의 우모각과 밀도를 실험전과 후에 측정하였다. 연구결과 : 골격근 구조의 역학적 특성을 나타내는 우모각 변화를 비교한 결과 0.7m 그룹의 오른쪽 넙다리곧은근과 왼쪽 넙다리곧은근, 앞정강근 그리고 장딴지근에서, 1.4m 그룹의 오른쪽 앞정강근과 장딴지근, 왼쪽 넙다리곧은근에서 통계학적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났으나(p<.05), 수심 깊이에 따른 유의한 차이는 없었다(p>.05). 또한, 질적 특성을 나타내는 근육 영상 밀도 변화를 비교한 결과 0.7m 그룹의 오른쪽 넙다리곧은근, 장딴지근과 왼쪽 넙다리곧은근, 앞정강근, 장딴지근에서 1.4m 그룹의 양쪽 넙다리곧은근, 앞정강근, 장딴지근에서 통계학적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났고(p<.05), 특히 1.4m 그룹에서 현저한 증가를 보였으나 수심 깊이에 따른 유의한 차이는 없었다(p>.05). 결론 : 본 연구에서는 수심 차이에 관계없이 수중운동 후 근밀도와 우모각에 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Analysis on mandibular movement using the JT-3D system (JT-3D system을 이용한 하악의 운동 분석)

  • Purpose: This study aims to measure the mandibular movement using JT-3D system and provide a range of mandibular movement that can serve as a good reference for diagnosing the temporomandibular disorder. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in 60 young male and female adults. The maximum opening and closing movement was recorded using JT-3D system, and by regarding 5 times of repetitive movement as 1 cycle of movement, total 3 cycles of movement were recorded. During the maximum opening, vertical position of lower jaw, antero-posterior position, lateral deflection position, and maximum opening distance were recorded. To evaluate the reproducibility of JT-3D system, statistical analysis were conducted (α = 0.05). Results: During the maximum opening, the average value appeared at 31.56 mm vertically and 24.42 mm rearwardly, lateral deflection position 0.72 mm, and maximum opening distance 40.32 mm. There was no statistical significance in all measured values for three cycles of movement recorded with JT-3D system (P > 0.05). Conclusion: During the maximum opening, the average value appeared at 0.72 mm in lateral deflection position and the maximum opening distance at 40.32 mm, and the analysis on the maximum opening of lower jaw using JT-3D system showed sufficiently reproducible results.
