스테레오 PIV 기법에 의한 임펠러 와류유동의 3차원 구조측정 (Identification on the Three-Dimensional Vortical Structures of Impeller Flow by a Multi-Plane Stereoscopic PIV Method)

  • The three-dimensional spatial structures of impeller flow created by a six bladed Rushton turbine have identified based on the volumetric velocity information from multi-plane stereoscopic PIV measurements. A total of 10 planes with 2 mm space and a 50 mm by 64 mm size of the field of view were targeted. To reduce the depth of focus, we adopted an angle offset configuration which satisfied the Scheimpflug condition. The distortion compensation procedure was utilized during the in situ calibration. Phase-locked instantaneous data were ensemble averaged and interpolated in order to obtain mean 3-D. volumetric velocity fields on a 60 degree sector of a cylindrical ring volume enclosing the turbine blade. Using the equi-vorticity surface rendering, the spatial structure of the trailing vortices was clearly demonstrated. Detail flow characteristics of the radial jet reported in previous studies of mixer flows were easily identified.

  • 본 논문에서는 낮은 대역폭을 가진 모바일 DMB 환경에서 사용할 수 있도록 깊이 영상 기반 렌더링(DIBR) 기법을 이용한 3차원 스테레오 입체 방송의 부가정보 영상 구성 방법을 설명한다. DIBR에서는 좌측 시점의 영상과 깊이 정보를 전송하고 수신측에서 우측 시점을 복원하는데, 화질이 손상될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 부가 정보를 구성해서 함께 전송하여 복원된 영상의 질을 높이고 전송하는 데이터의 양을 줄이는 방법을 제시한다.

  • The experimental model of the 8-view stereoscopic display system using the photopolymer-based VHOE is proposed. At first, the VHOE is implemented by angle-multiplexed recording of 8-view's diffraction gratings using the optimized exposure-time scheduling scheme in the photopolymer (HRF-150-100) and then. the VHOE-based 8-view stereoscopic display system is implemented by sequentially synchronizing the incident angles of the reference beam of the VHOE with the 8-view stereo images on the LCD pannel. Accordingly, from some experimental results using 8-view images generated by the toed-in stereo camera system, it is found that 8-view stereo images can be diffracted to eight different directions time-sequentially and there is some disparity between the stereo images.

Resolution of Temporal-Multiplexing and Spatial-Multiplexing Stereoscopic Televisions

  • Stereoscopic (S3D) displays present different images to the two eyes. Temporal multiplexing and spatial multiplexing are two common techniques for accomplishing this. We compared the effective resolution provided by these two techniques. In a psychophysical experiment, we measured resolution at various viewing distances on a display employing temporal multiplexing, and on another display employing spatial multiplexing. In another experiment, we simulated the two multiplexing techniques on one display and again measured resolution. The results show that temporal multiplexing provides greater effective resolution than spatial multiplexing at short and medium viewing distances, and that the two techniques provide similar resolution at long viewing distance. Importantly, we observed a significant difference in resolution at the viewing distance that is generally recommended for high-definition television.

  • 만약 다수의 스테레오그래퍼에게 어떻게 해야 좋은 입체 3D영화를 찍을 수 있느냐고 묻는다면 돌아오는 답은 모두 다를 것이다. 세상엔 3D와 관련한 많은 지식과 의견들이 존재하고, 때론 동의할 수 없는 것들도 있다. 우리 스스로 어떤 의견을 받아들일지를 결정해야 하고, 우리 자신의 작업 방식도 찾아야만 한다. 하지만 입체 영화란 시각적 차이와 상관없이 관객 모두에게 최소한의 편안함이 없다면 온전히 상영될 수 없을 것이다. 우선, 작업에 앞서 적절한 입체 장면을 얻기 위해서 우리는 항상 많은 요소들을 신중히 고려해야 한다. 이글의 목적은 입체 영화 작업의 실례를 제공하는데 있다. 앞으로 이와 관련한 주제에 대한 더 많은 연구가 이루어지는 계기가 되기를 바란다.

TFT-LCD의 3차원 영상출력을 위한 렌티큘러 렌즈 최적설계 (Optimal Design of Lenticular Lens Sheet for the 3D Display on TFT-LCDs)

  • In this study, we have researched the optimum design method of the lenticular lens sheet for 3D displays on a TFT-LCD panel, to offer a more stable stereoscopic image, improved 3D quality, and a wider viewing zone. Especially, we have defined the viewing zone width (a parameter denoted as Z) to apply it to the optimum design. The results of this new design method have been compared with the existing design method. As a result, it is revealed that the proposed design method improves the stereoscopic image quality by reducing the black matrix zone width.

  • Non-real-time delivery of stereoscopic video has been considered as a service scenario for 3DTV to overcome the limited bandwidth in the terrestrial digital television system. A hybrid codec combining MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC has been suggested for the compression of stereoscopic video for 3DTV. In this paper, we propose a stereoscopic video coding scheme using adaptive pre-/post-filters (APPF) to improve the quality of 3D video while retaining compatibility with legacy video coding standards. The APPF are applied adaptively to blocks of various sizes determined by the macroblock coding mode and reference frame index. Experiment results show that the proposed method achieves up to 24.86% bit rate savings relative to a hybrid codec of MPEG-2 and H.264/AVC including the inter-view prediction.

  • A new technique to construct an auto-stereoscopic display that offers massive horizontal parallax images is proposed Multiple telecetnric imaging systems are arranged in a modified 2D array. The horizontal parallax images displayed by LCD panels are imaged to be superimposed on a 3D screen. All parallax images are displayed in the different horizontal directions because all imaging systems have different horizontal positions. The difference of the vertical display directions due to the imaging system's vertical positions is canceled by a vertical diffuser placed at the 3D screen. Observers can percept 3D images with the binocular disparity, the vergence, and the smooth motion parallax. In addition, the accommodation function may also work because a number of parallax images are displayed with a very small angle interval in the horizontal direction. A prototype 3D display including 64 color LCD panels was constructed.
