  • In this paper, We have simulated and measured the characteristics of the static thrust of 2-phase PM type Linear Stepping Motor(LSM). And, the 2-phase PM type Linear Stepping Motor is simulated using 2-Dimensional finite element method. For calculating force, Maxwell stress tensor method is applied.

  • This paper presents a new two-phase linear hybrid stepping motors (LHSM), which has two windings per phase and one of them shares the other phase winding. The proposed motor shows a unique ability to deliver low cogging force without any particular complex control scheme and additional power electronics hardware in micro stepping control. An analytical and experimental comparison between conventional and proposed LHSM is evaluated to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed design.

  • This paper proposes a method related to fault tolerance operation and characteristic analysis of asymmetric 6-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor. In general, motor drive systems with multi-phase structures can be continuously operated despite a reduction of power and speed by using a phase changeover or control techniques according to the failures. As a result, it is widely used in industrial fields such as aviation and defense, which require high efficiency and high reliability. In this paper, the second order ripple of the electrical fundamental freuqnecy occurs in the dq-axis currents of the synchronous coordinate system through mathematical analysis according to the switch open of the dual 3-phase inverter. Therefore, the fault tolerant operation method is presented by applying the fault detection method with a constant cycle for continuous operations. The effectiveness of the proposed fault tolerance operation method is verified through the several experiments.

브러시리스 직류전동기의 파라미터 동정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Parameter Identification of a Brushless DC Motor)

  • 본 논문에서는 마이크로 컴퓨터를 이용하여 3상 및 2상 브러시리스 직류전동기의 파라미터를 동정하는 시스템을 개발하였다. 3상 및 2상 브러시리스 직류전동기의 역기전력파형으로부터 역기전력 관계수식을 구하였다. 그리고 직류 서어브 전동기에서 적용된 Pasek의 조건식이 3상 및 2상 브러시리스 직류전동기에 있어서도 성립함을 입증하여 파라미터의 산출이 가능함을 밝혔다. 전기자전역곡선상의 잡음성분으로 인한 오차를 제거하기 위해 디지털 평균법을 적용하였고, 파라미터 산출절차와 알고리즘을 프로그램함으로써 파라미터의 측정을 완전 자동화하였다. 그리고 제안된 방법으로 산출된 파라미터가 참 파라미터인가를 확인하기 위해, 관계식에 대입하여 얻어진 계산된 전류곡선과 디지털 평균된 전류곡선을 비교한 결과, 잘 일치하였다.

  • This paper describes the design of a 2-phase stepping motor driver using CPLD. The driver IC such as L297, which is mostly used has some difficulties in PWM current control because of the switching noise of power MOSFETs. The switching noise causes current ripple and acoustic noise. To reduce the switching noise, we designed a digital filter using VHDL. Also we designed constant current method for 1-2 phase(half step) excitation to reduce the torque ripple. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed method. It is enabling further enhancements of stepping motor drive technology broadening the range of applications for the stepping motors.

  • This paper presents motor speed and phase angle detection method using a sinusoidal AC tachogenerator. The 2-phase or 3-phase output tacho-generator can be adopted, and its' output voltages must have sinusoidal waveforms. Because the detection algorithm is simple, the proposed method can be implemented with analog devices of microprocessor conveniently. And the proposed method has a very short detection delay time. Especially in the analog implementation, there is no delay time without the settling time of analog devices. With the Experimental results, it is verified that the proposed method can accurately detect the instantaneous motor speed and phase over the wide ranges.

  • In this paper, the windmill type ultrasonic motors with 11.35 mm diameter, 2.87 mm thickness of metal endcap and 1.47 g weight were fabricated. Effects of slots and thickness on torque characteristic in the windmill type ultrasonic motor were investigated, when stator's slots were changed from 4, 6, 8 and thickness 0.15 mm, respectively. Specially designed metal endcaps with windmill shaped cutting can provide longitudinal and torsional displacements simultaneously as the ceramic disk vibrates radically. The windmill type ultrasonic motor has only three components: a stator element with windmill shape slotted metal endcap, a rotor and bearing. Ultrasonic motor stimulated to ultrasonic oscillations by piezoelectrics to drive a rotor via friction contact. The ultrasonic motor fabricated here was the windmill type ultrasonic motor operated by single-phase AC source. Bidirectional revolution using single-phase high frequency for driving the ultrasonic motor was presented.

  • Inherent speed-torque performance of Switched Reluctance Motor is similar to that of series wound DC motor. Thus, the speed of the motor is extremely regulated according to load torque. For the purpose of controlling the speed and torque of SRM it is necessary to change the applied DC link voltage or the switch-ON and switch-OFF angles which control the phase current of the motor. This paper describes speed-torque characteristics of an integral horse power Switched Reluctance Motor by adjusting the switch-ON and switch-OFF angles. Speed at rated load torque can be regulated by adjusting the switching angles and the control scheme is applied to 2kW, 3 phase, 6/4 SRM.

  • In this paper, In the whole industry, there is a tendency to replace brushless motors with brushless motors because of the high rate of failure in DC motors with brushes. Accordingly, many methods for driving a brushless motor have been developed and studied. In order to drive the brushless motor, it is essential to know the information about the rotor position of the motor. However, it is not possible to use a position sensor for rotor disconnection due to the structure of an electric compressor brushless DC motor. In this paper, we investigate the rotor position of the motor by using the counter electromotive force included in the voltage of the terminal made by Y connection by using the resistance of each phase without using Hall sensor or encoder generally used to detect the rotor position. A sensorless drive system for a square wave brushless direct current (DC) motor is proposed. To do this, we propose a method to detect the rotor position from the analyzed terminal voltage waveform by performing terminal voltage analysis of each phase for 3-phase, 2-exciton unipolar PWM.
