The Design & Manufacture of Multi-coil Eddy Current Sensor and Characteristic Analysis (다중코일 와전류 센서 설계제작 및 특성분석)

  • This paper introduces the multi-coil eddy current sensor and its characteristic in magnetic material gas turbine rotor. In the past, magnetic particle inspection method was used for qualitative defect evaluation in magnetic material gas turbine rotor. And the ultrasonic inspection method was used for quantitative defect evaluation. Nowadays, eddy current method is used in magnetic gas turbine rotor inspection due to advanced sensor design technology. We developed multi-coil eddy current sensor for the rotor dovetail inspection. At first, rotor stress is analyzed for the determination of sensor position and number. The sensor coils are designed to cover the stress concentration area of rotor dovetail. We select optimum frequency according to material standard penetration data and experiment results. The rotor mock-up and artificial defects were made for the signal detection and resolution analysis of multi-coil eddy current sensor. The results show that signal detection and resolution capabilities are enhanced in comparison to the commercialized sensor enough for the gas turbine rotor inspection. So, this developed multi-coil eddy current sensor substituted for commercialized one and it applied in real gas turbine rotor inspection.

Development of a Portable Multi-sensor System for Geo-referenced Images and its Accuracy Evaluation (Geo-referenced 영상 획득을 위한 휴대용 멀티센서 시스템 구축 및 정확도 평가)

  • In this study, we developed a Portable Multi-sensor System, which consists of a video camera, a GPS/MEMS IMU and a UMPC to acquire video images and position/attitude data. We performed image georeferencing based on the bundle adjustment without ground control points using the acquired data and then evaluated the effectiveness of our system through the accuracy verification. The experimental results showed that the RMSE of relative coordinates on the ground point coordinates obtained from our system was several centimeters. Our system can be efficiently utilized to obtain the 3D model of object and their relative coordinates. In future, we plan to improve the accuracy of absolute coordinates through the rigorous calibration of the system and camera.

Geometric Snakes for Triangular Meshes (삼각 메쉬를 위한 기하학 스네이크)

  • Feature detection is important in various mesh processing techniques, such as mesh editing, mesh morphing, mesh compression, and mesh signal processing. In this paper, we propose a geometric snake as an interactive tool for feature detection on a 3D triangular mesh. A geometric snake is an extension of an image snake, which is an active contour model that slithers from its initial position specified by the user to a nearby feature while minimizing an energy functional. To constrain the movement of a geometric snake onto the surface of a mesh, we use the parameterization of the surrounding region of a geometric snake. Although the definition of a feature may vary among applications, we use the normal changes of faces to detect features on a mesh.

  • In this paper, we propose monocular visual simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) in the large-scale environment. The proposed method continuously computes the current 6-DoF camera pose and 3D landmarks position from video input. The proposed method successfully builds consistent maps from challenging outdoor sequences using a monocular camera as the only sensor. By using a binary descriptor and metric-topological mapping, the system demonstrates real-time performance on a large-scale outdoor dataset without utilizing GPUs or reducing input image size. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated on various challenging video sequences.

  • Many researchers have been studied texturing the 3D face model with front and side pictures of ordinary person. It is very important to exactly detect the psition of eyes, nose, mouth of a human from the side pictures. Previous results first found the position of eye, nose, or mouth and then extract the other face components using their positional correlation. The detection results greatly depend on the correct extraction of the neck from the images. Therefore, we present a new algorithm that remove the neck completely and thus improve the detection rates of face components. To do this, we will use the RGB values and its differences.

  • In recent years, a PID controller has been used as a major control method in real control processes. This controller requires a determination of PID control gains. But it is difficult to select the best gains theoretically. Thus there have been many approaches to determine them empirically Most of them are based on experience and knowledge. In this paper, we proposed a tuning method of the PID Parameters by using neural network. To show effectiveness of the proposed method, the simulation of DC motor and one link manipulator position control is carried out.

Rv3168 Phosphotransferase Activity Mediates Kanamycin Resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis

  • Tuberculosis is a worldwide epidemic disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, with an estimated one-third of the human population currently affected. Treatment of this disease with aminoglycoside antibiotics has become less effective owing to antibiotic resistance. Recent determination of the crystal structure of the M. tuberculosis Rv3168 protein suggests a structure similar to that of Enterococcus faecalis APH(3')-IIIa, and that this protein may be an aminoglycoside phosphotransferase. To determine whether Rv3168 confers antibiotic resistance against kanamycin, we performed dose-response antibiotic resistance experiments using kanamycin. Expression of the Rv3168 protein in Escherichia coli conferred antibiotic resistance against $100{\mu}M$ kanamycin, a concentration that effected cell growth arrest in the parental E. coli strain and an E. coli strain expressing the $Rv3168^{D249A}$ mutant, in which the catalytic Asp249 residue was mutated to alanine. Furthermore, we detected phosphotransferase activity of Rv3168 against kanamycin as a substrate. Moreover, docking simulation of kanamycin into the Rv3168 structure suggests that kanamycin fits well into the substrate binding pocket of the protein, and that the phosphorylation-hydroxyl-group of kanamycin was located at a position similar to that in E. faecalis APH(3')-IIIa. On the basis of these results, we suggest that the Rv3168 mediates kanamycin resistance in M. tuberculosis, likely through phosphotransferase targeting of kanamycin.

A Kinematics Analysis of Back Armstand 2 Somersault in Platform Dives a Case Study (플랫폼 다이빙 624C동작의 운동학적 사례분석)

  • A platform diving with categorizing 624C motion was video taped and 3D kinematic variables were analyzed. This motion is consist of 3 parts from the headstand position to the act of turning after take-off. The results indicated that it took a very short time from the moment of take-off to the act of 1/2 turning because the turning motion has already started from preparing motion even before the fingertips have parted from the ground. Also, there was barely any jumping height due to the use of upper limbs segment and there was little difference in the moving distance compared to the standing events judging from horizontal movement of 1.1m. The horizontal velocity of the center of human body was increased before take-off while the vertical velocity was decreased right after take-off and the velocity of lower limbs segment was faster than the upper limbs segment showing contrary results to the standing events. In the aspects of angular velocity, the upper limbs segment starts the turning motion when take-off by rapidly extending its angular velocity while lower limbs segment make large angular velocity even before take-off.

Numerical Analysis of Magnetic Flux Density Distribution by an Openable Magnetic Flux Generator for MIAB Welding (MIVB 용접용 개폐형 자속발생기에 의한 자원밀도분포의 수치해석)

  • MlAB(magnetically impelled arc butt) welding is a sort of pressure welding method by melting two pipe sections with high speed rotating arc and upsetting two pipes in the axial direction. The electro-magnetic force, the driving force of the arc rotation, is generated by interaction of arc current and magnetic field induced from the magnetic flux generator in the welding system. In this study, an openable coil system for the generation of magnetic flux and a 3-dimensional numerical model for analyzing the electro-magnetic field were proposed. Through the fundamental numerical analyses, a magnetic concentrator was adopted for smoothing the magnetic flux density distribution in the circumferential direction. And then a series of numerical analysis were performed for investigating the effect of system parameters on the magnetic flux density distribution in the interested welding area.. Numerical quantitative analyses showed that magnetic flux density distribution generated from the proposed coil system is mainly dependent on the exciting current in the coil and the position of coil or concentrator from the pipe outer surface. And the gap between pipe ends and arc current are also considered as important factors on arc rotating behavior.

Accurate Characterization of T/R Modules with Consideration of Amplitude/Phase Cross Effect in AESA Antenna Unit

  • In this paper, an accurate characterization of a fabricated X-band transmit/receive module is described with the process of generating control data to correct amplitude and phase deviations in an active electronically scanned array antenna unit. In the characterization, quantization errors (from both a digitally controlled attenuator and a phase shifter) are considered using not theoretical values (due to discrete sets of amplitude and phase states) but measured values (of which implementation errors are a part). By using the presented procedure for the characterization, each initial control bit of both the attenuator and the phase shifter is closest to the required value for each array element position. In addition, each compensated control bit for the parasitic cross effect between amplitude and phase control is decided using the same procedure. Reduction of the peak sidelobe level of an array antenna is presented as an example to validate the proposed procedure.
