도파관식 고출력 헬륨 플라즈마의 개발과 분광학적 특성 연구 (Development and spectroscopic characteristics of the high-power wave guide He Plasma)

  • 기존의 Okamoto cavity를 변형시킨 WR-340 도파관을 사용한 cavity를 제작하고 고출력(2.45 GHz, 2 kW)의 헬륨, 질소 및 아르곤 마이크로파 플라즈마(MIP; Microwave Induced Plasma)를 성공적으로 형성시켰다. 플라즈마 생성의 주요한 요인들은 내부전도체의 직경과 내부전도체와 외부전도체간의 간격, 내부전도체 끝과 토치의 위치 등이 있으며 그 중 헬륨 마이크로파 플라즈마에 대하여 cavity의 디자인을 최적화시키고 그 특성을 조사하였다. ICP(Inductively Coupled Plasma)용 mini 토치와 자체 제작한 나선형흐름토치를 비교 연구한 결과, 헬륨 플라즈마 기체 흐름량은 약 25 L/min~30 L/min로서 서로 비슷하였다. 토치 상단부에 석영관을 덧씌워 공기유입을 막은 결과, 340 nm 근처의 NH분자선들이 없어지거나 감소하였다. 플라즈마의 온도 및 전자밀도를 측정한 결과, 4,350 K의 들뜸 온도와 $3.67{\times}10^{11}/cm^3$의 전자밀도를 얻었다. 이 값들은 기존의 다른 마이크로파 플라즈마와 비슷하거나 약간 작은 값이다. 고출력의 플라즈마로서 수용액을 직접 분석하는 것이 가능하였고 현재 Cl의 검출한계는 116 mg/L 수준으로서 아직 분석적인 최적화가 필요한 단계이다.

Microwave Dielectric Properties of Low Temperature Fired (${Pb_{0.45}}{Ca_{0.55}}$) [(${Fe _{0.5}}{Nb_{0.5}}$)$_{0.9}{Sn_{0.1}}$]$O_3$Ceramics with Various Additives

  • The effect of CuO, $B_2$ $O_3$, $V_2$ $O_{5}$ and CuO-B $i_2$ $O_3$additives on microwave dielectric properties of (P $b_{0.45}$C $a_{0.55}$) [(F $e_{0.5}$N $b_{0.5}$)$_{0.9}$S $n_{0.1}$] $O_3$(PCFNS) were investigated. The PCFNS ceramics were sintered at 11$65^{\circ}C$. To decrease the sintering temperature for using as a low-temperature co-firing ceramics (LTCC), CuO, $B_2$ $O_3$, $V_2$ $O_{5}$ and CuO-B $i_2$ $O_3$were added to the PCFNS. As the content of CuO increased, the sintered density and dielectric constant increased and the temperature coefficient of resonance frequency ($\tau$$_{f}$) shifted to the positive value. When the CuO-B $i_2$ $O_3$were added, dielectric properties were $\varepsilon$$_{r}$ of 83, Q. $f_{0}$ of 6085 GHz, and $\tau$$_{f}$ of 8ppm/$^{\circ}C$ at a sintering temperature of 100$0^{\circ}C$. The relationship between the microstructure and properties of ceramics was studied by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.icroscopy.y.icroscopy.y.

초고주파 가열치료를 위한 MR 호환 동축 슬롯 안테나의 개발 (Development of MR Compatible Coaxial-slot Antenna for Microwave Hyperthermia)

  • MR compatible coaxial-slot antenna for microwave hyperthermia was developed while its structure and size of each part were determined by computer simulation using finite element method(FEM). Its local heating performance was evaluated using tissue-mimic phantom and swine muscles. 2% agarose gel mixed with 6mM/$\ell$ $MnCl_2$ as a biological tissue-mimic phantom was heated by the proposed antenna driven by a 2.45GHz microwave generator. The temperature changes of the phantom were monitored using multi-channel digital thermometer at the distance of 0mm, 5mm, 10mm and 20mm from the tip center of the antenna. Also muscle tissue of swine was heated for 2 and 5minutes with 50W and 30W of microwave generator powers, respectively, to evaluate the local heating performance of the antenna. MRI compatibility was also verified by acquiring MR images and MR temperature map. MR signals were acquired from the agarose gel phantom using $T2^*$ GRE sequence with 1.5T clinical MRI scanner(Signa Echospeed, GE, Milwaukee, WI, U.S.A.) at Pusan Paik Hospital and were transferred to PC in order to reconstruct MR images and temperature map using proton resonance frequency(PRF) method and laboratory-developed phase unwrapping algorithm. Authors found that it has no severe distortion due to the antenna inserted into the phantom. Finally, we can conclude that the suggested coaxial-slot antenna has an excellent local heating performance for both of tissue-mimic phantom and swine muscle, and it is compatible to 1.5T MRI scanner.

전자파 조사 흰쥐 간조직의 Mixed Function Oxidase System과 산화적 손상에 미치는 Catechin의 영향 (Effects of Catechin on Mixed Function Oxidase System and Oxidative Damage in Rat Liver Exposed to Microwave)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of catechin on the changes of microsomal mixed function oxidase(MFO) system and oxidative damage in rat liver exposed to microwave. Sprague-Dawley male rats weighing 200$\pm$10g body weight were randomly assigned to one normal and microwave exposed groups: microwave exposed groups were divided three groups: catechin free diet(MW) group, 0.25% catechin(MW+0.25C) group and 0.5% catechin(MW+0.5C) group to the levels of dietary catechin supplementation. The rats were irradiated with microwave at frequency 2.45GHz for 15 min and then the changes pattern of mixed function oxidase system and oxidative damage were investigated for 16 days. The activity of XOD in MW group was increased from 4 day to 8 days after irradiation, compared to normal group and decreased to the level of normal group 16 days. But catechin supplementation group were maintained to the normal level. The contents of cytochrome P(sub)450 and NADPH cytochrome P(sub)450 reductase activities in liver of MW group was increased from 4 day to 8 day after irradiation, compared to normal group and decreased to the level of normal group at 16 day. But catechin supplementation group were recovered to the normal level. The contents of superoxide radical in liver of MW group was increased 1.28, 1.25, 1.17 fold of normal group at 4,6 and 8 days days after irradiation. respectively, but catechin supplementation group were maintained the normal level. The contents of lipifuscin in liver have a same tendency in superoxide radical contents. These result suggested that the supplementation of catechin have control the mixed function oxidase system and oxidative damage and that may help to recover tissues from microwave damage. 3-dB Coupler Tuner를 이용한 초고주파 발진기의 출력 정합회로 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design of Microwave Oscillator Output Matching Circuit Using 3-dB Coupler Tuner)

  • 일반적으로 발진기 설계에서 출력에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 부분이 출력단 정합부분인데 기존의 출력단 정합 방법은 스미스차트의 무한대 임피던스 근방에서 정합회로를 설계해야 하므로 최적의 출력 정합회로를 구현해 주기가 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 초고주파 발진기를 설계하는데 있어서 보다 쉽게 최대 발진출력을 얻기 위한 출력단 정합방법에 관하여 연구하였다. 출력단이 정합되지 않은 발진기에 3-dB Coupler Tuner를 연결하고 발진기가 동작하고 있는 상태에서 Tuner 의 가변 단락회로를 조정하여 최대출력이 나오는 지점을 확인하고, Tuner의 S 파라미터를 측정한 후 이를 마이 크로스트립으로 구현하는 벙법을 이용하여 최대 발진출력이 나오는 발진기를 쉽게 설계 제작할 수 있었다. 본 논문에서 제안한 방법으로 설계 제작한 발진기 출력과 기존 정합방법에 의한 발진기 출력을 비교해 보면, 기존의 정합방법에 의한 발진기 출력은 발진주파수 1.0338 GHz에서 6.45 dBm을 나타내었고, 본 논문에서 제시 한 방법으로 제작된 발진기의 출력은 9.71 dBm으로 기존의 정합방법에 의한 발진기 출력보다 3.26 dBm 높은 출력을 나타내었다.

  • An apparatus for generating flames and more particularly the microwave plasma burner for generating high-temperature large-volume plasma flame was presented. The plasma burner was composed of micvrowave transmission lines, a field applicator, discharge tube, coal and gas supply systems, and a reactor. The plasma burner is operated by injecting coal powders into a 2.45 GHz microwave plasma torch and by mixing the resultant gaseous hydrogen and carbon compounds with plasma-forming gas. We in this work used air, oxygen, steam, and their mixtures as a discharge gas or oxidant gas. The microwave plasma torch can instantaneously vaporize and decompose the hydrogen and carbon containing fuels. It was observed that the flame volume of the burner was more than 50 times that of the torch plasma. The preliminary experiments were carried out by measuring the temperature profiles of flames along the radial and axial directions. We also investigated the characteristics for coal combustion and gasification by analyzing the byproducts from the exit of reactor. As expected, various byproducts such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, etc. were detected. It is expected that such burner cab be applied to coal gasification, hydrocarbon reforming, industrial boiler of power plants, etc.

Relationships between dielectric properties and characteristics of impregnated and activated samples of potassium carbonate-and sodium hydroxide-modified palm kernel shell for microwave- assisted activation

  • The aim of this work was to evaluate the dielectric properties of impregnated and activated palm kernel shells (PKSs) samples using two activating agents, potassium carbonate ($K_2CO_3$) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH), at three impregnation ratios. The materials were characterized by moisture content, carbon content, ash content, thermal profile and functional groups. The dielectric properties were examined using an open-ended coaxial probe method at various microwave frequencies (1-6 GHz) and temperatures (25, 35, and $45^{\circ}C$). The results show that the dielectric properties varied with frequency, temperature, moisture content, carbon content and mass ratio of the ionic solids. PKSK1.75 (PKS impregnated with $K_2CO_3$ at a mass ratio of 1.75) and PKSN1.5 (PKS impregnated with NaOH at a mass ratio of 1.5) exhibited a high loss tangent ($tan{\delta}$) indicating the effectiveness of these materials to be heated by microwaves. $K_2CO_3$ and NaOH can act as a microwave absorber to enhance the efficiency of microwave heating for low loss PKSs. Materials with a high moisture content exhibit a high loss tangent but low penetration depth. The interplay of multiple operating frequencies is suggested to promote better microwave heating by considering the changes in the materials characteristics.

  • PIN 다이오드를 利用한 反射形 移相器는 4端子網 임피던스 變換回路로 構成될 수 있는데 원하는 移相量을 얻기위한 設計方程式 誘導에 假想 임피던스法을 적용하였다. 실제로 2-bit($22.5^{\circ}$$45^{\circ}$)하이브리드 移相器를 設計 具現하여 中心周波數(10GHz)에서 $22.5^{\circ}$bit는 $0.5^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$bit는 $0^{\circ}$의 移相量 誤差의 것을 얻었으며 main beam 制御用 phased-array안테나를 위한 移相器設計에 이 方法을 사용할 수 있음을 立證하였다.

Direction of Tissue Contraction after Microwave Ablation: A Comparative Experimental Study in Ex Vivo Bovine Liver

  • Objective: This study aimed to investigate the direction of tissue contraction after microwave ablation in ex vivo bovine liver models. Materials and Methods: Ablation procedures were conducted in a total of 90 sites in ex vivo bovine liver models, including the surface (n = 60) and parenchyma (n = 30), to examine the direction of contraction of the tissue in the peripheral and central regions from the microwave antenna. Three commercially available 2.45-GHz microwave systems (Emprint, Neuwave, and Surblate) were used. For surface ablation, the lengths of two overlapped square markers were measured after 2.5- and 5-minutes ablations (n = 10 ablations for each system for each ablation time). For parenchyma ablation, seven predetermined distances between the markers were measured on the cutting plane after 5- and 10-minutes ablations (n = 5 ablations for each system for each ablation time). The contraction in the radial and longitudinal directions and the sphericity index (SI) of the ablation zones were compared between the three systems using analysis of variance. Results: In the surface ablation experiment, the mean longitudinal contraction ratio and SI from a 5-minutes ablation using the Emprint, Neuwave, and Surblate systems were 28.92% and 1.04, 20.10% and 0.53, and 24.90% and 0.45, respectively (p < 0.001). A positive correlation between longitudinal contraction and SI was noted, and a similar radial contraction was observed. In the parenchyma ablation experiment, the mean longitudinal contraction ratio and SI from a 10-minutes ablation using the three pieces of equipment were 38.60% and 1.06, 32.45% and 0.61, and 28.50% and 0.50, respectively (p < 0.001). There was a significant difference in the longitudinal contraction properties, whereas there was no significant difference in the radial contraction properties. Conclusion: The degree of longitudinal contraction showed significant differences depending on the microwave ablation equipment, which may affect the SI of the ablation zone.

마이크로파 유전체 Bi0.97Tm0.03NbO4의 V2O5 첨가에 따른 유전특성 (The Microwave Dielectric Properties of Bi0.97Tm0.03NbO4 Doped with V2O5)

  • The microwave dielectric properties and the microstructures on B $i_{0.97}$T $m_{0.03}$Nb $O_4$ doped with $V_2$ $O_{5}$ were systematically investigated. B $i_{0.97}$T $m_{0.03}$Nb $O_4$ ceramics sintered at 920-96$0^{\circ}C$ were mainly consisted of orthorhombic and triclinic phases after addition of $V_2$ $O_{5}$. The apparent density increased slightly with increasing the $V_2$ $O_{5}$ addition. The dielectric constants($\varepsilon$$_{r}$) also increased with $V_2$ $O_{5}$ addition(30-45). The Q${\times}$ $f_{0}$ values measured on B $i_{0.97}$T $m_{0.03}$Nb $O_4$ ceramics doped with $V_2$ $O_{5}$ were between 2,000 and 12,000[GHz] when the sintering temperatures were in the range of 920-960[$^{\circ}C$]. It was confirmed that the temperature coefficient of the resonant frequency($\tau$$_{f}$) can be adjusted from a positive value of +10ppm/$^{\circ}C$ to a negative value of -15ppm/$^{\circ}C$ by increasing the amount of $V_2$ $O_{5}$ Based on our experimental results, the B $i_{0.97}$T $m_{0.03}$Nb $O_4$(added $V_2$ $O_{5}$) ceramics can be applied to multilayer microwave devices at low sintering temperatures.ng temperatures.emperatures.ratures.
