  • Demands for micro parts have increased with recent advances in IT and machinery industries. However, the present technology loaves much to be desired to effectively produce parts with the volume of $1mm^{3}$ and less by mechanical method in large quantities. This paper provides a method for efficient quantity production of complete micro 3D structure using micro end-milling cutting process. The possibility has proven via manufacturing experiment of a multistage micro complex gear structure of $500{\mu}m$ in length, $500{\mu}m$ in maximum external diameter and a volume of $1mm^{3}$ and less.

  • In this paper, through the implementation of the application service, we evaluated the feasibility and availability of the staged application service platform, which is based on the sharing of the PVM cluster. Application service platform provides three managers for dividing the request processing steps into two stages, such as a request processing stage and a service providing stage. Three managers and its relation to the divided stages are as follows, service manager and load manager to distribute the request in front-end server for a request processing stage, job manager in clustered(back-end) servers for a service providing stage. The experiment shows that the staged application service platform provides more stable and scalable characteristics and better performance improvement on the dynamic load changes than the single server system. And also it shows that real application service system can be implemented easily without modification of the proposed service platform.

  • In this paper,we proposed and developed a compiler and interactive programming enviroments for C++ wich is mostly worth of nitice among the object -oriented languages. To develope the compiler for C++ we took front=end/back-end model using EM virtual machine. In develpoing Front-End,we formailized C++ gram-mar with the context semsitive tokens which must be manipulated by dexical scanner and designed a AST class li-brary which is the hierarchy of AST node class and well defined interface among them,In develpoing Bacik-End,we proposed model for three major components :code oprtimizer, code generator and run-time enviroments. We emphasized the retargatable back-end which can be systrmatically reconfigured to genrate code for a variety of distinct target computers. We also developed terr pattern matching algorithm and implemented target code gen-erator which produce SPARC code.We also proposed the theroy and model for construction interative pro-gramming enviroments. To represent language features we adopt AST as internal reprsentation and propose uncremental analysis algorithm and viseal digrams. We also studied unparsing scheme, visual diagram, graphical user interface to generate interactive environments automatically Results of our resarch will be very useful for developing a complier and programming environments, and also can be used in compilers for parallel and distributed enviroments.

  • A prototype ultrasound sector B-scanner has been developed where the front-end hardware refers to all the necessary circuits for transmitting the ultrasound pulses into the human body and receiving the reflected echo signals from it. The front-end hardware can generally be divided into three parts, i.e., a pulse generator for insonification, a receiver which is responsible for processing of low-level analog signals, and a steering controller for driving the mechanical sector probe whose functions and design concepts are described in this paper. The front-end hardware is implemented which incorporates the following features: improvement of the axial resolution using a circuit which reduces the ring-down time, flexibility of generating time-gain compensation curve, and adoption of a one-chip microcomputer for generating the rate pulses based on the sensor output waveforms.

  • The surface integrity of micro-machined products affects the performance of products significantly. Micro-burrs resulting from micro-cutting degrades the surface quality. Therefore it is desired to eliminate them completely and many studies have been undertaken for this purpose. In this study, micro-end-milling was carried out on nickel alloy and brass materials commercially used for light guide plate mold in 3-D optical devices. After completing this micro-machining, the burr heights were measured with a microscope. Then, deburring was done on the machined edges using the MR jet polishing method. A jet angle of $0^{\circ}$ and deburring times of 1, 3, and 5 min. were chosen. It was found that burrs were completely eliminated after 5 min of MR fluid jet polishing.

  • This paper proposes an interactive VOD system to serve truly interactive VCR services using multicast delivery, client buffer and web-caching technique which implements the distributed proxy in Head-End- Network(HNET). This technique adopts some caches in the HNET that consists of a Switching Agent(SA), some Head-End-Nodes(HEN) and many clients. In this model, HENs distributively store the requested video under the control of SA. Also, client buffer dynamically expands to support various VCR playback rate. Thus, interactive services are offered with transmitting video streams from network, HENs and stored streams on buffer. Therefore this technique makes the load of network occur In the limited area, minimizes the additional channel allocation from server and restricts the transmission of duplicated video contents

  • Line Balancing is the problem to assign tasks to stations while satisfying some managerial viewpoints. Most researches about the Mixed-Model Line Balancing problems are focused on the minimizing the total processing time or the number of workstations. Independently, some research reports consider the balance issues of the physical workloads on the assembly line. In this paper, we are presenting a new mathematical model to accomplish the line balance considering both the processing time and the workloads at the same time. To this, end, we propose an zero-one integer program problem, and we use the Chebyshev Goal Programming approach as the solution method. Some computational test runs are performed to compare the pay-offs between the processing time and the workloads. And, the test results show us that the reliable balanced work schedules can be obtained through the proposed model.

  • In this paper, low voltage 3V CMOS programmable gain amplifier(PGA) for using in the transmitter and receiver of ADSL analog front-end is designed. The designed receive PGA is connected with 1.1MHz continuous lowpass fillet and controls the gain from 0dB to 30dB. And also the transmitter PGA is connected with 138KHz lowpass filter and controls the gain from -15dB to 0dB. The gain of All PGAs can be programmed by digital logic circuits and main controller. The designed PGAs are verified using HSPICE simulation with $0.35\mu{m}$ CMOS parameter.

  • Until tile 1980s, the disposal of End of Life Vehicles (ELV) was considered unproblematic in Japan, Korea. and Taiwan. But in recent years, as environmental problems have attracted increasing attention. the processing oi ELV has become one of the most critical environmental issues. Discarded ELV represent a serious source of waste generation and pollution. In this paper, I will analyze the ELV problem from three view points: 1) ELV abandoned in the environment; 2) Significant environmental hazards caused by dismantling operations; and 3) Problems of how to deal with Automobile Shredder Residue (ASR).

  • In Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs), we usually deploy multiple Internet Gateways (IGWs) to improve the capacity of WMNs. As most of the traffic is oriented towards the Internet and may not be distributed evenly among different IGWs, some IGWs may suffer from bottleneck problem. To solve the IGW bottleneck problem, we propose an efficient scheme to balance the load among different IGWs within a WMN. Our proposed load-balancing scheme consists of two parts: a traffic load calculation module and a traffic load migration algorithm. The IGW can judge whether the congestion has occurred or will occur by using a linear smoothing forecasting method. When the IGW detects that the congestion has occurred or will occur, it will firstly select another available IGW that has the lightest traffic load as the secondary IGW and then inform some mesh routers (MPs) which have been selected by using the Knapsack Algorithm to change to the secondary IGW. The MPs can return to their primary IGW by using a regression algorithm. Our Qualnet 5.0 experiment results show that our proposed scheme gives up to 18% end-to-end delay improvement compared with the existing schemes.
