Runoff Characteristics of Non-point Source Pollutants from Road Area During Rainfall Events (강우시 도로지역 비점오염물질 유출특성)

  • 본 연구에서는 강우시 도로지역에서 발생하는 비점오염물질 유출 및 수질특성을 살펴보고자 도로지역(국도 46호선)을 대상으로 총 16회의 강우사상에 대해 분석하였다. 모니터링 기간(2014년 5월~9월)동안 연구대상지역에는 3.2~80.3 mm의 강우가 발생하였으며, 강우강도는 0.39~11.29 mm/hr의 범위로 나타났다. 선행무강우일수는 0.3~20.1일이며, 총 유출량은 0.1~6.8 ㎥, 유출율은 0.24~0.85(평균 0.6)의 범위로 나타났다. 강우 모니터링 결과, 유량가중평균농도(Event Mean Concentration, EMC)는 TOC 4.9~56.2 mg/L(평균 18.0 mg/L), BOD 3.1~21.5 mg/L(평균 7.5 mg/L), COD 6.7~58.6 mg/L(평균 23.6 mg/L), SS 2.1~281.9 mg/L(평균 59.4 mg/L), T-N 1.07~13.46 mg/L(평균 4.89 mg/L) 그리고 T-P 0.065~0.680 mg/L(평균 0.23 mg/L)의 범위로 나타났으며, 강우계급별로 살펴보면 0~10 mm일 때 BOD 9.3 mg/L, COD 30.5 mg/L, SS 84.1 mg/L, T-N 5.42 mg/L, T-P 0.27 mg/L로, 10~30 mm일 때 BOD 6.6 mg/L, COD 22.0 mg/L, SS 29.0 mg/L, T-N 4.9 mg/L, T-P 0.20 mg/L로, 50 mm 이상의 강우에서는 BOD 3.6 mg/L, COD 7.1 mg/L, SS 46.4 mg/L, T-N 3.42 mg/L, T-P 0.10 mg/L로 강우계급별 EMC는 대부분 수질항목에 있어 10 mm 이하 계급의 평균 EMC가 높은 수준으로 나타났다. 그리고 각 강우사상에 대한 단위면적당 오염부하는 TOC 0.06~3.5 kg/ha, $BOD_5$ 0.03~1.6 kg/ha, CODMn 0.09~4.74 kg/ha, SS 0.09~35.99 kg/ha, T-N 0.012~2.600 kg/ha, T-P 0.001~0.062 kg/ha의 범위로 산정되었다. 도로지역은 불투수층 면적비율이 높아 누적강우량 10 mm 이하에서도 유출이 발생하는 것으로 분석되었으며, 작은 강우에도 초기유출이 발생하고 유출되는 오염물질 농도가 높은 경향을 나타내었다.

3-dimensional finite element analysis of maxillary molar distalization using R-jig with TADs (TADs와 R-jig를 이용한 상악 구치 원심 이동에 관한 3차원 유한요소 분석)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of displacement pattern depending on type of sliding jig and application method during maxillary molar distalization with temporary anchorage devices (TADs). Materials and Methods: Maxilla with normal tooth size and arch shape was selected to create a 3-dimensional finite element model, which included the bracket, orthodontic main archwire, removable sliding jig (R-jig). The orthodontic mini-implant anchorage was set 8 mm superiorly from main archwire, buccally between the second premolar and first molar. The base experimental design was Condition 1, which was composed $0.019{\times}0.025$ inch stainless steel (SS) of wire size of R-jig, 200 gm force, un-tied state. And the other designs varied to wire size of R-jig, magnitude of force. The results are as follows. Results: As the wire size of R-jig was increased, the deformation of R-jig was decreased. However, the displacement of second molar wasn't different each other. As the force to second molar was increased, the more displacement of second molar was observed, and the more distal tipping movement, vetical displacement was observed. Conclusion: R-jig can get distal teeth movement in orthodontic treatment without side effects.

Finite-element investigation of the center of resistance of the maxillary dentition (상악 치아군의 저항중심의 위치에 관한 3차원 유한요소 해석)

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the 3-dimensional position of the center of resistance of the 4 maxillary anterior teeth, 6 maxillary anterior teeth, and the full maxillary dentition using 3-dimensional finite element analysis. Methods: Finite element models included the whole upper dentition, periodontal ligament, and alveolar bone. The crowns of the teeth in each group were fixed with buccal and lingual arch wires and lingual splint wires to minimize individual tooth movement and to evenly disperse the forces to the teeth. A force of 100 g or 200 g was applied to the wire beam extended from the incisal edge of the upper central incisor, and displacement of teeth was evaluated. The center of resistance was defined as the point where the applied force induced parallel movement. Results: The results of study showed that the center of resistance of the 4 maxillary anterior teeth group, the 6 maxillary anterior teeth group, and the full maxillary dentition group were at 13.5 mm apical and 12.0 mm posterior, 13.5 mm apical and 14.0 mm posterior, and 11.0 mm apical and 26.5 mm posterior to the incisal edge of the upper central incisor, respectively. Conclusions: It is thought that the results from this finite element models will improve the efficiency of orthodontic treatment.

Analysis of Noise Characteristics of Double and Single-layered Porous Pavement with CPX Method -National Route 1, Sejong-Si Section- (CPX방법에 의한 복층 및 단층 다공성포장의 소음특성 분석 -국도 1호선 세종시 구간-)

  • Road traffic noise is a major complaint. Porous pavement (PP) has been proposed as an effective method for reducing road traffic noise, but it has not been applied much due to the lack of quantitative evaluation. In this study, the noise reduction of single-layer porous pavement (SLPP) and double-layer porous pavement (DLPP) was evaluated. The noise was measured using the CPX method, and the driving speed was measured every 10km/h from 50km/h to 80km/h. The differences in noise level between the two PPs were statistically significant. The driving speed had no significant effect on the difference in noise between the two PPs. The DLPP showed a 6.6dB(A) reduction in average and a 6.3dB(A) reduction at the 95% confidence level compared to the SLPP. Reducing noise by 5dB(A) is equivalent to reducing traffic to 1/3 or lowering the vehicle's speed to 1/2. Sensitively, it is possible to recognize a 3dB(A) and 5dB(A) difference. The DLPP and SLPP were very effective in reducing traffic noise.

The Effect of Heat Sterilization on the Surface Topography and the Tensile Properties in Various Nickel Titanium Wires Including a Korean Product (열멸균과정이 nickel titanium호선의 기계적 성질과 표면상태에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the changes of mechanical properties and surface topography of various nickel titanium wires after heat sterilization for recycling with quantitative method. The materials used were four kinds of nickel titanium orthodontic wires including a Korean product. Experimental specimens were treated with two kinds of heat sterilization methods ; dry heat ($180^{\circ}C$, 60min) and autoclave ($121^{\circ}C$, 15-20psi, 30min). Mechanical properties were evaluated by tensile test with Instron 4466 (load cell capacity:.1000 kg, cross head speed:5mm/min, grip distince:40mm in room temperature). Surface topography of various wires was compared with each other qualitatively by using scanning electron microscopy and quantitatively by using profilometer. The findings were analyzed statistically with student t-tests. The results were as follows; 1. Neither method of heat sterilization had any effects on tensile properties of the nickel-titanium wires used in this experiment. 2. Before heat sterilization, the surface smoothness was highest in Optimalloy, followed by Align and Sentalloy, with NiTi showing the lowest smoothness value. 3. In surface topography, Align and Optimalloy were not influenced by heat sterilization. NiTi, on the other hand, had increased roughness after dry heat sterilization and Sentalloy showed the same tendency after each of the two heat sterilization procedures.

  • In Korea, despite much interest in real estate, it is not easy to predict prices. Because apartments are both residential spaces and investment materials. Key figures affecting the price of apartments vary widely, and there are also regional characteristics. This study was conducted to derive the factors and characteristics that affect the sale price of apartments in S City, Gyeonggi-do. In general, people diagnose that better subway accessibility leads to higher apartment sales price. Nevertheless, in the case of S City, the price was slightly lower as it was closer to Line 1, but the higher the subway accessibility at Shinbundang Line, the higher the price. The five-year average of government bonds and the price were inversely related, and it was found to be proportional to the M2 balance and the price. The floor area ratio and the total number of parking lots had a great influence on the price, and the presence of department stores and discount marts within 1.5 km were the most important factors in the area of cultural aspect.

  • Recently, Subway Line No. 9, described as a 'hell-like' subway for its recorded load factor of max. 240% due to the opening of the 2nd phase extension section, has been causing problems of recurrent congestion in a subway station building. A recurrent congestion in the station building becomes a factor to offend rail users and to reduce the efficiency of railway management. This study aims to establish the methodology for effect evaluation of information provided to rail users, and conducts a gate metering case study considering the congested conditions at a platform among the methodologies for effect evaluation. The metering effect evaluation by load factor was conducted through selecting the micro simulation and pedestrian simulation tool grafting a gate metering. As a result, it was confirmed that, if gate metering is performed, the service level and pedestrian density of a platform by load factor would improve. In other words, if metering is conducted at a platform, it is possible to control the load factor in the waiting space of a platform. Therefore, it was judged through this study that it is possible to set up the index for effect evaluation of information provided to manage congestion of rail users, and establish the methodology for effect evaluation of information provided to rail users through a program.

Environment Color of Public Sports Equipment Surroundings in Small Urban Parks - Focused on Seoul and Tokyo - (도시소공원의 사회체육시설 환경색채 연구 - 서울과 동경을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the color environment of urban small parks. We selected the urban small parks located in the subway stations around the line 2 and the Yamanote line in Seoul and Tokyo, and measured the environmental color with a spectroscopic colorimeter. Four urban parks, four urban parks, four urban parks, four urban parks, and four urban parks in Tokyo, and conducted field surveys. The study was divided into social sports facilities, park facilities and floor paved areas. The results of the study are as follows. The color of Y, YR, and GY colors were high in the environmental color of the first sports facilities in Seoul and Tokyo. In the case of Seoul, B, BG, PB, and Tokyo are R and P series, respectively. econd, in the case of social sports facilities, Tokyo has a different color distribution than Seoul, and Seoul has a somewhat higher brightness, so bright colors have been applied to the facilities. Third, the colors of park facilities showed similar brightness and saturation values in Seoul and Tokyo. In color distribution, Seoul is higher in Y-series and B-series, and Tokyo is higher in Y-series and R-series. The brightness and the saturation of the bottom pavement are similar to those of Seoul and Tokyo. However, the difference in color distribution shows that the color difference of the social facilities of urban small parks in Seoul and Tokyo varies depending on the color distribution rather than brightness and saturation.

Case study on slurry performance according to the recycling of slurry TBM filtrate water with coagulant (이수식 TBM의 응집제 사용수 재활용에 따른 슬러리 성능 연구)

  • The use of tunnel boring machine (TBM), a mechanized excavation method with low noise and vibration and high safety compared to NATM method, has increased globally. In particular, slurry shield TBMs are used in subsea and submarine sections because they have an advantage in high pressure compared to EPB (earth pressure balanced) methods. As such, the used water of slurry shield TBMs is discharged through wastewater treatment facilities. In the case of large-scale TBMs, the amount of water used is enormous, so it should be recycled to reduce costs and protect the environment. Various types of additives are used to improve the performance of the slurry treatment plant (STP) and filter press. Among them, coagulants improve the productivity of the filter press by neutralizing the charges on particles. In this study, lab tests were conducted to evaluate the reusability of the used water through the filter press after flocculants were added.

A Study on the Optimal Aggregation Interval for Travel Time Estimation on the Rural Arterial Interrupted Traffic flow (지방부 간선도로 단속류 통행시간 추정을 위한 적정 집락간격 결정에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we conduct the research about optimal aggregation interval of travel time data on interrupted traffic flow and verify the reliability of AVI collected data by using car plate matching method in RTMS for systematic collection and analysis of link travel time data on interrupted traffic flow rural arterial. We perform Kolmosorov-Smirnov test on AVT collected sample data and on entire population data, and conclude that the sample data does not represent pure random sampling and hence includes sample collection error. We suggest that additional review is necessary to investigate the effectiveness of AVI collected sample data as link representative data. We also develop statistical model by applying two estimation techniques namely point estimation and interval estimation for calculating optimal aggregation interval. We have implemented our model and determine that point estimate is preferable over interval estimate for exactly selecting and deciding optimal aggregation interval. Our final conclusion is that 5-minute aggregation interval is optimal to estimate travel time in RTMS, as is currently being used our investigation is based on AVI data collected from Yang-ji to Yong-in $42^{nd}$ National road.
