According to the structure, solenoid valve can be categorized as spool valve or poppet valve. While various research on spool valve which has simple structure and fine susceptibility to contamination has been conducted, poppet valve which has less susceptibility to contamination and advantage in a long time operation still need much research because of its complicated structure. In order to design the poppet valve, various parameters such as the diameter of the poppet, the angle of the poppet, the diameter of the disk, the spring stiffness, the spring preload and flow path structure should be considered. Conventional studies on poppet valve usually take only one design parameters and did not much focused on the effect of the parameters on flow characteristics. In this paper, the change of the flow characteristics according to the design parameters of the poppet valve for 3/2Way solenoid valve is analyzed. The previous studies and the results of initial model analysis was referred for the selection of the design parameters. The effects of design parameters on maximum pressure, minimum pressure, and pressure drop was examined using analysis of means(ANOM).

A Study on the flow-structure characteristics of a 3/2 way pneumatic valve is essential for optimizing the performance of ship engines. It is important for the valve to have desirable safety factor am reduced weight from the safety and economic point of view. In this study, we capture flow-structure characteristics of 3/2 way pneumatic valve. This is optimized based on the proper design criteria. The air at a pressure of 30 bar is the working fluid which is made to fill in the tack in short time. This time is defined as the filling time. The flow and structure analysis is performed for three cases under maximum stress and safety factor. In optimum design, considering the flow-structure characteristics, we model twenty seven cases by using DOE(design of experiments) method Here, analysis for each cases is performed and then metamodels are created We obtain optimized parameters and then analysis is repeated to compare with the initial model. Finally, the feasibility of the optimum design is verified.

Korea District heating corp. recently give an attention to combine the district heating and supply pipes as a two pipe system that are in the present system separated with room heating and warm water supply pipe, and the two pipe system is commonly applied for heating service in European countries. In the new two pipe system, only one heat source is supplied to a house and partitioned into room heating and warm water supply by household substation. So the effective distribution of supplied heat source in accordance to user intention is very important. This paper presents the development and performance test of three-way proportional control valve for a combined heat source system in district heating. The proposed valve is controlled to partition heat source into two different directions : hot water distributor for space heating and household substation for warm water supply in response to the pressure drops of tap water caused by the user. The performance investigation is shown within 3% of error compared to the theoretical model of the three-way proportional valve and its controllability is verified.

In this past decade, industrial robot have substituted human workers successfully in certain areas, however, the applications are limited due to the shortcoming in their mechanism and control strategies. Many researchers, therefore, have focused on improving the mechanical and sensory capabilities. Developing mult-degree-of-freedom end effectors, in other words robot hands, is one of the topics that researchers have begun to improve the limitation. A set of direct drive type servo-pneumatic finger joint has been developed for a dexterous robot hand. To control the pneumatic finger joints, a prototype 4/3-way proportional control valve has been designed and tested as a preliminary, research for the control of the pneumatic finger joints. A series of experiments have been conducted to verify the performance characteristics of the valve and the conventional proportional error contral with minor-loop compensation has been used to control the anguar position of the finger joints.

This study suggests a new type shaft generating system driven by hydrostatic transmission suitable for small size vessels. In this system, the hydraulic motor speed is controlled by displacement adjustment using a 3-way high speed on/off valve. The 3-way high speed valve is operated by PWM control signal. In this study, a digital robust servo control algorithm is applied to the controller design of the system. By experiments and numerical computations, the frequency variation characteristics of the generating system under various disturbances are investigated. Conclusively, it is said that the shaft generating system proposed in this study shows excellent control performances.

By way of driving a 2-way on/off solenoid hydraulic valve with a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal, control of the pressure in a certain volume is frequently used in various applications. However, the pressure built-up according to the duty ratio and carrier frequency of the PWM signal is not so well understood. In order to clarify the characteristics of 2-way valve hydraulic pressure control systems, in this paper two formula fur the mean and ripple of the load pressure were derived through theoretical analysis. And the accuracy of the derived formula were verified by comparison with the experimental test result. Generally 2-way valve systems are constructed as a bleed-off circuit, while 3-way valves are used as a control element in a meter-in circuit pressure control system. In a bleed-off circuit, the system supply pressure from a hydraulic power pack does not remain constant, but changes according to their external load. In turn, the relief valve in the hydraulic power pack reacts accordingly showing complicated dynamic behavior, which makes an analytical study difficult. In order to resolve the problem, simple but accurate empirical dynamic models fer a bleed-off system were used in the course of formula derivation. As the result, selection criteria for two major control parameters of the driving signal is established and the basic strategy to suppress the unnecessary pressure fluctuation can be provided for a hydraulic pressure control system using a 2-way on/off solenoid valve.

A 3-way valve has been applied to a distributor in a hot-water heating system and the performance of the system was evaluated in view of the variations of pressure drop and flow rate. The 3-way valve has been designed to bypass overplus hot-water when a control valve is closed. Note that the flow goes through heating pipeline in normal operation. In the present study, the measured pressure drops in each part of the flow paths show that the contribution to the total pressure drop is in the order of the supply header with control valves, piping system of each room and return header of the distributor, even though the amount of it is different according to the flow paths. As a result of performance test by sequential closing of the control valves, the variations of pressure drop and flow rate in the distributor with 3-way valves is much lower than those with previous 2-way valves, which prevent noises induced by pressure fluctuations.

Gabion can be used for the purpose of preventing overflow of river and side loss of road. However the manufacturing process of the gabion is manually controlled especially to the joining process at the terminal part of gabion with small diameter wire. In this paper automatic feeding guide system was designed and fabricated to make automation. The fabricated system was tested in the factory level. Pneumatic system was considered as the main idea of the feeding system. 3/2-way and 5/2-way manual control valve, eight double-acting cylinders were used. Based on the theoretical simulation and actual test the fabricated system was well controlled. The system was applied to the patent.
Mobile hydraulics require higher energy efficiency, and a simpler as well as robust design, than general industrial hydraulics. The 6/3-way directional control valve is widely used as a mobile hydraulic control valve. However, since the 6/3-way directional control valve is a spool type valve, it is difficult to maintain the load. A counterbalance valve is typically used, to maintain the load, and lift down. However, in an industrial field using a mobile hydraulics device, a pilot controlled check valve may be used to implement holding and lifting operation of the self-weight load, and a relief valve may be used simply to exert back pressure. But no comparative analysis of advantages and disadvantages of each method was revealed. In this study, various methods of holding and unloading load with self-weight in mobile hydraulics are investigated, and compared through simulation using AMESim software. This is experimentally verified by using Festo's mobile hydraulic test rig TP800.

In this paper, a cooling system of high-power propulsion motor with Energy Saving System(ESS) is described. Normally, the cooling system for ship consists of fresh water pump, sea water pump, 3-way valve and cooler. In the cooling system, F.W(Fresh Water) and S.W(Sea Water) pump is operated on rated rpm, and the 3-way valve is controlled for preventing over-cooling. So, the consumption power of pump's motor is changed according to a sea water temperature. In the proposed cooling system, F.W. pump and S.W pump is controlled by inverter, and it is can be reduced the consumption power. Also, it is proved with simulation.
