An Image Interpolation by Adaptive Parametric Cubic Convolution (3차 회선 보간법에 적응적 매개변수를 적용한 영상 보간)

  • In this paper, we present an adaptive parametric cubic convolution technique in order to enlarge the low resolution image to the high resolution image. The proposed method consists of two steps. During the first interpolation step, we acquire adaptive parameters in introducing a new cost-function to reflect frequency properties. And, the second interpolation step performs cubic convolution by applying the parameters obtained from the first step. The enhanced interpolation kernel using adaptive parameters produces output image better than the conventional one using a fixed parameter. Experimental results show that the proposed method can not only provides the performances of $0.5{\sim}4dB$ improvements in terms of PSNR, but also exhibit better edge preservation ability and original image similarity than conventional methods in the enlarged images.

Adaptive Linear Interpolation Using the New Distance Weight and Local Patterns (새로운 거리 가중치와 지역적 패턴을 고려한 적응적 선형보간법)

  • Image interpolation has been widely used and studied in the various fields of image processing. There are many approaches of varying complexity and robustness. In this paper, a new distance weight is proposed for the conventional linear interpolation. In comparison with the conventional linear weight, the new distance weight uses a quadratic or cubic polynomial equation to reflect that the interpolated value should be influenced more by the value of closer pixels in an input image. In this paper, the new adaptive linear (NAL) interpolation, which considers patterns near the interpolated value, is also proposed. This algorithm requires a pattern weight, which is used to determine the ratio of reflection on local patterns, to obtain an interpolated image that exhibits better quality at various magnification factors (MF). In the computer simulation, not only did the NAL interpolation exhibit much lower computational complexity than conventional bicubic interpolation, it also improved peak signal-to-noise ratios (PSNR).

  • Three inputs of given three magnetic fluxes of an induction motor are calculated. Then, the calculation of magnetic flux for minimum input is repeated using quadratic interpolation method until the convergence criteria are satisfied. The maximum efficiency control is fulfilled with the final magnetic flux for minimum input. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Comparison of the neural networks with spline interpolation in modelling superheated water (물의 과열증기 모델링에 대한 신경회로망과 스플라인법 비교)

  • In numerical analysis for phase change material, numerical values of thermodynamic properties such as temperature, pressure, specific volume, enthalpy and entropy are required. But the steam table or diagram itself cannot be used without modelling. In this study applicability of neural networks in modelling superheated vapor region of water was examined by comparing with the quadratic spline. neural network consists of an input layer with 2 nodes, two hidden layers and an output layer with 3 nodes. Quadratic spline interpoation method was also applied for comparison. Neural network model revealed smaller percentage error to quadratic spline interpolation. From these results, it is confirmed that the neural networks could be powerful method in modelling the superheated range of the steam table.

Research on Touch Function capable of Real-time Response in Low-end Embedded System (저사양 임베디드 시스템에서의 실시간 응답이 가능한 터치 기능 연구)

  • This paper presents a study to implement a touch screen capable of real-time response processing in a low-end embedded system. This was done by introducing an algorithm using an interpolation method to represent real-time response characteristics when a touch input is performed. In this experiment, we applied a linear interpolation algorithm that estimates random data by deriving a first-order polynomial from 2-point data. We also applied a Lagrange interpolation algorithm that estimates random data by deriving a quadratic polynomial from 3-point data. As a result of the experiment, it was found that the Lagrange interpolation method was more complicated than the linear interpolation method, and the processing speed was slow, so the text was not smooth. When using the linear interpolation method, it was confirmed that the speed displayed on a screen is 2.4 times faster than when using the Lagrange interpolation method. For real-time response characteristics, it was confirmed that smaller size of the executable file of the algorithm is more advantageous than the superiority of the algorithm itself. In conclusion, in order to secure real-time response characteristics in a low-end embedded system, it was confirmed that a relatively simple linear interpolation algorithm performs touch operations with better real-time response characteristics than the Lagrange interpolation method.

The multi-layer neural networks consist of an input layer with 2 nodes, two hidden layers with 15 and 25 nodes respectively and an output layer with 3 nodes. Quadratic spline interpolation was also applied for comparison. Neural networks model revealed smaller percentage error compared with spline interpolation. From this result, it is confirmed that the neural networks could be a powerful method in modelling the superheated water vapor.

  • 본 논문에서는 사전등화를 이용하는 상향링크 MC-CDMA(multicarrier-code division multiple access)/TDD(time division duplexing) 시스템에서 사전등화를 위한 상향링크 채널을 추정하는 방법들을 제안하고 시스템의 성능분석을 수행한다. 제안된 방법들에서는 하향링크 슬롯구간에서의 채널변화를 적절한 차수의 다항식으로 모델링하고, 이 다항식을 상향링크 슬롯구간으로 확장함으로써 상향링크 슬롯구간의 채널을 추정한다. 하향링크 슬롯구간에서의 채널변화는 MMSE(minimum mean squared error)curve fitting 방법이나 Lagrange 보간법 등이 사용되며 1차, 2차, 3차 다항식으로 근사화 된다. 성능지표로 정확도보다 시스템 성능이 중요 하므로 BER (bit error rate)을 사용한다. 다양한 시스템 및 채널환경에서의 모의실험 결과로부터 Lagrange 보간법은 하향링크 채널정보가 정확한 경우에는 MMSE 방법보다 성능이 다소 우수하지만 하향링크 채널추정 오류에 매우 민감하며, 2 차 다항식을 사용한 MMSE curve fitting 방법은 다양한 환경에서 우수한 성능을 가질 뿐만 아니라 채널추정 오류에도 매우 강인함을 알 수 있다.

Location Prediction of Mobile Objects using the Cubic Spline Interpolation (3차 스플라인 보간법을 이용한 이동 객체의 위치 추정)

  • Location information of mobile objects is applied to vehicle tracking, digital battlefields, location based services, and telematics. Their location coordinates are periodically measured and stored in the application systems. The linear function is mainly used to estimate the location information that is not in the system at the query time point. However, a new method is needed to improve uncertainties of the location representation, because the location estimation by linear function induces the estimation error. This paper proposes an application method of the cubic spline interpolation in order to reduce deviation of the location estimation by linear function. First, we define location information of the mobile object moving on the two-dimensional space. Next, we apply the cubic spline interpolation to location estimation of the proposed data model and describe algorithm of the estimation operation. Finally, the precision of this estimation operation model is experimented. The experimentation comes out more accurate results than the method by linear function, although the proposed location estimation function uses the small amount of information. The proposed method has an advantage that drops the cost of data storage space and communication for the management of location information of the mobile objects.

Application of trajectory data mining to improve the estimation accuracy of launcher trajectory by telemetry ground system (원격자료수신장비의 발사체궤적 추정정확도 향상을 위한 궤적데이터마이닝의 적용)

  • This paper is focused on how the trajectory of launch vehicle could be optimally estimated by the quadratic regression of trajectory data mining for the operation of telemetry ground system in NARO space center during real-time. To receive the telemetry data, the telemetry ground system has to track the space launch vehicle without tracking loss, and it is possible by the well-designed algorithm to estimate a flight position in real-time. For this reason, the quadratic regression model instead of interpolation was considered to estimate the exact position data of launch vehicle and the improvement of antenna performance. For analysis, the real trajectory data which had been logged during NARO 1st launch mission were used, the estimation result of launcher current position was analyzed by the mathematical modeling. In conclusion, the algorithm using quadratic regression based on trajectory data mining showed the better performance than previous interpolation algorithm to estimate the next flight position and the antenna driving performance.

A study on the comparison of accuracy of evaluation method of earthwork volume using on DTM (DTM에서 토공량의 산정방식에 따른 토공량의 정확도 비교)

  • In the study, an accuracy of earthwork volume is evaluated according to different methods of the calculation with different criteria. The criteria applied to this study are a interpolation method, a grid intavals and the method of earthwork evaluation. A numerical test has performed on two different terrain models with four different methods of calculation in the earthwork volume and two different grid intervals. The end area method, prismoidal formular, Simpson's formular, and middle area method are applied to the calculation of the earthwork volume. As a result of this study, it is showed that the moving average method with the first order term gives the most accurate result in interpolation, and that also the prismoidal formular and Simpson's formular gives more accurate result than average and area method and middle area method in the calculation of earthwork volume.
