In this paper, a 3D structure skimmer-shaped circular microstrip antenna is designed, the ends of whose both sides are made as DC(Depressed Carving part) applying perturbation effect to reduce the patch size of microstrip antenna operating at design frequency 1.575 GHz. The result shows its return loss, - 10 dB bandwidth, gain, - 3 dB beamwidth E, H-plane are -26.59 dB, 65 MHz(4.13 %), 4.66 dBd, $79^{\circ},\;87^{\circ}$ respectively. The diameter of the antenna is 85 mm, which is 12.4 % reduced compared to the size(97 mm) of general microstrip patch antenna. Therefore its area reduction is 23.2 %. Furthermore, a linear and circular polarized baseball-shaped circular microstrip antenna is designed to minimize the patch size of the antenna. This structure of antenna operating at the design frequency 1.575 GHz is applied with the optimum RC(Raised Carving part) & DC ratio and an asymptotic line angle. In case of linear polarized baseball-shaped circular microstrip antenna, the patch size of the antenna is 74 mm, which is 41.8 % area reduction compared to general microstrip patch antenna. In case of circular polarized baseball-shaped circular microstrip antenna, the diameter of patch is 82 mm, which is 28.5 % area reduction compare to general microstrip patch antenna linear polarized. We have verified that the perturbation effect can be applied to minimize the circular microstrip antenna.

This paper makes a study of a formulation of net filter discrimination(NFD) and its computation for analyzing adjacent channel interference and suggests a systematic algorithm for calculating protection ratios of co-channel and adjacent channel applicable to frequency coordination in the fixed radio relay networks. It is shown that adjacent channel protection ratio can be derived from two factors: One is NFD depending upon receiver filter characteristic as well as transmitter spectrum mask and the other is co-channel protection ratio given by a function of fade margin, modulation scheme, and allowable interference. Actually to show the computing procedure from transmitter spectrum mask and receiver filter characteristic, NFD has been obtained for channel bandwidth of 29.65 and 40 MHz at 6.2 and 6.7 GHz band, respectively. According to the results, NFDs at the first adjacent channel of 29.65 and 40 MHz provide 27.4 and 28.9 dB, respectively. From these data, adjacent channel protection ratios corresponding to each channel bandwidth yield 47.5 and 46.3 dB for a given 64-QAM and 60 km. The proposed method gives some merits of an easy calculation, systematic extension, and applying the same concept to frequency coordination in millimeter radio relay networks.
There are various researches on mobile robot systems. Connection method between server and client of mobile robot system is one of them. In the case of mobile robot system, when connection method between server and client is wireless than wire, applications may be expanded. Also in remote monitoring environment using mobile robot system, we are interested in an effective transmission of the image information between server and client. In this paper, Bluetooth is used for connection method between server and client. One of the major applications of Bluetooth is the cable replacement for mobile and peripheral devices. Using Bluetooth, we propose the control method of mobile robot system. Bluetooth offers fast and reliable transmissions of both voice and data over the globally available 2.4GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical) band. It has the advantage of small size, low power and low cost. It has the disadvantage of limited range and limited bandwidth. Also in order to transfer effectively image information between remote site(server) and mobile robot system(client) using Bluetooth, we applied to MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 image compression techniques and the results are compared with each other.
Vertical nanowire SGFETs(Surrounding Gate Field Effect Transistors) provide full gate control over the channel to eliminate short channel effects. This paper presents design and characterization of a differential pair amplifier using NMOS and PMOS SGFETs with a 10nm channel length and a 2nm channel radius. The amplifier dissipates $5{\mu}W$ power and provides 5THz bandwidth with a voltage gain of 16, a linear output voltage swing of 0.5V, and a distortion better than 3% from a 1.8V power supply and a 20aF capacitive load. The 2nd and 3rd order harmonic distortions of the amplifier are -40dBm and -52dBm, respectively, and the 3rd order intermodulation is -24dBm for a two-tone input signal with 10mV amplitude and 10GHz frequency spacing. All these parameters indicate that vertical nanowire surrounding gate transistors are promising candidates for the next generation high speed analog and VLSI technologies.
Buried-heterostructure lasers are more difficult to fabricate than weakly index guided or gain guided lasers. However, these strongly index guided structures are most suitable for a source of lightwave transmission systems. But, for conventional etched mesa buried heterostructure lasers, the regrowth of InP blocking layer is difficult and irreproducible. So, there are inevitable leakage currents flowing outside the active region resulting poor performance. To eliminate these problems, we used a planar buried heterostructure. As a results, the average threshold current was 28mA and the differential quantum efficiency was about 20% per facet for $1.3\mum$ GaInAsP/InP PBH-LD. The initial forward leakage current was not exceeding $1\muA$ and the reverse voltage for $-10\muA$ was -3V~-5V, these are improved figure of 1mA~10mA and -1V~-3V for EMBH laser diode. The chip modulation bandwidth was more than 2.4GHz for $1.5I_th$.

In this paper, we proposed to a new structure of T-shaped fed microstrip slot antenna using 2-layers dielectric material with a directional radiation characteristic. When the slot antenna of bi-directional radiation want to radiate only one direction, the reflector must be set up, but this antenna does'nt need set up reflector. T-shaped microstrip feed line is proposed for a better impedance matching to the microstrip slot antenna in a various range of slot widths. It was also found that the bandwidth of this antenna is proportional to the slot width. It was also found that the radiation resistance of this feed line structure is quite constant and low regardless to the slot width. We also analyzed this antenna by using the FDTD method, and calculating waves and electric field distribution in the time domain. we also are calculated return loss, VSWR, and radiation pattern in the frequency domain by Fourier transforming the time domain results, respectively. From the measured results, bandwidth was 34.8% in the center frequency. These results were in relatively good accordance with the calculated values.

In this paper, we introduce a modified short-circuited stub bandpass filter suitable for ultra-wideband(UWB) applications utilizing low temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) technology. By modifying the conventional short-circuited stub bandpass filter structure with stubs and connecting lines of lower characteristic impedances, the number of stubs has been reduced from 5 to 2 on a high dielectric constant substrate($\varepsilon_r$ = 40). A wireless local area network (WLAN) stopband in the frequency range of 5.15 to 5.825 GHz has been inserted into the filter characteristic using three short-circuited coupled lines. The filter has been measured with an insertion loss less than 1.0 dB and return loss better than 10 dB in the pass bands. A bandwidth ratio of 109.49 % has been achieved. Measurement results agree well with simulation results. The dimensions of the filter are $4{\times}8{\times}0.57\;mm^3$.
This paper presents a novel simple filter design method based on a parallel short-ended coupled-line structure with capacitive loading for size reduction and ultra-broad rejection of spurious passbands. In addition, the introduction of a cross-coupling capacitor into the miniaturized coupled-line can create a transmission zero at the second harmonic frequency for better frequency selectivity and attenuation level. The aperture compensation technique is also applied to achieve a strong coupling in the coupled-line section. The influence of using the connecting transmission line to cascade two identical one-stage filters is studied for the first time. Specifically, such a two-stage bandpass filter operating at 2.3 GHz with a fractional bandwidth of 10% was designed and realized with low-temperature co-fired ceramic technology for application in base stations that need high power handling capability. It achieved attenuation in excess of -40 dB up to $4f_0$ and low insertion loss of -1.2 dB with the size of 10 mm ${\times}$ 7 mm ${\times}$ 2.2 mm. The measured and simulated results showed good agreement.

The antenna array for receiving satellite broadcasting of Koreasat III is proposed. A cavity-backed slot antenna array is proposed to reduce feed line loss, increase the radiation efficiency, and make the feed network simple. A sub-array consists of $2{\times}4$ slot elements backed by a single cavity. By proper choice of dimensions it is shown that the proposed antenna has characteristics of the high radiation efficiency and the broad frequency bandwidth. Antenna characteristics for the array antenna with 256 elements are measured in Ku-band. A single cavity backed-sub-array has the gain of 18 dEi. The gam of the total antenna array(256 elements) is Over 33 dEi.
To develop the grain moisture meter using microwave free space transmission technique, a 10.5GHz microwave signal with the power of 11mW generated by an oscillar with a dielectric resonator is transmitted to an isolator and radiated from a transmitting $2{\times}2$ microstrip patch array antenna into the sample holder filled with the 12 to 26%w.b. of Korean Hwawung paddy rice. the microwave signal, attenuated through the grain with moisture, is collected by a receiving $2{\times}2$ microstrip patch array antenna and detected using a Shottky diode with excellent high frequency characteristic. A pair of light and simple microstrip patch array antenna for measurement of grain moisture content is designed and implemented on atenflon substrate with trleative dielectric constant of 2.6 and thickness of 0.54 by using Ensemble ver. 4.02 software. The aperture of microstrip patch arrays is 41 mm width and 24mm high. The characteristics of microstrip patch antenna such as grain. return loss, and bandwidth are 11.35dBi, -38dB and 0.35GHz($50^{\circ}$ at far-field pattern of E and H plane. The width of the sample holder is large enough to cover the signal between the antennas temperature and bulk density respectively. The calibration model for measurement of grain moisture content is proposed to reduce the effects of fluectuations in bulk density and temperature which give serious errors for the measurements . From the results of regression analysis using the statistically analysis method, the moisture content of grain samples (MC(%)) is expressed in terms of the output voltage(v), temperature (t), and bulk density of samples(${\rho}b$)as follows ;$$MC(%)\;=\;(-3.9838{\times}10^{-8}{\times}v^{3}+8.023{\times}10^{-6}{\times}v^{2}-0.0011{\times}v-0.0004{\times}t+0.1706){\frac{1}{{\rho}b}}{\times}100$ Its determination coefficient, standard error of prediction(SEP) and bias were found to be 0.9855, 0.479%w.b. and -0.0.369 %w.b. respectively between measured and predicted moisture contents of the grain samples.
