The effect of organic substance on its degradation rate in burial site was investigated using batch tests. Substrate were swine and cattle with the initial concentrations of 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 g VS(volatile solids)/L, respectively. The highest methane production rates of swine and cattle were found at 2 g VS/L as 46.3 and 48.4 ml CH4/g VS.d, respectively. As substrate concentration increased, the methane production rate decreased. The inhibition constants were n and m that were estimated using nonlinear inhibition model. The values of n and m were inhibition constants of methane production rate and ultimate methane yield, respectively. The values of n and m were 4.9 and 0.6 on swine and 1.1 and 0.4 on cattle. The methane production rate was responded sensitively by increase and decrease of substrate concentration, whereas ultimate methane yield do not relatively. From a relation between n and m, inhibitory effect of substrate concentration was confirmed as uncompetitive inhibition.

Four experiments with 2,020 nursery pigs (Triumph-4${\times}$PIC Camborough 22) were conducted at a commercial research site to evaluate the effects of including 30% distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS) in late nursery diets on pig growth performance and to compare the effects of pelleted and meal diets containing 30% DDGS on growth performance and nutrient digestibility. In Exp. 1, 312 pigs (10.54${\pm}$0.16 kg) were allotted to two diets: corn-soybean meal based control diet and a corn-soybean meal diet containing 30% DDGS. In Exp. 2, 337 pigs (16.70${\pm}$0.14 kg) were used to validate Exp. 1 with similar diets. In Exp. 3, 665 pigs (11.77${\pm}$0.12 kg) were allotted to diets containing 30% DDGS, but in different forms: meal or pellet. Fecal samples were collected during the final day of the trials to measure nutrient and energy apparent total tract digestibility (ATTD). In Exp. 4, 706 pigs (18.40${\pm}$0.18 kg) were allotted to the same diets as Exp. 3. In Exp. 1 and 2, there was no (p>0.05) effect of DDGS on ADG, ADFI or G:F. In Exp. 3, pelleting improved (p<0.01) ADG (578 vs. 541 g/d) and G:F (714 vs. 674 g/kg), with no difference (p>0.05) in ADFI. The ATTD of most nutrients and energy were improved by pelleting (p<0.05). In Exp. 4, ADG (717 vs. 675 g/d) and G:F (680 vs. 648 g/kg) were improved by pelleting (p<0.01), with no difference (p>0.05) in ADFI. In conclusion, 10-23 kg pigs in late nursery phase can be fed up to 30% DDGS without having a detrimental effect on pig performance, and pelleting the diet will increase nutrient and energy availability.
In this paper, the seismic response of elevated broad and slender liquid storage tanks isolated by elastomeric or sliding bearings was investigated. The accuracy of predictions of SAP2000 vs. 3D-BASIS-ME programs was examined. A comparative study of the performance of base isolated tanks when isolation bearings are placed at the top or at the bottom of the supporting tower structure was conducted. It was found that base isolation is quite effective in reducing the earthquake response of elevated liquid storage tanks in which high reductions of base shear and shaft displacement were achieved. Modeling the isolated tanks in SAP2000 was very successful in producing results that are nearly identical to those of program 3D-BASIS-ME. Placing the isolators at the top of the shaft in elevated tanks proved to be much better than placing them at the bottom.
Because of non-coplanar therapy with couch rotation in respiratory gated radiation therapy, the recognition of marker movement due to the change in the distance between the infrared camera and the marker due to the rotation of the couch is called RPM (Real-time The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the accuracy of motion reflections (baseline changes) of 2D gating configuration (two dot marker block) and 3D gating configuration (six dot marker block). The motion was measured by varying the couch angle in the clockwise and counterclockwise directions by $10^{\circ}$ in the 2D gating configuration. In the 3D gating configuration, the couch angle was changed by $10^{\circ}$ in the clockwise direction and compared with the baseline at the reference $0^{\circ}$. The reference amplitude was 1.173 to 1.165, the couch angle at $20^{\circ}$ was 1.132, and the couch angle at $1.0^{\circ}$ was 1.083. At $350^{\circ}$ counterclockwise, the reference amplitude was 1.168 to 1.157, the couch angle at $340^{\circ}$ was 1.124, and the couch angle at $330^{\circ}$ was 1.079. In this study, the phantom is used to quantitatively evaluate the value of the amplitude according to couch change.

Objective: Examine the effects of supplementing bahiagrass hay (BG) with potentially anthelmintic quantities of hays of perennial peanut (PEA) or sericea lespedeza (LES) or seeds of velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens L.; MUC) or papaya (PAP) on the intake and nutritive value (Experiment 1), and the performance and parasite burden (Experiment 2) of goats. Methods: In Experiment 1, 38 male goats ($27.4{\pm}5.7kg$ body weight) were randomly assigned to each of 5 treatments: i) BG alone and BG plus; ii) PEA; iii) LES; iv) MUC; and v) PAP. Goats were fed for ad libitum consumption and adapted to the diets for 14 d followed by 7 d of measurement. The PEA, LES, MUC (50%, 50%, and 10% of the diet dry matter [DM], respectively), and PAP (forced-fed at 10 g/d) were fed at rates that would elicit anthelmintic effects. In Experiment 2, goats remained in the same treatments but were allocated to 15 pens (3 pens per treatment) from d 22 to 63. All goats were infected with parasites by grazing an infected bahiagrass pasture from 0800 to 1500 h daily and then returned to the pens. Results: Dry matter intake tended to be greater in goats fed PEA and LES than those fed BG (757 and 745 vs 612 g/d, respectively). Digestibility of DM (59.5% vs 54.9%) and organic matter (60.8% vs 56.0%) were greater in goats fed MUC vs BG, respectively. In Experiment 2, feeding PAP, LES, and PEA to goats reduced nematode fecal egg counts by 72%, 52%, and 32%, reduced abomasal adult worm counts by 78%, 52%, and 42%, and decreased plasma haptoglobin concentrations by 42%, 40%, and 45% relative to feeding BG alone, respectively. Conclusion: Supplementation with PEA, LES, and PAP decreased the parasite burden of goats but did not increase their performance. PAP was the most effective anthelmintic supplement.

Background/Aims: Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is a value representing the heterogeneity in the size of red blood cell, and it is usually used in distinguishing types of anaemia. Recently, it was reported that it could reflect the burden of inflammation in diverse diseases and their prognosis. Hence, in this study, we investigated whether RDW may contribute to discriminating adult onset Still's disease (AOSD) from sepsis in serious febrile patients within 24 hours after hospitalization. Methods: We reviewed the medical records and enrolled 21 AOSD patients, 27 sepsis patients and 30 matched healthy controls. We collected at least two laboratory results of variables including RDW within 24 hours after hospitalization, and we calculated their mean values. Results: Sepsis patients showed the significantly increased median white blood cell count, compared to AOSD patients ($14,390.0/mm^3$ vs. $12,390.0/mm^3$, p = 0.010). The median RDW in sepsis patients was higher than that in AOSD patients (15.0% vs. 13.3%, p = 0.001), and furthermore, the median RDW in both patient-groups was significantly higher than that in healthy controls. In contrast, the median ferritin level in sepsis patients was lower than that in AOSD patients (544.0 mg/dL vs. 3,756.6 mg/dL, p = 0.001). In multivariate analysis, RDW ${\geq}14.8%$ (odds ratio, 17.549) and ferritin < 2,251.0 mg/dL (odds ratio, 32.414) independently suggested sepsis more than AOSD in patients initially presenting with fever requiring hospitalization. Conclusions: RDW might be a rapid and helpful marker for a differential diagnosis between AOSD from sepsis at an early phase.

A pilot-scale test for production of biogas was conducted in an specially designed anaerobic digester (KH-ABC) in which the highly concentrated organic waste (food-waste and piggery-manure) was treated. The effect of inhibitive material to the reaction on anaerobic digestion and the feasibility of digested fluid for the liquefied fertilizer were investigated. The production rate of biogas, the concentration of methane($CH_4$) in biogas, and the digesting rate of volatile solid(VS) were analyzed in the variance of the operating conditions ; the influent rate, the mixture ratio of food waste and piggery manure, and the hydraulic retention time(HRT), etc. The production rate of biogas increased from 1.2 to $2.0kg-VS/m^3{\cdot}d$ with the organic loading rate(OLR). The most suitable operating conditions were recorded at $6m^3/day$ of an influent rate, 2:3 of the raw material mixture ratio(food waste : piggery manure) and 25 days of HRT, respectively. Under those conditions, the production rate of biogas, the concentration of methane($CH_4$) in biogas and the digesting rate of volatile solid(VS) were $220m^3/day$, 64%, and 70%, respectively. The concentration of inhibitive materials was below toxic standard and the anaerobic digested fluid(raw material mixture ratio of 3:7) could meet the condition of the liquefied fertilizer.
The present study was conducted to investigate effects of auto milking system (AMS) on milk yield and milk composition in dairy cow using dairy herd improvement (DHI) record. DHI records for 147 cows were compared between a year before and after AMS use. AMS significantly increased daily milk yield compared with the conventional milking system (30.4kg vs 34.3 kg for CMS and AMS, respectively). There were no significant differences in the contents of milk fat (3.7% vs 3.8% for CMS and AMS) and milk protein (3.2% vs 3.2% for CMS and AMS) between CMS and AMS. But the yields of milk fat and milk protein were significantly higher for AMS than for CMS. Average somatic cell counts were 169,400/ml (1st grade) before AMS use but increased by 314,400/ml (2nd grade) after AMS use. Overall, AMS increased milk yield and the yields of milk fat and protein without affecting milk composition but also increased somatic cell count.
The equilibria of chemical reaction between $\alpha$-Ni(rac-[14]-decane)$^{2+}$ and polar solvents(L; ANT, MFA, DMSO, DMF, and DMA) have been investigated by the spectrophotometric method at $25^{\circ}C$. (The equilibrium constants($K_1$) of) the first step in ANT, MFA, DMSO, DMF, and DMA were 31.0, 27.5, 21.3 15.9, and 6.4, respectively. The smallness of equilibrium constants ($K_2$) of the second step compared with $K_1$, was observed. $\alpha$-Ni(rac-[14]-dacane)$^{2+}$ + L $\leftrightharpoons$ [$\alpha$-Ni(rac-[14]-decane){\cdot}L]$^{2+}$ : $K_1$.[$\alpha$-Ni(rac-[14]-decane){\cdot}L)$^{2+}$+ L $\leftrightharpoons$ [$\alpha$-Ni(rac-[14]-decane){\cdot}$L_2$)$^{2+}$ :$K_2$. The relationship between d-d absorption energy and half-wave potential of complex ions at ACT was considered. Macrocyclic ligands increasing d-d transition energy caused half-wave potentials of Ni(II)-macrocycle to be shifted more positively. The half-wave potentials for Ni(rac-1[14]7-diene)$^{2+}$, Ni(meso-1[14]7-diene)$^{2+}$, Ni(1[14]4-diene)$^{2+}$, $\alpha$-Ni(rac-[14]-decane)$^{2+}$, ${\beta}-Ni(rac-[14]-decane)$^{2+}$, and Ni(meso-[14]-decane)$^{2+}$ reductions were -1.419, -1.431, -1.450, -1.473, and -1.480 (V vs. SCE), respectively. The d-d transition energies ($\nu_{max},\;cm^{-1}$) of the Ni(meso-[14]-decane)$^{2+}$ isomer were discussed with the dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}/{\varepsilon}_0$) of the various solvents, $\nu_{max}(cm^{-1})$ increased with increasing ${\varepsilon}/{\varepsilon}_0$.

Background: This study was conducted to provide a comparison between the clinical outcomes of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and that of fibrinolysis followed by routine invasive treatment in ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Methods: A total of 184 consecutive STEMI patients who underwent primary PCI or fibrinolysis followed by a routine invasive therapy were enrolled from 2004 to 2011, and their major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) were compared. Results: Among the 184 patients, 146 patients received primary PCI and 38 patients received fibrinolysis. The baseline clinical characteristics were similar between both groups, except for triglyceride level ($68.1{\pm}66.62$ vs. $141.6{\pm}154.3mg/dL$, p=0.007) and high density lipoprotein level ($44.6{\pm}10.3$ vs. $39.5{\pm}8.1mg/dL$, p=0.005). The initial creatine kinase-MB level was higher in the primary PCI group ($71.5{\pm}114.2$ vs. $35.9{\pm}59.9ng/mL$, p=0.010). The proportion of pre-thrombolysis in MI 0 to 2 flow lesions (92.9% vs. 73.0%, p<0.001) was higher and glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors were administered more frequently in the primary PCI group. There was no difference in the 12-month clinical outcomes, including all-cause mortality (9.9% vs. 8.8%, p=0.896), cardiac death (7.8% vs. 5.9%, p=0.845), non-fatal MI (1.4% vs. 2.9%, p=0.539), target lesion revascularization (5.7% vs. 2.9%, p=0.517), and stroke (0% vs. 0%). The MACEs free survival rate was similar for both groups (odds ratio, 0.792; 95% confidence interval, 0.317-1.980; p=0.618). The clinical outcome of thrombolysis was not inferior, even when compared with primary PCI performed within 90 minutes. Conclusion: Early fibrinolysis with optimal antiplatelet and antithrombotic therapy followed by appropriate invasive procedure would be a comparable alternative to treatment of MI, especially in cases of shorter-symptom-to-door time.
