  • The factors related to relapse in 20 skeletal class III patients who performed two-jaw surgery with Le Fort I maxillary osteotomy and bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy was investigated. All patients were fixed with miniplate on the maxilla and three screws at each mandible. Cephalograms taken at preoperative, immediate postoperative and 8 months postoperative after surgery were traced and digitized. 1.The horizontal and vertical relapse of maxilla and mandibular chin points was within 1mm postoperatively. Compare to the preceding report concerning the mandibular set-back surgery only group, this reveals two-jaw surgery for mandibular prognathism using rigid fixation is more stable. 2.Although there was no significant relapse tendancy was observed at chin points, the screw tip land-marks moves anterio-superiorly and each side of the screws moved as a one unit. The screw tip points moved similar direction to the masticatory force and this movements might be influenced by the muscular tension to the distal segment of the mandible. 3.According to the regression analysis, the amount of horizontal and vertical movement of mandibular set-back influenced the mandibular relapse. However, direction and amount of maxillary surgical movement did not inf1uenced the maxillary and mandibular relapse.

  • A dress is commonly designed and worn as a work of art. It is developed through various ways to show the expression of our bodies with functional aspects. Light plays a role in everyday life functionally and aesthetically. We can use the light in many different ways in order to enhance the beauty of the designs. The purpose of this study is to suggest sensible designs with the active expression of light reflection. The designs are especially focused on utilizing light that shows the combination between natural human body's movement and reflection of the light. The use of reflective materials shows the character of movement when it exposes to light. The methods allow to amplify the aesthetic effects of the designs. Reflective materials were used in the resulting design to show the various effects of light by applying the movement which is artistic and aesthetic pleasing aspect for the clothing. The movement is accentuated when the wearer moves, or the air flows through the adding materials on the clothing. In addition, the beads attached to the end of the springs to show the movement of the light. The combination of the spring and the light movement resulted in a dazzling effect. I hope in the future, more studies will be conducted to further use of fiber optics and other innovative ways to use light in fashion.

  • The Galactic center, Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*), is the closest supermassive black hole and emits synchrotron radiation. It provides great opportunity to study the origin of mm/sub-mm emission. Currently, two competing models have been suggested as a jet base and a radiatively inecient accretion flow (RIAF). To unveil the properties, the extremely high resolution(${\sim}10{\mu}as$) corresponding to the projected Schwarzschild radius of ~0.1AU is necessary. With KVN, a jet model can be tested by multi- frequency simultaneous observations because the optically thick surface in a jet (i.e. radio core) moves toward the center at a higher frequency. We conducted 8 observations with KVN at 43/86GHz in 2015, and found that the measured positional shift to the reference calibrator, J1744-3116, was ~0.3 mas to the south of Sgr A* using the source frequency phase referencing (SFPR) at Q/W bands for the first time. With the result, in the future, we will attempt to measure the variation of source position shifts that can constrain the direction of approaching jets and the variability of black hole activity of Sgr A*.

  • The movement of in-situ walls has become very important as construction in large cities moves upward, instead of outward. Tall structures typically have deep excavations not on1y to provide extra space for parking, but also to reduce the potential settlement of the building. These large excavations require a robust bracing system to resist the lateral earth pressures as the depth increases. Methods to predict deflections of the retaining systems are of utmost importance because wall movements allow potentia1 settlement of adjacent structures. Case studies will be analyzed and measured waI1 def1ections will be compared with predictions from empirica1ly derived charts.

  • A neural network with one or more layers of hidden units can be trained using the well-known error back propagation algorithm. According to this algorithm, the synaptic weights of the network are updated during the training by propagating back the error between the expected output and the output provided by the network. However, the error back propagation algorithm is characterized by slow convergence and the time required for training and, in some situation, can be trapped in local minima. A theoretical formulation of a new fast learning method based on tabu search method is presented in this paper. In contrast to the conventional back propagation algorithm which is based solely on the modification of connecting weights of the network by trial and error, the present method involves the calculation of the optimum weights of neural network. The effectiveness and versatility of the present method are verified by the XOR problem. The present method excels in accuracy compared to that of the conventional method of fixed values.

  • The author compared and analysed the roentgenocephalograms of one hundred Korean adults with the normal occlusion (50 males and 50 females), which were taken on the centric occlusion and the rest position of the mandible respectively for every subject, and then researched the relations among the relaxed muscle of the mandible, lightly touched of the lips, and the position just after the swallowing of saliva, of which 38 among 50 males had the rest position of the mandible. The results are as followings: 1. The anterior facial height increases more at the rest position of the mandible than at the centric occlusion, while the posterior facial height decreases. 2. The mandible moves more backward and downward at the rest position of the mandible than at the centric occlusion. 3. The facial procumbency and the incisor tooth inclination increases more at the rest position of the mandible than the centric occlusion in terms of the facial plane. 4. There are no differences between males and females at the rest position of the mandible and the centric occlusion in the meaning of variation. 5. There are no differences among the three methods from the view of lines and angles of the roentgenocephalogram.

  • The smooth handoff supported by the route optimization extension to the mobile IP standard protocol should support a packet buffering mechanism at the base station (BS), in order to reduce the degradation in TCP performance caused by packet losses within mobile network environments. The purpose of packet buffering at the BS is to recover the packets dropped during intersubnetwork handoff by forwarding the packets buffered at the previous BS to the new BS. However, when the mobile host moves to a congested BS within a new foreign subnetwork, the buffered packets forwarded by the previous BS are likely to be dropped. This subsequently causes global synchronization to occur, resulting in the degradation of the wireless link in the congested BS, due to the increased congestion caused by the forwarded burst packets. Thus, in this paper, we propose an implicit priority forwarding (IPF) packet buffering scheme as a solution to this problem within mobile IP based networks. In the proposed IPF method, the previous BS implicitly marks the priority packets being used for inter-subnetwork handoff. Moreover, the proposed modified random early detection (M-RED) buffer at the new congested BS guarantees some degree of reliability to the priority packets. The simulation results show that the proposed IPF packet buffering scheme increases the wireless link utilization and, thus, it enhances the TCP throughput performance in the context of various intersubnetwork handoff cases.

  • In this study an automatic rolling-coil labeling system using robot vision system and peripheral mechanism is proposed and implemented, which instead of the manual labor to attach labels Rolling-coils in a steel mill. The binary image process for the image processing is performed with the threshold, and the contour line is converted to the binary gradient which detects the discontinuous variation of brightness of rolling-coils. The moments invariant algorithm proposed by Hu is used to make it easy to recognize even when the position of the center are different from the trained data. The position error compensation algorithm of six degrees of freedom industrial robot manipulator is also developed and the data of the position of the center rolling-coils, which is obtained by floor mount camera, are transferred by asynchronous communication method. Therefore, even if the position of center is changed, robot moves to the position of center and performs the labeling work successfully. Therefore, this system can be improved the safety and efficiency.

  • Recently, there is a rising interest on studying bio-inspired robotic fish because of real fish's great maneuverability and high energy efficiency. However, the researches about the robotic fish have not been done so much and there are still lots of problems to use them in the real environment such as in the river. This paper describes a bio-inspired robotic fish 'Ichthus' which is developed in KITECH and has 3 DOF propulsive mechanism. We develop the dynamic motion equation of 'Ichthus' in the underwater environment and analyze response characteristics of 'Ichthus' according to the input parameters of tail fin's amplitude and oscillation frequency. Then we propose control parameters at the various velocities. These parameters are useful to increase energy efficiency and it can be used when the fish robot moves in the real environment, for example, we can propose proper amplitude and oscillation frequency when the fish robot passes through the narrow space between obstacles.

  • Heavy metal level and distribution in sediments and bivalves from the tidal flats along the mid-western coast, Korea, were investigated. The averages of heavy metal concentrations in sediments from 5 sampling sites ranged from 86.35-187.77mg/kg for Mn, 13.25-17.73mg/kg for Zn, 6.80-11.85mg/kg for Cr, 4.28-6.25mg/kg for Ni, 1.85-3.09mg/kg for Cu, 0.004-0.020mg/kg for Cd and 5.70-10.41mg/kg for Pb, respectively. Among the mussels of the limited body size(8.5-11cm), heavy metal concentration both in the flesh and in the whole soft parts were not strongly related to the body size. It was shown that, in S. strictus, Cu moves fast into the flesh after absorption, but Pb and Fe move very slowly. Overally, the heavy metal concentration in the flesh tends to increase with that in the whole soft parts. The concentration factors(heavy metal concentration in S. strictus/heavy metal concentration in sediment) showed that, of the examined metals, Cd is the most cumulative in the body of S. strictus, followed by Zn and Cu, while Mn, Cr, Ni and Pb are not cumulative.
