In this paper, the planar LTS and Vibaldi antenna operating at 28 GHz for LMDS is optimized by finite difference time domain(FDTD) method and then fabricated and measured. We designed LTS and Vivaldi antenna with corrugation structure for reducing sidelobe, then these antenna are optimized by FDTD, and then fabricated and measured. In a results of the measured values, sidelobe level of LTS and Vivaldi antenna with corrugation structure is 4 dB lower than that of LTS and Vivaldi antenna.
The design, numerical simulation, and an experimental implementation of two-element cross-shaped microstrip line-fed printed slot array antenna for IMT-2000 at the 2.0 GHz band is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna with relative permittivity 4.3 and thickness 1.0mm is analyzed by the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method. It was shown that the measured 2.0 VSWR bandwidth of one-element microstrip slot antenna is from 1.42 GHz to 2.69 GHz, which is approximately 61.8% and that of two-element microstrip slot array antenna is from 1.42 GHz to 2.56 GHz, which is approximately 57.3% And it was shown that the measured gain of one-element microstrip slot antenna is 2.75 dBi and that of two-element microstrip slot antenna is 4.75 dEi. The antennas were fabricated and tested. The measured results are in good agreements with the FDTD results.

In this paper, a design method of broadband horn antenna having 3:1 bandwidth and multiple polarization characteristics is proposed. The feeding section of the antenna adopts quadruple-ridged waveguide type for broadband and multiple polarization characteristics of the antenna. By inserting a shorting bar in the cavity structure with a semi-sphere type back short, the return loss at the feeding section was minimized. A corrugated dielectric lens is designed for phase compensation and lens-surface matching at the antenna aperture, which improves the antenna beam pattern. The validity of the design method is verified by indicating the measured data of the antenna.

In this paper, we developed the compact Doppler radar using the compact dual-circularly polarized antenna for medical application. The operating frequency is 2.47 GHz for considering ISM band. In order to decrease the size of the entire system, we designed the compact antenna and located the circuit board at the back of the antenna. The simulation of the proposed antenna was performed by the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. The total volume of the proposed system is $65{\times}45{\times}6mm^3$ including the antenna. From the experiment, the developed bio-radar could be used to support the device for medical applications.

Parabolic offset antenna is widely used for wireless communication system. The general structure of parabolic offset antenna system is composed of supporting stand and RF devices under parabolic reflector. However sidelobe distortion in gain pattern is occurred by supporting stand and RF devices. Depending on position of subsidiary devices, angle of sidelobe distortion can be changed. In this paper we describe method for sidelobe distortion suppression using raytracing. We calculate 3D vector for sidelobe distortion suppression zone by raytracing method and compare when subsidiary device is in sidelobe distortion suppression zone or not. By comparison, we show method for parabolic antenna sidelobe distortion suppression.

This paper presents the antenna factor characteristics of a calculable dipole antenna with a hybrid balun, installed above ground plane vertically and horizontally, using Method of Moments (MoM). An expression for the antenna factor is formulated using the concept of power mismatch loss. The input impedance and effective length of the antenna, which are in the formula of the antenna factor, are calculated using the MoM. The results show that the antenna factors above a ground plane are agreed with the free space antenna factors within ± 0.14 dB. The horizontal antenna factors are varied more by 0.2 dB than the vertical antenna factors.

This paper suggests novel signal processing methods for optimal beamforming of smart antenna system in CDMA2000 mobile communication environments. This method utilize characteristics of the reverse pilot channel of CDMA2000 mobile communication systems, and applies them to improve the performance of an adaptive algorithm, which is used to a smart antenna system for beamforming. To perform the best beamforming, it is important to get an exact beamforming algorithm. This paper proposed an algorithm based on Laglange multiplier which has such an adaptive process, and also proposed the method to demodulate the received signal through array antenna using pilot channel in CDMA2000 environment. This paper analysed the enhanced performance of proposed algorithm in various signal environment through signal modeling of physical layer in CDMA2000 reverse link.

In this paper, the method of isolation enhancement for the mobile phone MIMO antenna of LTE class 40(2300~2400MHz) was studied. Design of MIMO antenna was based on the hybrid antenna that operates both a monopole and an IFA(Inverted F Antenna). A structure for the isolation enhancement which controls induced electric field on the ground plane is located between MIMO antenna, and was not connected with the ground but apart 0.3mm. A MIMO antenna that operates on class 3~40(1710~2400MHz) of LTE service bands and a structure for the isolation enhancement at the class 10 band were designed. VSWR measurement of implemented antenna on the FR4 board showed within 3:1 at entire design bands, and isolation between antennas at the class 40 band was less than -30dB. Isolation was enhanced more than 20dB by the studied structure. ECC(Envelope Correlation Coefficient) for MIMO performance was under 0.1, and antenna average gain and efficiency measured in the anechoic chamber were -4.28~-1.40dBi and 37.32~72.36% respectively.
This paper presents a method to optimize the design of a planar-type antenna and reduce the number of design parameters for rapid computation. The electromagnetic characteristics of the structure are analyzed, and Taguchi method is used to identify critical design parameters. Adaptive particle swarm optimization, which has a faster convergence rate than particle swarm optimization, is used to achieve the design goal effectively. A compact dual-band USB dongle antenna is tested to verify the advantage of the proposed method. In this case, we can use only five selected geometrical parameters instead of eighteen to accelerate the optimization of the antenna design. The 10 dB bandwidth for return loss ranges from 2.3 GHz to 2.7 GHz and from 5.1 GHz to 5.9 GHz, covering all the WiBro, Bluetooth, WiMAX, and 802.11 b/g/n WLAN bands in both simulation and measurement. The optimization process enables the antenna design to achieve the required performance with fewer design parameters.
In this paper, the single patch microstrip antenna and gap coupled broadband microstrip patch antenna using FDTD(Finite Difference Time Domain method) are analyzed. Mur's 2nd absorbing boundary condition to minimize reflected wave is applied. Return loss, voltage standing wave ratio, and input impedance by the length and width of driving patch, the length and width of parasitic patch, and the distance between driving patch and parasitic patch have been analyzed. Design parameters and radiation patterns of broadband antenna have been also shown.
