Purpose: This study examined the effects of death perception, terminal care stress, and resilience on the terminal care performance of clinical nurses. Methods: As a correlational study, this study conducted a survey total of 189 nurses working at K university hospital and a P university hospital in B metropolitan city for six months or more. The data was collected from August 20th, 2020 to September 15th, 2020. Data were analyzed using the SPSS, Windows version 25.0, according to the purpose of the analysis by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple linear regression. Results: The factors having effects on the terminal care performance of subjects were resilience, perception of death, and the experience of terminal care education. The total explanatory power of those variables on the terminal care performance was 21.0%. Conclusion: For the improvement of terminal care performance, it would be necessary to develop a systematic and professional terminal care education program that could increase the positive perception of death and resilience, and also include knowledge and skills necessary for terminal care. Also, the efficiency of terminal care performance should be increased through periodic terminal care-related nursing education.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the influences of death perception, terminal care attitude on clinical nurses' terminal care performance for cancer patients. Methods: Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires filled by 526 nurses at a General Hospital in Seoul. Data were analyzed using a multiple regression analysis. Results: Death perception showed a positive correlation with terminal care attitude (r = .45, p < .001), while there was no correlation with terminal care performance. Additionally, terminal care attitude had a positive correlation with terminal care performance (r = .18, p < .001). The explanatory power of nurses' death perception and terminal care attitude toward terminal care performance was 14%. Conclusions: The study results imply that nurses' death perception and terminal care attitude are significant variables affecting terminal care performance.
We present a technique for measuring low resistance ranges of a decade resistor with a 4-Terminal connection. With the technique the accuracy of 0.8 % was obtained for a 1 $m{\Omega}$ resistance of the decade resistor. We suggested a proper pattern 4-Terminal measurement results with several 4-Terminal pattern and adapters. Additionally, we should that precise measurements for low resistance can be made usung a digital multimeter(DMM) only.
Small conductance calcium-activated potassium channels (or SKCa channels) are potassium selective, voltage-independent, and activated by intracellular calcium concentration. These channels play important roles in excitable cells such as neuron in the central nervous system (Vergara et al., 1998). The activity of SKCa channels underlies the slow afterhyperpolarization that inhibits neuronal cell firing (Hille, 1991; Vergara et al.,1998). Until now, N-terminal region of rSK2 isn't characterized. To study the role of N-terminus, we constructed the N-terminal deletion mutant and characterized by electrophysiological means. Interestingly, N-terminal deletion mutant be trafficked to membrane couldn't evoke any ionic currents. Thus, N-terminal region has a role in functional rSK2 channel formation. To elucidate the function of N-terminal region, (His)6-conjugated protein was purified and filtrated by affinity column chromatography. Surprisingly, N-terminal region was shown in tetramer size that was supported by cross-linking result. Thus, we predicted that N-terminal region might be involved in the tetramerization of rSK2.
BEST family is a class of Ca2+-activated Cl- channels evolutionary well conserved from bacteria to human. The human BEST paralogs (BEST1-BEST4) share significant amino acid sequence homology in the N-terminal region, which forms the transmembrane helicases and contains the direct calcium-binding site, Ca2+-clasp. But the cytosolic C-terminal region is less conserved in the paralogs. Interestingly, this domain-specific sequence conservation is also found in the BEST1 orthologs. However, the functional role of the C-terminal region in the BEST channels is still poorly understood. Thus, we aimed to understand the functional role of the C-terminal region in the human and mouse BEST1 channels by using electrophysiological recordings. We found that the calcium-dependent activation of BEST1 channels can be modulated by the C-terminal region. The C-terminal deletion hBEST1 reduced the Ca2+-dependent current activation and the hBEST1-mBEST1 chimera showed a significantly reduced calcium sensitivity to hBEST1 in the HEK293 cells. And the C-terminal domain could regulate cellular expression and plasma membrane targeting of BEST1 channels. Our results can provide a basis for understanding the C-terminal roles in the structure-function of BEST family proteins.
(Kim and Richardson, J. Biol. Chem., 1992;1994). 또한,GST2.5(WT)는 gene 4 protein(helicase/primase)와 직접 상호작용을 하나.
The awareness of the high-value industry for container terminal leads competitiveness of container terminals to keep high fiercely. In regards to competitive factors of container terminal, the most important point among several factors is seemed to be the speed of container loading and unloading on quayside. In container terminals in Korea, the productivity shows big difference even though its condition is similar to each terminal. The objective of this paper is to find the critical factors of container terminal productivity, which is dependant upon the capability, quantity of quay crane, transfer vehicle, and so on. For this purpose, we have researched related literatures, and collected data about container terminals in South Korea. Furthermore, we tested sensitive analysis to evaluate the extent of productivity by changing independent variable. And then we established the regression model to evaluate which factor has had the biggest impact on productivity. The results of this paper can give terminal operators guideline to improve productivity.
This research studies the adequate size standard of Seogwipo cruise terminal CIQ facility that is scheduled to be built around Gangjeong harbor area in Seogwipo-city. In order to respond to the highly increasing number of passenger cruise ships compared to Seogwipo cruise terminal design in 2010, the adequate size standard of Seogwipo cruise terminal CIQ facility was examined for passenger service level grade. Based on size computation elements such as the number of passengers of cruise ships with the largest size of port entry, ship landing rate, passenger processing ratio, and surge factor, the CIQ facility size for each service level grade was reviewed. As a result, the area of 2,971m2 (A grade), 2,409 m2 (B grade), and 2,088 m2 (C grade) were computed. This showed that the area of B grade was about 82% and C grade 70% compared to the area of A grade. The CIQ facility size computed for each service level grade in this research was analyzed that its area needed to be increased by 322% at least and 458% at most, compared to the CIQ facility area of 649m2 of the existing design (2010). In order to respond to the increasing number of cruise passengers, provide high-level passenger service, and improve the international image of Jeju, Seogwipo cruise terminal should secure the size that is equal to or higher than the B grade of service level.
Purpose: This study developed a structural model for explaining and predicting terminal care performance in long-term care hospital nurses. The model was based on the stress integration model of Ivancevich and Matteson(1980) and the results of previous studies. Method: Data was obtained from August to September 2022 from 267 nurses in 13 long-term care hospitals in G-do. Results: Results of model verification for this study, revealed that factors directly affecting the terminal care performance of long-term care hospital nurses were nursing work environment(β=0.43, p<0.001), death anxiety(β=-0.29, p<0.001), and terminal care stress(β=0.22, p=0.003). However, the attitude toward nursing care of dying(β=0.07, p=0.287) had no effect on the terminal care performance. Conclusion: The results of this study, confirmed the necessity of improving an individual's perceived nursing work environment, continuous education related to terminal care to reduce death anxiety, and an interventional approach for enhancing terminal care performance.
