  • In this paper, the effect of nonllinear distortion, caused by a high-power amplifier(HPA) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system, on the receiver part is analyzed. Since the HPA, which can be modeled by a memeoryless Volterra system, distorts OFDM signals in a nonlinear fashion, the received signal at each subchannel includes the multiplicative distortion of 1-st order as well as additive nonlinear distortion of high-order. the nonlinear distortion can be viewed as a nonlinear interchannel interference (NICI) since it consists of harmonic distortions and intermodulation distortions, produced by oother subchannels affecting the subchannel of interest. In this paper, we analytically derive the variance of NICI in terms of average input power using the volterra model for HPA, and then calculate the bit-effor rate(BER) performance of an OFDM system. Also, we propose a simple method to compensate for the phase distortion in OFDM system amplified by HPA, OFDM system employing 16-QAM constellation input.

  • The purpose of this study is to seek the recognition and development method of the competency assessment in order to set up the competency assessment system introduced for the manager promotion in B metropolitan city. The following conclusion were obtained by studying the recognition of competency assesment system of candidates for promotion and non-candidates. First, it is found that non-candidates have a higher recognition of the necessity of competency assessment system and its credibility, fairness and influence on relieving nepotism than candidates for promotion. Second, competency factors that recognized to be necessary for the performance of manager's role were direction guidance, fostering members, integrative thinking and communication in sequence by candidates for promotion, while direction guidance, communication, integrative thinking and management of organization in sequence the non-candidates. Third, in terms of the operational aspect of the competency assessment system, both candidates and non-candidates wanted a pass rate of 70~90%. And the time required for the assessment task was most favored for 1~2hrs, and the judges of the competency assessment were preferred in the order of professors, public official, consultants, and headhunters. Fourth, $1^{st}$ candidates than non-candidates recognized that the person who are from $5^{th}$ or $7^{th}$ class appointment are younger, have high education, are better at presenting, are in administrative positions, and are more optimistic would be more advantageous in competency assessment.

  • This study was made with 1394 clinical records obtained by a mobile charity health team in a rural Korea for 10 days from July 23 to Aug. 1, 1977 to see the disease pattern of the rural population in Korea. The health team consisted of 7 physicians in different clinical departments of the St. Mary's Hospital tried to cover as many as patients in that area by giving full informations and instructions before starting health services. which supposed to minimize the omissions of patients visits in that area. The proportion of each disease as well as its order in terms of the number of patients was reviewed by matching with age and sex distribution of patients, and with the duration of illness (complaints). Major findings obtained in this analysis were as follows; 1. Among 1394 patients, 536 (38.5%) was male and 858(61.5%) was female. As to the age distribution of the patients. those who are in the age group of 10-19 showed the highest proportion of 15.6% and those who are in the age group of 5-9 and 40-49 was the next with the proportion of 15.4% and 15.2% respectively. 2. The most prevalent cause of general morbidity were diseases of digestive system, diseases of nervous system and sensory organs, diseases of respiratory system, and diseases of skin and subcutaneous tissue in order. And their proportions among all patients were 21.8%, 20.7%, 14.5%, and 12.4% in respectively. The order of the diseases ranked by the number of patiens was slightly different in female population from that of total population, i. e. diseases of nervous system and sensory organs was the first. diseases of digestive system was the second, and the diseases of circulatory system was the third. 3. 23.2% of all patients were found to have had symptoms relating to their illness for more or less 5 years, and 18.3%, for more or less 6 months. Looking at the duration of illness by diseases, 28.6% of digestive tract disease patients and had the relating symptoms for about 1 week while 24.3% had had the symptoms for about 5 years, and in diseases of nervous system and and sensory organs, many(33.7%) had had symptoms for relatively long period (more than one year). On the other hand, in diseases of respiratory system, those who had had the relating symptoms for about 1 month was 24.3 % among all patients in this category and those who had had the symptoms for less than 1 week was 32.2%. 4. The duration of illness (complaints) was longer in females than in males and shorter in younger age groups than in older age groups.

  • This research paper describes design procedures and those verification with multi-body dynamic analysis and an experiment for the development of an unprecedented type of canister cover, named as the separating cover. In order to overcome drawbacks from the precious rupture type and actuator driven cover, the separating cover was suggested. It has the simplest structure composed of the previously developed explosive bolt and a spring-lever driven system. First of all, mechanical feasibility with proposed design parameters based on mathematical modeling was confirmed through dynamic analysis and then its results showed good agreement with the followed empirical results acquired from a high speed camera. On top of that, a parametric study was conducted to identify the effect of each design parameter on separating performance. It is highly expected that this research contributes to provide military industries with a brand new canister cover having simplicity and cost efficiency and thus it will be very useful in MLRS(Multiple Launch Rocket System).

  • The optimum conditions of the 1st and 2nd distillation had been investigated to obtaine a high quality monomeric MDI and fire reactive polymeric MDI by purification of crude MDI. Effect of additives on the monomeric MDI's color change, dimerization and the reactivity of polymeric MDI with standard polyol system has been tested. When the monomeric MDI yield is approximately 32%, 4,4'-MDI content is above 98% in the monomeric MDI at the 1st distillation. When the separation ratio of initial portion and residue percentage, reflux ratio are set at respectively, approximately 20wt%, 9wt%, above 2 in order to minimize the content of 2,4'-MDI in monomeric MDI, the freezing point of final distilled monomeric MDI is above $38.4^{\circ}C$. Since the monomeric MDI is inherently unstable in the room condition, monomeric MDI easily changes it's color and conducts self-polymerization reaction. To increase the stability of monomeric MDI, the composition of antioxidant, which is composed of phenolic 1st antioxidant, phosphorus 2nd antioxidant, UV absorbent and Hindered amine light stabilizer are used, and benzoyl chloride as antipolymerization agent test are that APHA color is less than 20, dimer content is remained less than 0.36wt% after 45 days storage of monomeric MDI.

  • In digital mobile communication system, the transmission errors affect the quality of output speech seriously. There are many error concealment techniques using a posteriori probability which provides information about any transmitted parameter. They need knowledge about channel transition probability as well as the 1st order Markov transition probability of codec parameters for estimation of transmitted parameters. However, in applications of mobile communication systems, the channel transition probability varies depending on nonstationary channel characteristics. The mismatch of designed channel transition probability of the estimator to actual channel transition probability degrades the performance of the estimator. In this paper, we proposed a new parameter estimator which adapts to the channel characteristics using short time average of maximum a posteriori probabilities(MAPs). The proposed scheme, when applied to the LSP parameter estimation, performed better than the conventional estimator which do not adapt to the channel characteristics.

  • Spherical fuzzy set (SFS) is also one of the fundamental concepts for address more uncertainties in decision problems than the existing structures of fuzzy sets, and thus its implementation was more substantial. The well-known sine trigonometric function maintains the periodicity and symmetry of the origin in nature and thus satisfies the expectations of the experts over the multi parameters. Taking this feature and the significance of the SFSs into the consideration, the main objective of the article is to describe some reliable sine trigonometric laws (ST L) for SFSs. Associated with these laws, we develop new average and geometric aggregation operators to aggregate the Spherical fuzzy numbers (SFNs). Then, we presented a group decision- making (DM) strategy to address the multi-attribute group decision making (MAGDM) problem using the developed aggregation operators. In order to verify the value of the defined operators, a MAGDM strategy is provided along with an application for the selection of laptop. Moreover, a comparative study is also performed to present the effectiveness of the developed approach.

  • This paper is proposed a new method to deal with the optimized auto-tuning for the Pill controller which is used to the process-control in various fields. First of all, in this method, 1st order delay system with dead time which is modelled from the unit step response of the system is Pade-approximated, then initial values are determined by the Ziegler-Nichols method. So we can find the parameters of Pill controller so as to minimize the fuzzy criterion function which includes the maximum overshoot, damping ratio, rising time and settling time. Finally, after studying the parameters of Pill controller by Backpropagation of Neural-Network, when we give new K, L, T values to Neural-Network, the optimized parameter of Pill controller is found by Neural-Network Program.rogram.

  • Purpose: This event related fMRI study was to further our understanding about how different brain regions could contribute to effective access of specific information stored in long term memory. This experiment has allowed us to determine the brain regions involved in recognition of familiar faces among non familiar faces. Materials and Methods: Twelve right handed normal, healthy volunteer adults participated in face recognition experiment. The paradigm consists of two 40 familiar faces, 40 unfamiliar faces and control base with scrambled faces in a randomized order, with null events. Volunteers were instructed to press on one of two possible buttons of a response box to indicate whether a face was familiar or not. Incorrect answers were ignored. A 1.5T MRI system(GMENS) was employed to evaluate brain activity by using blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) contrast. Gradient Echo EPI sequence with TR/TE= 2250/40 msec was used for 17 contiguous axial slices of 7mm thickness, covering the whole brain volume (240mm Field of view, 64 ${\times}$ 64 in plane resolution). The acquired data were applied to SPM99 for the processing such as realignment, normalization, smoothing, statistical ANOVA and statistical preference. Results/Disscusion: The comparison of familiar faces vs unfamiliar faces yielded significant activations in the medial temporal regions, the occipito temporal regions and in frontal regions. These results suggest that when volunteers are asked to recognize familiar faces among unfamiliar faces they tend to activate several regions frequently involved in face perception. The medial temporal regions are also activated for familiar and unfamiliar faces. This interesting result suggests a contribution of this structure in the attempt to match perceived faces with pre existing semantic representations stored in long term memory.
