Empirical Analysis on the Effects of FTAs and FTA Spillover on the Bilateral Trade using GMM, Fixed and Random Panel Model, and PPML Estimation (GMM, 패널, PPML 비교분석을 통한 FTA와 FTA파급효과 분석)

  • This paper analyzes both the FTA effects and FTA spillover effects on bilateral trade using 62 countries' panel data during the period of 2003 ~ 2013. To this end, we construct a FTA dummy variable for the effect of FTA in the model and the weighted FTA matrix interacted with export and import for the spillover effect of FTA. Gravity model is applied to the empirical analysis with GMM, fixed and random effects, and PPML estimation. As a result of the analysis, FTA variables have positive relationships with bilateral export and import. The weighted FTA matrix interacted with export and import also have positive signs on the bilateral export and import in all estimations. Thus, we conclude that various FTAs of neighbor or 3rd countries increase the bilateral export and import. We provide some implications that a country to increase the amount of trade has a trade relationship with the countries having various FTAs and for the FTA effect analysis, the three-country model is better than to the two-country model.

  • Precise run-off forecasting depends on the ability to predict quantitative rainfall intensity. This study suggests a stochastic model for 1 hour order rainfall prediction. The model simultaneously predicts rainfall intensity at all telemetered rain-gauge locations. All model parameters, velocity and direction of storm movement, radial spectrum, dimensionless time distribution of rainfall, are estimated from telemetered and historical data for the basin being predicted. Also the estimated parameters are based on the previous study. The results are the influence of dimensionless time distributions on the prediction and the model on run-off.

  • This study develops an optimal mobile-communication-based National Highway traffic volume estimation model using an ensemble-based machine learning algorithm. Based on information such as mobile communication data and VDS data, the LightGBM model was selected as the optimal model for estimating traffic volume. As a result of evaluating traffic volume estimation performance from 96 points where VDS was installed, MAPE was 8.49 (accuracy 91.51%). On the roads where VDS was not installed, traffic estimation accuracy was 92.6%.

  • The immigration procedure at airports is vital to making passenger and cargo transport faster. The rapid procedure of immigration could be an important determining factor when passengers select an air transport company, one that should have high satisfactory in terms of their service level and efficiency. Therefore, the advanced airport makes it easy for customers and their cargo to proceed. The coordination between authorities related to the Korean international airport is not satisfactory for customers. This paper analyzes the factors necessary to enhance the airport immigration procedure with the movement of aircrafts, passengers, cargo, and post, using the CK(Cook and Kress) model of DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis). From this study, the author found that research and development will be needed to improve the immigration procedure, especially on facilities and their operating systems. There are needed, also, performance indicators and a continuous monitoring system.

An Analysis on Import & Export pattern of the Port Traffic in the Port of Pusan by the Gravity Model (중력모형을 이용한 부산항의 해상물동량 입출항 패턴 분석)

  • In this paper, using the gravity model, I examined that the port traffic in the port of Pusan have been influenced by GDP of South Korea, GDP of trading countries, an agreement on maritime transport, maritime transport charge and the local economic integration, etc. In view of the policy implication based on the result of analysis by the gravity model, the port traffic and the transshipment in the port of Pusan is positively influenced by GDP of South Korea, GDP of trading countries and countries on the way of main sea route(LINE). But it is negatively influenced by maritime transport charge. Especially, when a maritime transport charge goes up 1 percentage point, it is estimated that a transshipment decreases about 0.586-0.895 percentage point. So, a maritime transport charge was found to have more effect on a transshipment than a port traffic(except transshipment).

  • 본 연구에서는 실측 강수 자료를 적용하여 장기 지하수위의 변동을 수치모의하고, 그 결과를 관측정으로부터 측정된 실측 지하수위와 비교하였다. 모형의 구축은 제주도 한라산 중산간으로부터 해안까지 이르는 유역 면적 $310km^2$의 천미천 유역을 대상으로 하였으며, 2001년 11월 부터 2002년 10월까지 12개월간의 강우에 따른 지하수위의 변동을 평형상태로 해석하였다. 미국 지질조사국 (USGS) 에서 개발한 3차원 유한차분 해석 프로그램인 MODFLOW 모형을 선정하여 적용한 결과를 유역 내의 12개 관측정 측정수위와 비교하였으며, 대상지역에서 14.7m의 평균 오차와 21% 정규 실효치를 나타내었다. 향후 모형 구축 및 모의 결과의 신뢰도를 향상시키기 위해 격자수와 크기의 조절 및 공간적 분포에 따른 대수층의 투수계수와 저류계수의 민감도 분석을 수행하여야 할 것으로 판단되며, 계속 연구 수행 중에 있다.

  • AIP를 설정하는 방법에서는 국가에 따라 일부 차이를 보이고 있지만, 본 고에서는 종주국이라 할 수 있는 영국에서의 최소비용대체법을 사용한 한계가치 산출방식을 사용하여 2011년에 주파수 재할당 대상이 되는 800MHz 대역을 대상으로 모형을 제시하고 적용결과를 분석하였다. 먼저 추가주파수를 사용하는 시스템과 주파수 대신 기지국 투자를 추가하는 시스템의 비교를 통하여 두 시스템간 셀간 면적비를 기준으로 한계가치를 도출하는 모형을 제안하고, 새로 도입될 기술인 LTE의 시스템 성능을 평가할 수 있는 시스템 레벨 시뮬레이터를 3GPP에서 제안하고 있는 이동통신 시스템 환경 및 요구조건에 따라 제작하였으며, 이 시뮬레이터를 바탕으로 시스템 도입 지역 또는 운영 주파수 대역에 따라 시뮬레이션을 통하여 시스템 용량을 산출하였다. 마지막으로 제안된 한계가치 모형과 시뮬레이션 결과를 결합하여 최종적으로 한계가치 산정의 기준이 될 추가기지국의 규모를 추정할 수 있는 모델을 제시하였다.

A Study on the Inundation Analysis of the Nam River Lowland Using GIS and FLUMAN (GIS와 FLUMAN을 이용한 남강 저지대 침수분석에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, flood analysis was conducted to prepare for damage caused by typhoons and heavy rain due to abnormal climate and climate change. Two - dimensional flooding analysis using the FLUMEN model, which is widely used for national and international flood risk mapping, was conducted for the Nam River Basin, which is the tributary of the Nakdong River. This study divides the topography into $5m{\times}5m$ DEM by ArcView, so that the accuracy of river repair and hydrological characterization and flood area identification can be maximized. As a result of simulation of water flooding, 163.3ha in section 1, 227.7ha in section 2 and 59.9ha in section 3 were simulated.

A Study on the Backward and Forward Linkage Effects among Korea, China and Japan by International Input-Output Analysis (한·중·일 3국간 전후방연쇄 효과의 변화와 특징)

  • This study analyzed backward and forward linkage effects among Korea, China and Japan by International Input-Output(I-O) tables. Index of dispersion power and sensitivity degrees were measured after making 'Korea, China and Japan International Input-Output(I-O) Table'. The study showed that the inter-dependency between Korea and China was increased while the influences of Japanese was decreased among the 3 countries. Under the de-industrialization, the 3 countries decreased influences over their domestic industry but increased the inter-dependency over the other countries. In addition, backward and forward linkage effects was significantly high in some industrial sectors such as petroleum, transportation, machinery equipment, service and public administration in 3 countries. In the case of service, the linkage effects among the 3 countries increased which means that the roles and inter-dependency of service was also gradually increasing in 3 countries.

The Impact of Globalization and Factor Abundancy on Income Inequality (세계화와 요소부존도가 소득불평등에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • This study analyzes the relationship between globalization and income inequality. The empirical model is developed based on Kuznets' hypothesis of the inverse U curve. The effects of factor abundancy and globalization which is characterized by trade and FDI on income inequality are analyzed. 127 member countries of WTO are classified into 4 groups according to GNI. The period of analysis is 21 years from 1995 to 2015. Results show that 3 groups of countries excluding one group that is high income countries supports Kuznets' hypothesis which is the inverse U curve. Secondly, expansion of trade decreases income inequality of middle income countries but increases high and low income countries. Thirdly, FDI increases income inequality of middle and low income countries. Finally, the increase in capital abundancy lowers income inequality because the capital accumulation increases the productivity of labor.
