프린지 투영법을 이용한 실시간 3D 구강 내 스캐너의 개발 (Development of a Real-time 3D Intraoral Scanner Based on Fringe-Projection Technique)

  • Real-time three-dimensional shape measurement is becoming increasingly important in various fields, including medical sciences, high-technology industry, and microscale measurements. However, there are not so many 3D profile tools specially designed for specifically narrow space, for example, to scan the tooth shape of a human jaw. In this paper, a real-time 3D intraoral scanner is proposed for the measurement of tooth profile in the mouth cavity. The proposed system comprises a laser diode beam, a micro charge-coupled device, a graticule, a piezoelectric transducer, a set of optical lenses, and a polhemus device sensor. The phase-shifting technique is used along with an accurate calibration method for the measurement of the tooth profile. Experimental and theoretical inspection of the phase-to-coordinate relation is presented. In addition, a nonlinear system model is developed for collimating illumination that gives the more accurate mathematical representation of the system, thus improves the shape measurement accuracy. Experiment results are presented to verify the feasibility and performance of the developed system. The experimental results indicate that overall measurement error accuracy can be controlled within 0.4 mm with a variability of ${\pm}0.01$.

A Simple Eye Gaze Correction Scheme Using 3D Affine Transformation and Image In-painting Technique

  • Owing to high speed internet technologies, video conferencing systems are exploited in our home as well as work places using a laptop or a webcam. Although eye contact in the video conferencing system is significant, most systems do not support good eye contact due to improper locations of cameras. Several ideas have been proposed to solve the eye contact problem; however, some of them require complicated hardware configurations and expensive customized hardwares. In this paper, we propose a simple eye gaze correction method using the three-dimensional (3D) affine transformation. We also apply an image in-painting method to fill empty holes that are caused by round-off errors from the coordinate transformation. From experiments, we obtained visually improved results.

Vibration analysis of free-fixed hyperbolic cooling tower shells

  • A three-dimensional (3-D) method of analysis is presented for determining the free vibration frequencies of hyperboloidal shells free at the top edge and clamped at the bottom edge like a hyperboloidal cooling tower by the Ritz method based upon the circular cylindrical coordinate system instead of related 3-D shell coordinates which are normal and tangent to the shell midsurface. The Legendre polynomials are used as admissible displacements. Convergence to four-digit exactitude is demonstrated. Natural frequencies from the present 3-D analysis are also compared with those of straight beams with circular cross section, complete (not truncated) conical shells, and circular cylindrical shells as special cases of hyperboloidal shells from the classical beam theory, 2-D thin shell theory, and other 3-D methods.

시점 불변인 특징과 확률 그래프 모델을 이용한 인간 행위 인식 (Human Activity Recognition using View-Invariant Features and Probabilistic Graphical Models)

  • 본 논문에서는 Kinect와 같은 RGB-D 센서를 이용하여 사람의 3차원 신체 포즈 스트림 데이터를 생성하고, 이로부터 사람의 일상 행위를 효과적으로 인식하는 방법을 제안한다. Kinect SDK나 OpenNI에서 제공하는 실시간 신체 포즈 데이터는 Kinect 중심의 3차원 데카르트 좌표계로 표현되기 때문에, 시점 변화 문제와 크기 변화 문제를 겪을 가능성이 높다. 이러한 문제를 해결하고 시점 및 크기 불변인 특징을 얻기 위해, 본 논문에서는 신체 포즈 데이터를 실험자의 골반을 원점으로 하는 구면 좌표계로 변환하고 실험자의 팔 길이를 이용한 크기 정규화를 수행한다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 확률 그래프 모델 중 하나인 은닉 조건부 랜덤 필드를 이용하여, 고수준의 일상 행위들이 내포하는 다양한 내부 구조를 효과적으로 표현한다. 두 가지 데이터 집합 KAD-70과 CAD-60을 이용한 실험을 통해, 본 논문에서 제안한 행위 인식 방법과 구현 시스템의 높은 인식 성능을 확인하였다.

Web 3D 가상도시 구축 (Construction of 3D Virtual City on the Web)

  • 실세계의 분석에서부터 3D 가상도시를 구축하는 GIS는 매우 빠르게 발전하고 있다. 3D 가상도시는 GIS 기술, 컴퓨터그래픽스 기술, 가상현실 기술, 공간 데이터베이스 기술에 의해 컴퓨터 속에 구현이 되는 도시를 말한다. 본 연구에서는 수치지도를 이용하여 실세계 지도좌표를 포함한 3차원 지형 기본맵을 구축하였다. 그리고 높이값을 가진 건물과 3차원 지형 기본맵을 통합하여 Cyber City를 구축하였다. 여기에 Server/Client 시스템을 이용하여 3차원 Cyber City 웹서비스 실시하였다. 기존의 이미지 또는 벡터 기반의 웹서비스방식보다 벡터와 이미지의 합성인 하이브리드(Hybrid)방식으로의 개선을 제안하였고, 공간검색 속성검색 기능을 제공함으로써 기존의 Web 3D 기술의 단순한 가시화의 한계를 넘어 Web 3D GIS로의 발전방향을 제시하였다.

기초 3D 그래픽 교과에 대한 플립드 러닝 적용 효과 분석 (The Effect of Flipped Learning on the 3D Computer Graphics Class)

  • The teaching method of colleges and universities is traditionally lectures then professors has described orally in class and students has listened to accompanying with papers, mid-terms, and final exams. Jon Bergmann and Aaron Sams have developed new way of teaching called flipped learning; Classwork at home and homework in class. By adapting the method, this paper researched how efficient it is and what factors tutors should consider for better results. Specifically this research examined the flipped learning applying to basic 3D graphics class of J University in Korea and students answered surveys and took a couple of tests. Since the most students of the class did not have any background of 3D graphics, it was the first time for them to work with 3 dimensional space coordinate system. As a result, the research showed positive side of flipped learning like increasing peers' interest to the class and positive attitude about video lectures watched before coming to class.

  • In this paper, the 3-D positioning problem for a quadruped walking robot is investigated. In order to determine the robot's exterior position and orentation in a worls coordinate system, a stereo 3-D positioning algorithm is proposed. The proposed algorithm uses a Guide-Mark Pattern (GMP) specialy designed for fast and reliable extraction of 3-D robot position information from the uncontrolled working environment. Some experimental results along with error analysis and several means of reducing the effects of vision processing error in the proposed algorithm are disscussed.

3차원 절삭시 칩-공구 마찰 및 전단 특성 해석 (Analysis of Chip-Tool Friction and Shear Characteristics in 3-D Cutting Process)

  • In this study, a procedure for analyzing chip-tool friction and shear processes in 3-D cutting with a single point tool has been established. The edge of a single point tool including circular nose is modified to the equivalent straight edge, then 3-D cutting with a single point tool is reduced to equivalent oblique cutting. Transforming the conventional coordinate systems and using the measured three component of cutting forces, force components on the rake face and the shear plane of the equivalent oblique cutting system can be obtained. And it can be possible to assess the chip-tool friction and shear characteristics in 3-D cutting with a single point tool.

  • In this paper, a new stereo object tracking system using the disparity motion vector is proposed. In the proposed method, the time-sequential disparity motion vector can be estimated from the disparity vectors which are extracted from the sequence of the stereo input image pair and then using these disparity motion vectors, the area where the target object is located and its location coordinate are detected from the input stereo image. Basing on this location data of the target object, the pan/tilt embedded in the stereo camera system can be controlled and as a result, 3D tracking of the target object can be possible.

POLAR EXPONENTIAL GRID와 장방형격자 영상시스템의 영상분해도 및 영상처리능력 비교 (A Comparison of System Performances Between Rectangular and Polar Exponential Grid Imaging System)

  • The conventional machine vision system which has uniform rectangular grid requires tremendous amount of computation for processing and analysing an image especially in 2-D image transfermations such as scaling, rotation and 3-D reconvery problem typical in robot application environment. In this study, the imaging system with nonuiformly distributed image sensors simulating human visual system, referred to as Ploar Exponential Grid(PEG), is compared with the existing conventional uniform rectangular grid system in terms of image resolution and computational complexity. By mimicking the geometric structure of the PEG sensor cell, we obtained PEG-like images using computer simulation. With the images obtained from the simulation, image resolution of the two systems are compared and some basic image processing tasks such as image scaling and rotation are implemented based on the PEG sensor system to examine its performance. Furthermore Fourier transform of PEG image is described and implemented in image analysis point of view. Also, the range and heading-angle measurement errors usually encountered in 3-D coordinates recovery with stereo camera system are claculated based on the PEG sensor system and compared with those obtained from the uniform rectangular grid system. In fact, the PEC imaging system not only reduces the computational requirements but also has scale and rotational invariance property in Fourier spectrum. Hence the PEG system has more suitable image coordinate system for image scaling, rotation, and image recognition problem. The range and heading-angle measurement errors with PEG system are less than those of uniform rectangular rectangular grid system in practical measurement range.
